Outstanding customer service with great communication and very friendly staff. Aurora worked with us and cared a great deal about our vision and making that a reality. And a very creative chef that can do just about anything you dream up. Staff at our wedding was prompt and well organized, and the execution was professional.

Even in Covid they provided me with an unbelievable take out event!! They put as much care and design into there boxing and packaging, as they did the food!!!
We loved Chowgirls Killer Catering! This was for a smaller work function at a private residence. This company exceeds expectations in some many areas! Lindsay was our event coordinator and did an absolute wonderful job helping out with food ideas, quantity, etc. We had the perfect amount and every guest raved about the food. Jenna safely delivered all items to my front door and offered helpful instructions for the warming unit. We look forward to using this catering company again and will definitely pass along their information. Great company! Thank you!
When my wife and I look back on our 2017 wedding we always say, without a doubt, Chowgirls was one of the worst parts of our wedding. We had such an easy time working with the planner, and we had zero doubts that it was going to be anything but the best part of our wedding!
Then the big day came and that s how the list was made: wrong, unidentifiable side vegetables; mis-use of plates that were purchased at extra cost; an unacceptable down-grade in food quality, both visibly and in taste (components that we were told would be homemade were clearly frozen and store-bought;) staff couldn t confirm the dairy-free meal was actually dairy free (resulting in fast food delivery;) A FLY IN THE BRIDE S SALAD; and the topper was the team lead wasn t even at our event, resulting in a noticeable amount of disorganization (like serving my wife, the bride, dinner without realizing there were missing components to it.)
I tell myself our event must be an outlier, because of all the rave reviews. We had such a terrible experience that this service couldn t have been the norm. Regardless, despite our initial feelings and excitement, we would never recommend Chowgirls to anyone.
Our experience with Chowgirls for our event for roughly 100 was amazing! Great communication, delicious and fresh food that was beautifully presented, and wonderful serving staff. Chowgirls worked with us to fit our budget while still fitting our values of delicious, fresh, local food. Highly recommend.
We had Chowgirls cater our wedding, and the food was all excellent! If you are forced to use them, or if you can choose to use them, either way you are in good hands! Tasting experience was super helpful and really good!
You guys absolutely killed it with flavor and presentation! Thanks to Jenna the portion was absolutely perfect and the suggestion of adding grilled vegetable platter ended up being the highlight of the meal (everyone loved the grilled radishes)! Coming from a family that centers every event (big or small) around food you guys really delivered! Will definitely be ordering many more spreads from you!
Chow Girls is AMAZING! I can't recommend their work highly enough. They have catered multiple events I've managed and each time, the food was thoughtful (in season AND met the array of dietary needs of our group), delicious, and coordinating was a breeze. Their staff is so kind, professional, and I love that they are so connected in the community.
My experience working with the Chowgirls team, has been nothing short of exceptional. Their professionalism, superb attention to detail, unequivocal integrity, and outstanding food set them apart from the rest, and it's obvious that they deeply care about their customers.
Planning a wedding is a stressful process, and adding a global pandemic to that process only amplifies that stress. We worked with Mandy who was our partner in achieving our wedding vision, both before the pandemic came about, and then as we were forced to change our plans to ensure the safety of all in attendance. Through all of it, Mandy had our vision in mind and did everything she could to make it a reality.
In short, if you want to a PARTNER who will help make your Wedding or event visions come to life, then you can't go with anyone other than Chowgirls.
Such a high recommend for catering! We have order twice for a teacher appreciation lunch. The meals were unique, healthy, and crafted prioritizing sustainable packaging.
I would give Chowgirls Catering my highest recommendation. I organized an event for 180 and working with Chowgirls was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment I expressed interest in working with Chowgirls, Eleni took care of all the details. She responded to calls and emails promptly, had great suggestions, and worked with my limited budget.
If you're thinking of commissioning Chowgirls for your catering needs, I would suggest scheduling a tasting. The Chowgirls office is a gorgeous open space filled with art in the heart of Northeast Minneapolis. You're able to select a number of items off the menu - definitely try the beer cheese! - and everything is delicious.
