Chimayo Grill Review

Food is okay. My burrito was dry, the meat was basically tasteless. Don t get the fajitas, you ll be disappointed. About a step up from chipotle. Service was awful, the employees were pretty rude to me. Especially the late 30s Mexican man that I first encountered. I d never been to the restaurant and he spoke to me in single to three word bursts and got irritated when I didn t understand what he was saying. I understand language barriers but when you work in the service industry a little respect and understanding goes a long way. Cashier rolled his eyes at me and when I asked for French fries in my burrito which I could understand if it wasn t a build your own burrito place. Its not like this is an authentic mexican place. It seemed as if my very presence was annoying to them. Lobby was dirty af, used napkins on the ground. Won t be returning.

Awesome food, but the service and employees are what gets them a 1 Star. First guy was very rude asking to pull up mask that was just below nose. While I was only with family. And cashier was very rude saying that card didn t read, wouldn t let me try again, asking for another card. (Their machine was messed up.) Terrible customer service. Won t be going back. Get some better employees and it ll be a hit spot.

Nothing else like it except maybe south. The food here is so good and quality plus quantity. I didn't leave hungry. Great hot sauce and beans steak was great

Fast service and excellent food. I had the chile rellano burrito- so big I couldn't eat all of it - delicious! The food was fresh and well seasoned. My kids had the fish tacos and loved them!

Chimayo sauce and Baja Shrimp are what separate this place from every other Mexican place!

Plus, the staff are fun.

Best food ever! The baja shrimp is the best burrito. Always add Chimayo sauce! Unless you are allergic to the ingredients used to make it. :)

Let me first say the staff is very friendly and I can tell they have intention to offer good food and this is my opinion of the food only that's why I did 3 stars and not 2. In short if you like American style Mexican food you'll like this but if you prefer traditional style Mexican food I'd avoid. I may be bias as I live in Chicago and I'm spoiled with really good Mexican food options. This is my second time here as my first experience wasn't great. We wanted to give it another try as the reviews are so good but the only thing I can attest the good reviews is this is more American style Mexican and not traditional. We ordered two fish tacos one grilled garlic and other Baja, two carnita and two sides of rice and beans. The first red flag was when they served white rice not Mexican rice, the carnita are very bland and the fish was just ok. The corn tortillas immediately fell apart, and we had to eat with a fork which was fine as the corn tortillas didn't taste that great. Mission tortillas from the store are better and that doesn't say much. But again this may be my pallette for traditional Mexican food. But to give you and idea we like chipotle better in some ways. But they must be doing something right as they've been around for a long time and are doing well.

If you like Chipotle you'll love this place. Not a chain. Baja fish tacos with guac blew my mind.

We ordered the chillirelleno burito with carnitas ($2.00 upcharge for caritas but sooo worth it!!)
Added cilantro, fresh salsa , corn . It was absolutley delious!! The 2 guys at the counter where very nice and helpful! Very big burito shared it with my Fiance and was plenty.

Great tacos and food all the time. A few more smiles while making your tacos would be nice, but when your full all the time I guess you don't have to smile.

Should be a franchised chain. Expansive menu. Fajita fries, chilled rellenos, fish tacos and chimichanga burritos. Yum.

Fat delicious burritos, esp with their chipotle sauce! The wait was a tad long but well worth it. The shrimp tacos were really tasty too :)

Really friendly staff but really it's all about the food. While you get to build your burrito "Chipotle style" the selection and quality of product is much better. I love that they offer shrimp and fish. Had the grilled garlic shrimp and it was amazing. I wish they would build more locations! Would definitely recommend.

As always, Chimayo did not disappoint. I have yet to find a better fish taco, anywhere, period! I'm happy to take a 3 hour round trip drive for a order of fish tacos and a cold beer. The staff is always kind, helpful and fast. Everything is always clean and ready to go. If I could give it 6 stars I would.

Best fish tacos in town! freshly made every time you order with great staff. Recomend thios place as it is delicious and afforable. Downt waste you time at Chipotle or Qdoba. This place is locally own and great choice.

Fish. Tacos. Excellent. No complaints. Quite a bit of food on the three tacos for $9. I also got the chips and salsa. Real good. Habanero salsa was bomb. Long line at 7pm. Took forever. Maybe 30 min. Workers were tired.

Recipe for success, Baja fish burrito, chili tortilla, rice, pinto beans, cabbage, cheese, both salsas, jalapeno, onions, line, white sauce.

Waited for 20 minutes when only 4 people were in front of me. Only one person was making stuff and checking people out. Baja burrito was okay, but honestly I would just reccomend Illegal Pete's fish burrito instead. Much better and two dollars cheaper

Always stop here when you are on I-70. It is the only move.

Absolutely delicious. If you love tacos, you've got to give this place a try. Took a star off for the slow to go order- waited inside for nearly 10 min before I was even asked why I was there. But I think the food was totally worth it. Highly recommend ! Just don't be in a rush.

