We love CDA! My daughter started dancing at age four, and immediately began improving beyond expectation. Her dance instructors have always been patient, and focused on developing her technique and her love/respect for dance. We are so glad we found Chrissy's!

Absolutely amazing! I danced there from the time I was 3-5 years old, then started again when I was 9-11 years old,

The dance teachers were always friendly as I remembered, and treated all the students well, I made many friends in all my classes, and learned many things overall.

Five stars, next dance season I m definitely going back.

Chrissy's Dance Academy is THE premiere dance studio in Helotes, TX. If you are looking for a place for your child to learn many different styles of dance in a fun, but challenging atmosphere, this is the place for you. The instructors are top notch, always continuing their own training in order to be able to pass along their knowledge and skill to the students.

I've been going to this studio since I was 8 and I am now currently a sophomore in high school. I truly enjoy going to my dance classes every week. They have a wonderful teaching staff that is very qualified. This studio is very family oriented so it is definitely great for little kids (plus they will look super adorable in their recital costumes ). I love this studio and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

Not many studios can say they offer it all, yet this one does. Students in the Helotes community can come to this studio and experience the best instruction and dance education. The teachers and staff are all highly qualified and experienced, and the low student to teacher ratio really ensures each student gets dedicated and catered training. There is a true family feel between every student and staff member. Affordable tuition, a national winning company, and well-maintained facility are additional reasons this studio has been in business well over a decade.

BEWARE!! we are never going back. I posted the following on my FB account: It is sad that even though I pay my tuition my opinion and for that matter my daughter is nothing to this academy. She has been a student there for 3 years and loved the last two..
When a right hand "woman" to the owner dismisses 9 little girls getting ready to go out and dance and perform their little hearts out.. And only acknowledges 2 premiere girls (competition team)at how well they will do (granted I understand they were tired and did a bunch of numbers) BUT as a teacher, after reassuring YOUR students in a group, look to the other students watching, and reassure them.. Don't turn to me and the other back stage mom telling us not to gossip and give the excuse that you don't know the other little girls.. YOU ARE A TEACHER!! They are 5 and 6 year old little girls who still require or look for the simplest of things.. a "hey ya'll are gonna rock" would have been so easy (and without being told something)... But instead a catty u-turn from me and a high five to the our girl's was given.. Tsk what a shame!!! I thought the experience of 9 parents having to spray paint our little girls shoes or to buy some new shoes to accommodate "TWO" premiere girls was the line.. I guess not..And the excuse of "well it looks better on stage" is ridiculous. There were at least 5 other dances that had tan tights with black jazz or tap shoes.. Stop giving excuses and give prerequisite, so this situation will not come up again... Or Perhaps for future reference the competition team should have their own level class. Oh and I would say "we" but I don't want to speak for the other moms complaining this year.

So if you are just beginning w/ this academy and plan on staying there, keep in mind what may happen if your child is not on the competition team but in a class with a competition team child. Oh and the to staff that sent me a private message telling me that FB wasn't the correct avenue to display my frustration or anger, I guess a review on google is better. Thanks :-)

I came to this studio as a sophomore in high school, my first time ever taking dance lessons at a studio. I absolutely loved it. I continued to go for two years. The staff is wonderful and so are the students. I felt like I was a part of a family at Chrissy's.

"Chrissy's Dance Academy has been a great experience for my daughter and our family! She is growing everyday as a dancer! Her self confidence is blooming and CDA has truly become a 2nd family! I am thankful that at age 3 she began dancing at CDA and at age 7, she never wants to leave the studio! Thanks Chrissy and Staff for all you do!!"

I hope I can give 0 star, the teacher (male teacher) is not educator, actually he is racist. He did not give my daughter sticker, he skipped her on purpose, gave the sticker to the girl after her .When my daughter asked him why she did not get sticker. He lied to her"no more sticker", He had lots of them in his box. He could say you did not so well, could say I don't like your performance, but not lie. How can we expect a liar could be a good educator ? I paid the tuition, at least, we should get the basic respect, but in fact, he broke a 5 years old heart.