Delivery day-of was punctual and the men were super friendly. I ordered box lunches and they were labeled and easy to set up. Reducing the impact on the environment is an important part of Chowgirls' mission, so mostly everything was compostable/recyclable. Additionally, Chowgirls provides tons of options for those who suffer from food allergies and intolerances. There were definitely no complaints among attendees. I'm super thankful to have had such a wonderful catering experience and look forward to working with Chowgirls again!
They Catered my wedding in 2008, Food was cold, very disappointing. Wouldn't use them again for anything. I can't say about them now, but in 2008, it was bad.
We had decided to go with Chowgirls due to great reviews of it being the best wedding caterer in the twin cities area. Unfortunately, COVID came and we decided that we would need to downsize our wedding to make it as safe as possible, and had a 30 guest wedding on August 16th 2020. We reached out to Chowgirls to see if it was possible, and only then did we find out that Chowgirls decided that they were no longer catering but would offer drop off food services. I was appalled at the lack of communication, as we heard nothing about these changes and only found out when we asked. I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt as COVID was hard on everyone, and asked them to come up with a new proposal given the circumstances. They gave us a proposal that seemed to be generic, as it did not take into the consideration of the foods we had wanted when we met with them for the tasting. When we asked why that is the case, they then showed us an updated menu saying that some of the food items were no longer available. I would have appreciated more if they told us which food items were unavailable and have us choose a substitute rather than giving us a generic proposal with no explanation until we asked about it. They also told us that they are no longer renting out their chinaware for the ceremony and would use fancy disposable ones. Fortunately, I did not trust them at all by that point and asked them for a picture. They were the ugliest plates I had seen, so I was able to tell them that we ll take care of the plate settings on our end. The whole experience with Chowgirls felt like it was filled with endless traps that you have to find and jump through. We had to be the ones to recognize the problem before they would try to fix it. The last straw was that they didn t even serve us the main dish that we wanted. We asked for the sugar brined chicken that we had at the tasting (which cost $100 per person), which had included boned in chicken drumsticks etc. At the wedding, we got a sad piece of chicken breast. When I asked what happened, they said they forgot that we wanted the boned in version. COVID had made weddings hard enough to plan safely. Fortunately, we were able to have a beautiful wedding with our loved ones in Minnesota. However, Chowgirls caused almost all of my problems, and was the only part of the wedding I wish I could do over. The only nice thing I can say about them was that their seasonal special cake tasted good....
Addendum: I received a call from Chowgirls following this review to ask me about the things that went wrong. They apologized and said that this is not the way they usually do things, and spoke to the person in charge of my case. They also refunded their service charge and the charge for the chicken, which amounted to approximately $760.
Chowgirls recently catered a corporate anniversary event for my organization. They were professional, easy to work with, and the food was incredible. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a stellar and memorable catering experience!
Best service, food and experience! I use Chowgirls to cater big meetings at my office job and I always recommend them to the couples whose weddings I photograph. They're food is innovative, fresh and unique! It's a breath of fresh air compared to other caterers, and I always look forward to having them. Everyone gets so excited for their food! They have prompt, clear communication, always have the food ready on time, and it is a pleasure working with their team.
BEST CATERING HANDS DOWN. Where to begin - we would give Chowgirls 10 stars if we could! They were amazing from start to finish. We had a tight budget and a short notice wedding; although Chowgirls was initially out of our price range, they really worked with us to make it as affordable as possible. We specifically worked one-on -one with Meghan, who was just the most personable, genuine, professional and on the ball point person for our catering needs leading up to the wedding. We went for a tasting - it was really hard to choose which dishes we wanted, because all of them were delicious (not to mention locally sourced)! There was something on the menu for all of our guests, dietary restrictions included. Our final menu choice was sliders, roasted potatoes, simple salad, fruit and polenta. Our guests raved about the food.
Day of the wedding, our catering coordinator Rachel was just so kind, warm, friendly and attentive to our needs. The staff had a smile on their faces the whole time, kept the place tidy by promptly removing dishes of guests that were done, filling up water glasses before they emptied, keeping food supply filled, and all the other things you could ask for in a catering service. The bartender was also very kind and knew his stuff. They even packed up the food in neat boxes, labeled them and even signed each box with "love, Chowgirls" - it's the little details that make all the difference!
They felt like family during this process (yet also very professional); just the way the spoke to us, checked in with us and were sensitive to our situation made us feel so comfortable. We love Chowgirls and would recommend to everyone!
