I worked in that place for 8 years, everything looked great until the COVID-19 pandemic started. HR together with the US Program management don't give a S**T if you have family, a medical condition, etc... As I was forced to worked in a cottage where residents and staff were giving positive for COVID-19. I was tested by NYS Health Deparment and after getting negative results for COVID-19, I requested to be removed from a cottage that was in quarantine, and I was told by BOTH MANAGEMENT (HR & US program) that it doesn't matter if I tested negative for COVID-19, that I have to stayed working on an infected cottage. For my own safety and my family safety I resigned my job and they put it as ABANDON, loosing 80 hours of pay vacation... keeping in mind that for 8 years I was never late, had a perfect yearly evaluation and I was the most reliable person within the US Program. It took me 8 years to understand how bad and unprofessional this place is when it comes to safety...

I am now 43 years old and I still haven't forgot the names of some of the staff that greatly impacted my life when I was there when I was just about 13. There names where Hazel Beckford and James Rodomski and my counselor Mr Gregory. I thank them to this day for their guidance and teaching me life skills and the education they taught me the staff at Children's Village work very hard and put so much effort into teaching and helping the children and their families. I remember everything about Children's Village especially the trips we been on my favorite was bear mountain. Thank you so much for being a big pat of my life. I miss you's so much and will come back t visit.

I was a resident for 3 years in "Smith" cottage in Boone unit. I remember the computer bus and some of the staff there Nan dale was running things I remember the trips when the whole campus went to six flags. I remember our circus we put on for the outside community. I was also on the CV news staff, being a boys scouts, cottage level system, off campus passes. And I heard sometime back the campus is now co-ed??? Is this true? If anyone that was there between 85 and 93 hit me up robert Wright aka sinbad Wright on facebook

Previous experience was working in corporate arena, but Interviewed for CV regardless it is a non-profit organization. Was offered role and I accepted due to my role being in CV management offices. After several months realized that the job was not all that I expected. Hiring manager was not transparent to what the job would entail i.e. security was lax & viewed troubled youth walking freely on property or wandering in management offices with no supervision, CV learning center was obsolete, disrespected by manager and constantly being micro-managed. At first, could not understand why there was high turnover, but after several weeks realized why good people resigned. Unfortunately, I resigned after 4 months due to my health suffering from the lunacy & unjustifiable treatment by staff & high risk youth.

I was here in 1970 to 72. Mom and Pop Harmon. Mr Carangie and Mr....(Big tall swedish guy, He was totally cool)
Reindeer cottage then The Harmon's cottage...forget the name for the moment. I loved it. My teacher Mr G was absolutely the best. I loved him like a father. He treated us so well. Took us camping on his property in Pond Ridge.(Never tried to molest us if your thinking that!)
Treated us like gold! I can't say enough about this place. It set the course for the rest of my life, which has been pretty damn good!

I was at Children's Village a long time ago. The date was May of 1978-August of 1979. I was 12 years old. My name is Anthony Hill. It was a interesting experience that I will never forget. I always said I would visit back there one day because it was such an amazing experience. One day soon I will, especially seeing Crolius Cottage where I stayed.

The company as a whole is flaky. They lose a lot of wonderful workers due to office policies, supervisors & directors not having your back, and lies. They offer great (additional) training that are transferable within the human service field.

However, working in the adoption and foster care unit supervisors expect a lot from you, with very little guidance and training on what should be done with each case. Once you come in you shadow someone for a few weeks then your given a case load of 10+ cases and are expected to know what should be done. Supervisors are not knowledgeable of what BS and SW have to do on a daily basis, they do not offer solutions to assist you to do a great job and conflict brews. Workers are over worked and personal care is overlooked by your direct management. Supervisors are quick to push they're work onto others and they do not are not team players.

Negatives
NO Life (hours are unstable)
No acknowledgement of what your doing right, focused only on your faults
No time to complete task
You have to learn to cover your ass cause no one will back you up
Not a job for individuals with small children (your home life will be affected)
Salaries does not reflect all the work you out into your caseload
Understaffed therefore a larger caseload which in turns means more visit_less time to complete notes and other important documentation

Positives
Flexiblilty
Great families to work with
Great co-workers
