Circe Day Spa & Salon- Aveda Salon Review

First of all, this place is way overpriced. The pedicure I got was $50 and barely included anything, no paraffin, no foot soak, nothing. I didn't get to soap my feet in warm soapy water before she started and I soaked my feet my a basket of water. The pedicure which barely lasted a week was not good, she did not clean the cuticle around my nail and barely put any scrub on my feet. The foot massage was nice but the shape of my toenails are filed wrong and uneven. I will not be back. The space is also very small and crowded

My mother and sister were coming into town and we wanted to do a girls day at a local salon. I contacted a few salons on Monday of the week (yes - my fault for procrastinating on finding a location) and Angie responded to my email request within minutes. I had asked for some options for the 3 of us to do and she came back with a great line up of services for the 3 of us. The day of - a Friday - was great. Parking is on the street - which we were informed of ahead of time. They had coffee, tea and water available when we arrived and while we were waiting. My mother and sister went upstairs for their parts while I stayed downstairs to have my nails done. Min did an excellent job on my pedicure and manicure and was a pleasure to talk to. Afterwards I went upstairs for my massage which Sarah-Ray was great. She asked if I had certain areas that I wanted to focus on and I told her my neck and shoulders. For a 30 minute massage - she worked out several knots in my back and neck as well as my legs. It was great. After my massage I headed to the salt therapy room which was nice refreshing service. My sister and mother also had facials done which they really enjoyed as well.

All in all I was very satisfied with our girls spa day. The ladies who waited on us and helped us were all great. Angie even introduced herself to me when she arrived. The price may be a little higher than other locations but I felt the service was above and beyond. Yet I didn't get any type of pretentious feeling out of it. It was definitely a great start to my Friday and I can't wait to get back for future sessions.

Spa services at Circe are always a treat! The services themselves are relaxing and rejuvenating and the staff goes out of their way to make sure there are no "administrative" glitches to "harsh the mellow." :)

I've had my hair colored for 15 years now and have never had a worse outcome than at this salon. I went in as a brunette with partial blond highlights and came out as a much darker brunette with one 2-inch wide blond band at the front of my head. No exaggeration - I'm going to post a photo if I can find it. I even took in pictures of the highlights I wanted! I know it's all about communication, but how could anyone manage that kind of a difference? I think it partly had to do with the fact that the stylist left to get dinner while my color processed, and it over processed. I was a little freaked out (which takes a lot) and they offered to redo my color if I wasn't satisfied and commented that maybe I just needed to get used to it. The receptionist offered that SHE liked it, and didn't see what the problem was. The problem was that I didn't?!! They just seem out of touch. Since it was near closing time on a Sunday, I would need to reschedule for another time. I tried to reschedule, but was never able to suggest a time that worked for me and was convenient for the stylist. It's a beautiful salon in a great location, and I really wanted to like it. I have been going to Cho for waxing for about a year now, and LOVE the services! I recently saw Tielle for color, and am now hooked on her, too! Both are so genuinly concerned with doing a good job, and not just getting through the service. I have seen other service providers over time, and have not had a bad experience. The prices are reasonable for the area, the quality of service, and product. I also really like the added touches-- the holiday party, the water with cucumber slices, and the complimentary make up touch ups.

The guest service advisors are always so adorable and sweet to me even when I am being fussy. It takes great character to put up with people in the service industry, and Circe has done a good job of bringing on some very patient staff.

As for issues like parking-- Hello!! You are in Old Town! Tis the nature of the beast!! :)

For what you get, the prices here are ridiculously high. My service was just red all-over color. This is typically about $60-100. However, this place charged me $200, without giving me any idea that it was going to be this high. It looked just as if I would have done it myself out of a box... but of course, I paid it. The girl assured me that the next time I come back it was going to be considerably cheaper because all I would get was my roots. So, I went back 6 weeks later, as instructed, assuming that it was going to be "considerably cheaper." The cost was $190 (i.e. $10 cheaper), and the color looked terrible... it wasn't even red... it was dark brown. I expressed my disatisfaction, and they just kept telling me that it "looked really good." For a place that is supposed to be known for its coloring techniques, I expected something better than average. I will never be going back here. Not worth it.

My stylist, Julia, does beautiful work. Never fails to keep my hair looking silky and healthy.

I have been going to Circe of Alexandria for years because they always give the best service. Their staff is extremely professional and I truly feel pampered every time I go. Once in a while I have tried other salons but this one is the best.