Chowgirls catered my wedding last month. After our initial contact, it took awhile to receive a proposal back, but they'd already prefaced our communication by letting us know they had a lot coming up during that time. Once we got the proposal, it was perfect anyway and required no further nitpicking. The company came highly recommended by many acquaintances (including friends who work in the event planning and catering industries) and Chowgirls is obviously very busy, so: be smart, book well in advance, and be patient. They're not "disrespecting" you by taking time on your proposal or not being at your immediate beck and call.
Chowgirls is not "cheap" or bare-bones. Neither is it excessively priced, as far as catering goes. The food is delicious, their business values green, sustainable, local ingredients and practices, and their service at the event itself was flawless. Our guests loved the food and the attending staff made dinner/clean-up easy and stress-free. We were very happy with what we got for the price we paid.
Mandy has been wonderful to work with. She has been extremely responsive and kind as we have had to change our wedding plans multiple times in the past year. Chowgirls is a company that exemplifies creativity, quality, and most of all, integrity. You will be in great hands if you use Chowgirls for your event!
Excellent food, friendly and polite staff, overall exemplary. We will use the Chowgirls again! Thank you for the fantastic party. Everyone loved it and we didn't have to cook a thing. You are now our go-to. Thank you so much!
Chowgirls catered my wife's 40th and it was amazing! They did a great job ensuring the safety of their staff and our guests. The team was helpful, flexible, and responsive planning our small gathering. Most importantly the food looked stunning and tasted delicious. Rave reviews from our guests made the event even more special. Thanks Chowgirls!
We booked Chowgirls two weeks before a very important corporate event. They were extremely attentive and flexible when building the menu. They were consistently responsive before, during, and after the event. I try to operate with a high level of execellence, and Chowgirls always seemed to be 2 steps ahead of me (which is not an easy task). Our particular menu had unique allergy considerations and Chowgirls managed to serve a spread that did not compromise. The ingredients were creative, fresh, and decadent. The onsite staff was professional, fun, and extremely attentive and flexible. I cannot wait to host another event so I can book Chowgirls again just to see what other amazing dishes they come up with.
Either this week is not a good week, but their person on the phone are rude, not helpful. We wanted to cater in a lunch for 25 people and told us we were too small, they have minimums. Too bad, we are obly a couple blocks away from them, I guess they only want corporate business. Menu looks good but their customer service is a -1 with 10 being high!
Chowgirls is always the first recommendation we give our clients when they are looking for catering options. Not only is the food PHENOMENAL, but the entire team is kind, helpful, and so gracious. We love working with (and eating!) Chowgirls!!
I used Chowgirls for my wedding catering one year ago, and we loved the experience from start to finish. Incredibly professional, fun people. They were accommodating and adventurous for us, completely customizing the menu to my husband's and my tastes. They were beyond helpful and organized, which, for our mostly DIY wedding, was a godsend. The Green Goddess salad. Boom. It's awesome.
I think they did Brian and Emma's Wedding in 2011. Best wedding food I ever had. Now if someone could just confirm it was this company. Was a pretty memorable catering company name and wedding so I think I got it right.
Chowgirls provided the lunch on the day of my mother s funeral. We met at their office prior to the day, and they were welcoming and professional. The food was absolutely delicious, and I think my mother would have loved it. We heard from others it was the best catered food they d had. I wish we d gone with Chowgirls for our wedding, but I m so glad we had them when we said goodbye to my mother. I highly recommend the sweet potato salad, macaroons, and roasted veggies! They were also careful to accommodate special dietary requirements. We ll use them again whenever we need a caterer!
I eat from all the catering vendors in town on a fairly regular basis. Chowgirls is among the best I have ever had. What is really impressive is that it is not a one time experience. Every time I have their catering it is diffrent and it is excellent. I can not say enough about how fresh and flavorful it always is.
Lindsay went completely above and beyond to provide an amazing exoerience, and I only had the pleasure of meeting her over email! Unfortunately the event I was working on went a different direction, but Lindsay's customer care ABSOLUTLEY deserves the high raiting. I will most definitely work hard to use them if another opportunity for a catered event arises. Thank you Lindsay!
Great catering co. Its definitely killer. Owners are very environmentally responsible. Super yummy food. Eat local support local! Keep up the great work.