It's sad the staff will not work with the little ones when it comes to fear. They are 3 and 4 years old and rules are rules. I can understand as kids get older but my 4 year old was fearful of the door closed. She had never been anywhere but raised at home. They would not let her dance unless she can go in the room by herself with door shut. Very sad

Do not recommend the place at all! Upfront costs are comparable with other Academies, but hidden costs are twice regular tuition. Every month I am asked for money (recital, costumes, shoes, flowers, video, etc). Staff does not seem very informed about the way the place operates... I am told one thing one month and another thing in the next one - and obviously the difference in statements end up being reflected in the customer having to pay more... extremely expensive place for the quality offered. Was told could skip December and return January by a staff member, but then the very pompous Manager says I was misinformed. Also on the Manager, it would be better if she would actually listen to other people... a conversation entails more than one doing the talking... did not like the way they dealt with my girl a few times, and with my wife on most occasions. I guess they high demand for spots in the classes (its a small place), therefore feel entitled to treat people like garbage. There are better options in San Antonio.

My daughter is 8 and she has such a great time here. She always has nothing but good things to say about the instructors and always wants to come home and show me her new moves. So glad that we found such a wonderful dance academy for Brooklyn to attend that's close to our home.

Not a very good experience. Teacher had no idea how to teach little girls, seemed like she did not want to be there. She kept cutting the time 10-15 min shorter each time (even though it should have been 1hr class). Same routine every time, same moves for 4 months! Common, be a little creative. I would not take my child back there.

Was very disappointed after much thought to which studio I would enroll my granddaughter in, this one turned out to be the worst. The instructor she had did absolutely no instruction at all she sat on the stairs on her phone and letting the children basically do their own thing. When I called and spoke to Chrissy she had the nerve to tell me that is what Modern dance is all about, the kids expressing themselves well my response to that was she can do that at home free and I can save my 50 some odds dollars a month. I was really taken a back when she (Chrissy) seemed very disinterested in satisfying me with any appropriate responses to the situation but was very happy in keeping my recital fee in lieu of 30 day notice and call it even. I had 2 other grandchildren enrolled at JoAnn Neal for years and it was very professional just is more expensive but I guess its true what they say you get what you pay for. IF YOU ARENT PART OF THE FAMILY CLICK EVERYONE ELSE IS REFERRING TO YOU OR YOUR OPINIONS ARE NOT IMPORTANT WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Disappointed. Based on the reviews, I was excited to sign my 4 year old up for classes. She absolutely loves to dance and does so at every opportunity. This studio is extremely disorganized and the dance teacher is ALWAYS at least 15 minutes late. When he finally arrives, he seems disinterested in the students and almost annoyed to be there. He is often on his phone rather than providing instruction. Once the class was even taught by a 9 year old. It is not an inexpensive class so definitely not worth the money.

Agree with other comments, there are hidden costs everywhere. They even push the young kids to participate in "fundraiser" events like selling cookies even though there is no benefit such as offsetting the cost of an upcoming recital or costumes. No, you still pay full price for the recital but thank you for contributing to our wallets. It all seems to be in poor taste.

Okay, buckle up everyone because this is gonna be a long one. But it's necessary.

I attended Chrissy's for the final 5 years of the 9 years that I danced. There is a reason for it being the final years I did dance. My experience at Chrissy's up until that reason had always been leaning on the better side of mediocre. Nothing bad happened really, but I really didn't have any friends which was pretty tough on me.

The 2010-2011 school year is when the big problem started. That year I was taking Tap, Ballet and Hip Hop classes in total. I can't remember what level I was at in them, but I know that had I continued to my 10th year of dance I would've started learning Pointe.

The ballet class I was promoted into was the class from Hell. The girls that made up the rest of the class besides myself were all either from the audition only competition groups and their friends. So needless to say they were all very, very good. And I just wasn't quite as good as they were. The teacher that was in charge of that class knew all of the rest of the girls very well and was on a friendly basis, but I'd never had her before and the favoritism was clear very quickly. Not only did I deal with being left out socially, the teacher would berate and humiliate me on a weekly basis in front of the rest of the class for not being up to the standards. The things she expected were a level of finesse that you'd expect from someone from a competition group or who were just naturally talented.

Instead of helping me achieve the standards she had decided, all she did was get mad at me. One thing I distinctly remember was her getting upset with me in class and sternly and meanly telling me I was holding the entire class back.

I was dealing with a lot at that time with medical issues, and there was a severe lack of understanding or compassion from that teacher in particular.

My mother tried resolving things by talking to the teacher and those in charge, but it helped nothing.

In the end I quit at the age of about 12-13, and up until then dancing was my biggest passion. I was crushed. I didn't dace again until the end of last year for a theatre performance.

To conclude; Unless your child is very young or naturally talented at dancing, please consider your options and look at not taking your child here. It isn't the nurturing environment you or your child deserve to be in.
