An amazing tour of both Chicago and it's pizzerias. Learn fun facts about the city and the endless amounts of pizza we consume. Danny and Cary are both very knowledgeable and friendly. They know their city well. We had an 8-person group (there were about 16 total on the tour) and they were able to accommodate us. Can't wait for the next excuse I have to go back on the tour again!

This tour is awesome!! Danny is fun and funny, and makes sure everyone is engaged by getting to know each person and calling them by name. He explains why we are visiting each restaurant and what is unique about them and does a nice job weaving Chicago history into the adventure - especially Chicago sports:). Danny is a professional and demonstrates that throughout the tour. We went on the Father's Day tour and he made it a great day for all of the Dad's, especially my 84 yr old father. It was also Danny's birthday- which we didn't know until the last stop when they brought out cake. The pizza was delicious and this was a great way to try several restaurants with just the right amount of food. Thanks for spending your birthday with us, Danny, and making it a fantastic day for everyone!!

This pizza tour was sooooo much fun! Our tour guide was Danny and he was awesome, he was super funny and interacted well with everyone so well! We got to try all types of pizza; deep dish, thin crust, dessert pizza and american style pizza. Danny took us to 4 different area's of Chicago that offered pizza which was really cool because there is more to Chicago than just Downtown Chicago.

We went to Pizzano's Pizza, Flo and Santos, Pagatos (I think thats what it was called) and Piece. My favorite was Piece and Flo and Santos.

I also loved that we had a bus because walking in Chicago is intense! I recommend everyone to try this tour out! A little overpriced but definitely worth it!

The whole experience was great. Kevin was our guide. Funny and informative. There is plenty of pizza! My worry was that you would only get one slice at each place. NOPE! There was so much pizza. I couldnt finish everything at the last two stops. It's worth the tour price for sure!

This tour included a bus to transfer you between location. We hit North and South side pizzas places. Other companies can only hit a few locations within walking distance. Dan was awesome guide and made it fun in between places. Tried 4 great pizza places. Sampled and ate about 2 pounds of pizza in a few hours and had about 7 different ones. Hands down best tourist attraction in Chicago in front of that Bean and Pier!

Friends ordered this for a dinner party at their house. It should be mentioned that we did this because we had 6 people coming for dinner and we would not have all fit in the actual establishment. I think we had a sopressata with chilis and a veggie pizza with mushrooms and onions. Both were delicious, and it was decided that this pizza is essentially very close to Arizmendi or Cheese Board, only you get to pick your toppings, which is pretty awesome. Next time I go, I would probably order more pizza than 2 for 6 people (it was REALLY good), and maybe get extra cheese :)

A wonderful new experience for us. We got to taste some pizzas we would not have ordinarily gotten to try, and Greg was very interesting and accommodating for our group. Group size was nice, not too many and we all fit on a small shuttle bus. This made it much easier to get around, and easier to all get seated quickly at each place.

This experience was so much fun! We visited three locally-owned pizza places (no big chains here!!!) and were treated to five very different types of pizza--not just different types of toppings, but different styles of pizza making. All of the pizzas were delicious, but by far the best (most unusual, most unexpected, most tasty) was the sausage, red pepper, and honey from Pizzeria Serio. There also was a delicious Italian beef deep dish from Exchequer Restaurant & Pub (where the tour originated) that was so different from the type of pizza my husband and I typically eat, but was so delicious! The three restaurants--Exchequer, Pizzeria Serio, and Labriola Chicago: Ristorante and Cafe had so much character and ambiance and really introduced us, as outsiders to the city, to several different and historically significant venues from the city. Our tour guide, Danny, was AMAZING!!! (No hyperbole here, trust me.) He is so knowledgeable about the city and about pizza--he was a tour guide for a bus line before coming to this tour many years ago--and throughout the night it was just lovely engaging with him and learning from him. He also had to deal with a pretty loud tour-goer, and did so beautifully! And at the end of the tour, we were treated to huge plates of Stan's Donuts for dessert. Be warned: There is a LOT of food to take in. And if you get the chance, and if you are so inclined, absolutely try the spiced pear mule at Labriola. In short, this was well worth the cost. A delightful evening of food, facts, and fun!!!