Definitely come try the fish tacos/burritos here! My husband had the steak burrito, it was good, but not amazing. I, on the other hand, had the baja fish burrito and it was amazing!! The burrito was huge, very good value for your money. As of 6/6 the dining room was still closed, just a few tables outside that fill up quick. We just drove across the street to the Dillon reservoir and enjoyed the beautiful view with our meal (plenty of free parking there).

We had a great experience here! Delicious take-out fish and shrimp taco. Great size, filling, and an excellent value for the price! Hope to return!

Fantastic place, always stop day when I drive through. Highly recommend the Baja fish burrito and don't forget to ask for the life changers.

Ingredients were fresh, but protein portion size was so small, it was indistinguishable within thw taco. It did not improve with a remake beacuse the grilled mahi was overcooked. Not worth the $7 price for two tacos!

The Chili Relleno burrito is the best burrito I've ever had and I grew up in southern Arizona. Friendly staff and great food.

My husband's burrito with carnitas was done very quickly, but my shrimp tacos took a while to get, but they had added all of the fixings, so the tortillas got a little soggy. The garlic seasoning was better than the Cajun. Cashier didn't know that cinnamon/sugar was what is on the original churro, so seems like they could use a little more training. Overall good for the cost

This food is nothing special. It tastes like home cooking. You really don't taste any spices or signature flavors like you do at Q-Doba or Chipotle. It is just boring rice with no salt, boring beans with no salt, watery sauteed vegetables, and a $9.50 price. I was very disappointed. I would suggest cooking at home or going somewhere else.

The cajun fish burrito was AWESOME, of course! Don't forget the White Sauce!

Quick and tasty! A great value too. This has become my go-to spot when up in Dillon. Whether after skiing or hiking, this is a great place to get a big, hearty meal before heading back to Denver. I'm glad I found this place--like I said, it's become on of my favorite spots. Viva Chimayo!

Good food. Ok service. The gentleman taking orders seemed irritable and not welcoming at all. I would probably return though and hope he wasn't working. I saw that they have the best fish and shrimp tacos in Summit County. I unfortunately ordered the nachos and it was too late by time I realize what they were famous for. They were really good, but I should have ordered what they're known for.

Glorified chipotle-style food. The oldest crew member guy that you have the pleasure of encountering first should probably find another job. I assume the rest of his coworkers feel the same, because they were much more pleasant to talk to.

Not sure why the best fish burritos I've had outside of San Diego are in a Colorado mountain town, but they're ridiculously good. Favorite local gem in the Dillon area.

They aren't kidding when they say they have the best fish and shrimp tacos around. Get the Cajun grilled shrimp tacos with the tomatillo salsa on it and you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful fish tacos, smothered chimicangas with green chili sauce, and a variety of tortilla and burrito choices make chimayo a great option! I stop here very often on the way home from a ski day.

I live in the front range and make it a point to run through Dillon just to stop by Chimayo for their Baja Fish Burrito, whenever the opportunity arises. There s nothing like it and don t know what I would eat if Chimayo wasn t there. I m so thankful a friend introduced me last ski season to this great group of folks. Use your outside voice to order! :D

Super delicious meal with a very friendly staff! I can highly recommend the shrimp and fish tacos and burritos . This is a local staple with excellent menu options and an upgrade from Chipotle or even the other local Mexican joints. Prices are reasonable and everything is always super clean every time I've been. They have two special sauces to upgrade and also chimichangas and taco salads. It will make you a delicious shrimp quesadilla if you ask for the mechanic Matt special. Definitely need to add this one to the menu! Thanks for a great meal and hope to be back soon!

Exceeds expectations.

It's conveyor style like Chipotle, yet our shrimp tacos were as good as any upscale restaurant. Hubby got the Cajun shrimp burrito and I got the same but tacos. Portion was generous and the flavor was fresh and very delicious.

Service is friendly and efficient. We were there at 3pm (not a busy lunch time) and it's so popular we saw a line (it moves quickly).

Two outdoor tables are outside as an option.

Called for their location and a real person answered the phone which is nice (across from City Market, next to the hot tub store and connected to Starbucks).

Our meal including chips and salsa (no drinks, we had water) was $21. Great value for the quality.
Will be back!

Great food, the Baja fish is stop notch. It takes awhile to order.

When you first walk in there is a menu on the wall but no prices. The main menu has prices but it's not transparent. For example, it says cheese quesadilla 6.60. Add chicken, steak. Caritas, add extra $ ( but no amount is specified.

We came in a group of 5 people and a guy with dreads, and the employee stuffing and rolling the burritos were extremely rude. You shouldn't have a tip jar if you're going to be condescending to customers. A sign outside simply states they serve breakfast burritos but no time specified. I tried to order at the counter and they said it was "to late" and they wouldn't make it. Don't eggs take quicker to scramble than the fish and chicken they were grilling? Food was OK...

Their baja fish is my favorite. Every time I'm in town I always make a point to come here. I've gotten several friends and family hooked on it to.