Our family of 16 met in Chicago for a birthday celebration. We chartered the Chicago Pizza Tour bus for a tour that took place in the afternoon...between their regularly scheduled tours. There were five grandchildren, ages 5-21, plus 11 adults, and everyone had a wonderful time. John, our guide, was knowledgeable, entertaining and very accommodating. Many of us had either lived in our near Chicago and had only gone to the most familiar pizza places, so it was fun to be introduced to new places that served a wide variety of pizza...from very thin to stuffed pizza to dessert pizza. We recommend this for new or seasoned travelers to Chicago.

Did this as a private tour for our 1-year Work Anniversary celebration for our crew. The set-up with Jon was incredibly easy and they were happy to flow with our changing number of attendees and my constant questions to make sure I had all bases covered. Sydney was our guide and we hit Lou Malnati's, Pequod's, and Flo & Santo's. Sydney was fun and engaging as she gave us history on each place we visited as well as general pizza trivia. Not that any of us could do much more than 1 slice at each place, but there was plenty for seconds and several people boxed up leftovers to take home. Pizza, drinks, immediate seating in incredibly crowded restaurants for a group of 12, gratuities already taken care of, and a bus/driver to run us all over town? An incredibly good value for 4 hours of fun!

We recently took a trip to Chicago and being someb...

We recently took a trip to Chicago and being somebody who is addicted to great food, all i could think about is Pizza, so what better kind of tour than a pizza tour?!
We booked this tour expecting to hit all the majors. We expected Pizzeria Uno, Lou Malnatis and Giordanos. We were a little surprised when Danny, our tour guide, said we weren t doing any of those. Now at the beginning it disappointed me, but by the end of this magical pizza journey Danny took us on, i was left unbelievably happy and full!

Our first stop was where we met, Pizanos. We learned from Danny that this restaurant is actually in the Malnati family but is run by Rudy Malnati Jr. the son of Rudy Malnati who was THE GUY behind the pizza at Pizzeria Uno. We got to sample both their deep dish and their tavern style which, according to Danny, is the pizza eaten most often by native Chicagoans. The deep dish was their vegetarian pie with fresh sliced tomato on top and a sauce that will knock your socks off! The tavern style pie was sausage. Sausage is the #1 topping in Chicago and Pizanos orders from the Anachini brothers and this special blend made only for Pizanos is amazing! Jam packed with seasoning and it really sets the pizza apart!

Next stop, Flo and Santos. More tavern style pizza but this time with flare. We had a Chicago beef pizza with shaved beef and spicy Giardiniera, awesome! Then with the heavy polish community in Chicago (another fun fact from Danny) we had their polish sausage and sauerkraut pizza, salty and delicious! Then he brings out a s mores pie (my wife s favorite) and we use that to cleanse the pallet before we move on to the next!

Third stop, PEQUODS! I ve read lots about this place and it did not disappoint! Danny knew i was counting down to this one so he made sure i ended up with two slices. This was another sausage pizza but this was different. The sausage was more of a patty than small pieces. The flavor was out of this world! Danny said he has tried time and time again, but Pequods will not give up their source. On top of the sausage, this sauce was hands down my favorite. I like a heavy sauces pizza and the robust flavor that this brought to the table was second to none! Then when you think you have had it all, you get to the crust! The chef in the back sprinkles cheese on the crust before it hits the oven. When it comes out you have this crispy crust with a Caramelized cheese on top and WOW!

Last spot on the tour was Coalfire. Now this is not your Chicago style Deep Dish or your tavern style but this is more of a traditional looming NY pie but cooked in a coal fire oven. Danny told us the oven is normally up to 900 degrees and can cook the pizza in under 90 seconds, and he wasn t lying. Pizza came out quick, hot and looking magnificent. Out of all the pizza, this one definitely had the best presentation. You take a slice and between the grease of the cheese, the saltiness of the pepperoni and the creaminess of the fresh Ricotta on top, this pizza is something special!

Now that I ve spoken about the pizza, let s talk about the tour. And by that I mean Danny. A pizza tour without a fantastic guide is just a few restaurants, but Danny was INCREDIBLE! The knowledge he possessed, not just about pizza but about the city was incredible. You can tell his passion isn t just pizza, it s about his community. He had facts for days, jokes, personality and made 4 hours and 3lbs or pizza feel like a casual outing amongst friends. I would recommend this pizza tour to ANYBODY i know visiting the city, but they HAVE to get Danny. I feel like anybody else will fall short. Chicago was an amazing city and i can easily say this tour with Danny was my favorite part!!

I had an awesome time on a private pizza tour with Jon as our guide. Jon is like an encyclopedia on Chicago Pizza and he really helped me appreciate the flavors as well as the history of pizza in Chicago. As a Chicago native I learned a TON and I can't wait to drop some knowledge on others. Back to the tour itself -- We got to experience a wide variety of pizzas and styles from deep dish to thin crust/tavern style and our guide was awesome enough to cater towards a vegetarian diet as well. Would absolutely recommend to out-of-town guests as well as locals.

Four stops, seven pizzas, trivia, history and places we would never have found on our own. Great way to see different neighborhoods and eat different pizzas. Italian beef pizza, black and white garlic, and polish pizza with sauerkraut (in addition to traditional pizzas and of course deep dish)...fun to try different flavors and kinds.

Our driver and tour guide were phenomenal! I believe that anyone claiming to be from the Windy City should only be able to claim as such after this tour!!

Our only beef was only water with your meal and for $60/person having tea or soda included would be nice. Also, our buses ac unit went out and it can get hot inside.

We went on a bus tour on Saturday. Danny was our guide. We visited Pizano's, Flo & Santos, Pequod's, and wrapped it up at Coalfire.

All the pizza we had was outstanding, and much of it was unique (especially Flo & Santos pies with sausage). Each pizza parlor we visited was quite different from the others, and each faithfully represented an important Chicago pizza tradition. Some of these you will know already, and some (unless you are some kind of pizza expert) will be novel and interesting.

The tour was really about the history of Chicago as experienced by way of its most beloved food achievement. While Danny does know a lot about pizza, he really demonstrated his deep knowledge and expertise when he was talking about Chicago. He has deep roots and knows the particulars of each neighborhood and their culinary and ethnic traditions. Danny is also a stand-up comic and it shows, he's clever and amusing and really funny on his feet. Great speaker that keeps your attention.

Compared to Scott's Pizza Tours in New York City, this pizza tour gets a lot more into the history of the city, and less into the technical aspects and history of pizza itself as a world cuisine. Where Scott is one of the world's foremost experts on pizza, our guide here was an expert on the Chicagoland area and the history of its food and its people, and in particular the Italian, Polish, and other immigrant influences on the pub and pizza traditions. You will lean a lot about the history of tavern-style crust, square cuts, pizza pricing, and the relationships between pubs and the evolution of the different types of Chicago pizzas.

Recommended for foodies, pizza lovers, and anyone interested in the people of Chicago and their culinary traditions. Amusing tour guides and great selection of pizza restaurants showcasing the full diversity of Chicago pizzas. Ended the tour completely stuffed, could not eat another bite. Great for kids and families too, but note that some places would be difficult to access for those with mobility issues (stairs at Pequod's etc). Also note that it may end a little late depending on traffic and things, so plan for a few extra minutes at the end.

John's Tour took me to three different, but all amazing Pizzeria's in Chicago!!
John's passion for pizza and his knowledge are not only mind blowing but fun! The history of Pizza in Chicago should be made into a movie, there are so many twists, turns and families involved. The three Pizzeria's we went to were Pizano's on Madison, Coalfire on Grand and Pequod's on Clybourn, like I said before they were all fantastic , but all different. Being on the tour bus ( so comfortable and smooth) John made it so easy, we had lots of laughs, learned so much about pizza and of course ate lots of awesome pizza! Do the tour!! It is the best way to experience the pizza in Chicago! Get some!! To see the video we shot of the tour go to my You Tube page A Biker Dude!

What a terrific Tour! We really didn't know what to expect and were delighted with the outcome. It's a fun combination of delicious, unique pizzas from 4 different neighborhoods in the City all narrated with just the right amount of humor by our tour guide, ROB. Our tour guide (Danny) was great - you could tell he loved his job and I learned fun facts about both pizza and Chicago! He was also great at timing the orders, and the tour itself was well organized.

I really liked how different the pizza choices were - I expected them all to be deep dish but we really had a variety. Chicago is such a melting pot - it was great to see this come through in the pizza scene.

I would definitely recommend to both natives and visitors!

Great tour with 4 different pizzerias in 4 different areas of Chicago! Glad to have a bit of a Chicago tour at the same time you're having a pizza tour.
