Chiado Restaurant Review

A really great deal at Winterlicious and a fine dining experience at all times. The seafood is amongst the best in the city and the service is impeccable. It's well known even in Portugal -- where a local recommended it to me!

Pan seared loin monkfish with glaze of piri piri - Monkfish has a slightly chewier texture compared to regular fish and I really enjoy that. The piri piri sauce is the highlight! Nova Scotia Lobster on risotto of saffron - generous chunks of fresh lobster on a bed of delicious risotto! Assorda (dry soup) with monkfish, lobster, shrimp and clams - each spoonful is filled with chunks of seafood!!!

Lovely atmosphere, Wonderful and attentive staff. AMAZING food, This a must stop when visiting Toronto, one of the best memories of my visit as far as dining. Price MAY seem high, but, for the quality, uniqueness and attention to detail this restaurant punches above it's price bracket and is a bargain.

Most polite service I've had to date and the food was out of this world. Highly recommend.

Classy but warm and relaxed atmosphere. Staff and owners are amazing but the fish, market or off the menu, is out of this world.

The place brings out a platter of fish - Boca Negra for you to see if you want to order fish!!! They can even take the bones out for you if you like. We tried the Winterlicious menu and the chicken and flan was so delicious. We highly recommend this place for Portuguese food. The food is primarily from the northern part. Delicious! Abrigado!

The service and food was awesome. Fresh fish from Portugal coming in daily (that was told to us). I think this is a great place will be back again soon.

Everything on the plate was delicious 100%. Nice environment and very friendly staff. The only annoying thing is there were two fruit flies hanging around like they r dating each other.

Would recommend this place as the #1 Portuguese restaurant in Toronto. Great service, attention to details and amazing piri piri sauce. It would be awesome if they could little lower markups for beverages.

Amazing service with a huge and varied menu!

The valet parking is also great for when you are in a rush and stuck without parking.

Absolutely incredible service, food and atmosphere. We had a party and dined in the wine cellar. It was amazing. I can't praise these guys enough for the night we had.

They mainly do seafood in here, and they are so good. A five-star restaurant not only impresses people with their food but also their sweet and incredible service. The attitude of all the staff in here is the best, they sincerely treat you well and respect you. I will definitely come back again!!!

Excelent food. Very fast service for a restaurant this fancy. Prices are high but reasonable for a reastaurant of this scale. One of the best choices for fish in Toronto.

Always a superb meal to be had here. The fish is always fresh and cooked to perfection. The service is efficient and extremely helpful. Chiado is my favourite seafood restaurant in the city, no doubt.

The food here is absolutely delicious and the staff is extremely accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable! Highly recommend if you're looking for a nice meal with family/friends or on a romantic date.
This restaurant is definitely one of my favorite places to go when I want great cuisine with a nice wine pairing.

Great food, we had grouper and a seafood platter for appetizers which included Lobster, Octopus & Shrimp in a citrus, tarragon aioli. The appetizers were excellent and were well cooked and had just the right amount of seasoning. We also ordered steamed mussels which were great, once again at the right temperature and great flavor. The grouper was nice and thick and had a lot of seasoning which I thought really added to the flavor. We also had monkfish which was considered okay.

I cannot express enough how impressed and happy I am for the entire experience. I booked their private space for a special occasion a couple of days ago, and I'm glad I chose this restaurant. Not only that the space is beautiful and relaxing, and all dishes were delicious, but also our waiters treated us with big love, which made the experience very memorable and joyful for my important friends from other country. Huge thank you for your service.

Service was fabulous. Started with a fennel and Apple soup which was delightful. Arugula salad was very well executed. Seafood was FRESH and the options were quite impressive however our dishes lacked seasoning which was a let down.. unfortunately I don t think we will be back :((

Went for summerlicious. The food was good, but composting to a la carte entres, they were holding back, it seemed. Good choice of wine from Portugal.

The food and the service and the knowledge of the staff is excellent. The decor was underwhelming. I reiterate the food from the starter like the prawn or the main like the octopus steak or groopper were simply taste and amazing. The desert were also great

First time going to this restaurant a few days ago and the service was what you would expect in a high end city. The servers were very professional and personable making for a great experience. I was presented a seafood platter of all their catches (very similar to jozo's in yorkville) and it made for such a beautiful presentation. The chefs recommendation of the portuguese ray fish was delicious and paired very well with the wine. The server recommended a great pairing of dessert and a lovely half-sweet port that showed me how well she knew the menu and my taste buds. Looking forward to going there again!

I was pretty darn excited to have summerlicious here. However, I am so damn disappointed. First, the appetizer the squid which I TASTE LIKE A BURNING FOOD. It tastes bitter. Second, I have the grouper which tastes so sweet and I am not expecting a tomato sauce to be that sweet. The dessert is best part as the cake and the creme caramel egg custard.

I was really excited to try this place out. I am not a guy that is not hard to please but I need to be honest with this one. I came based on the reviews being pretty good. What the hell were these people eating. The food was absolutely terrible. We spend $160 WITHOUT ANY DRINKS. The Octopus was mush, the food was cold. I was really routing for this place to be good. I just want people to avoid making the same mistake I did.

Nothing but great things to say about the experience here. First off the food is some of the best in the city especially for seafood lovers. The quality of the meals presented were top notch.

The service is what you would expect and on par with with food.

My friend and I visited on a Friday around 6:45 pm and we were able to beat the rush. Reservations are probably recommended for peak hours during the weekends.

Price is high but well worth the splurge.

I took my two daughters-in-law for dinner there Saturday. I was impressed with the valet parking and the welcome on our arrival. We were given our choice of tables, but from the outset, the waiter tried overly hard to be funny without much success. Kind of detracted from the experience. The food was served in a timely fashion, service was good and the food was hot and delicious. After the bill was paid, our car was ready at the door and the ladies were escorted from the restaurant under a huge umbrella keeping them out of the rain. A nice touch.

We were underwhelmed by both the food and service. Is 'Chiado' Portuguese for short cut? Dinner for two at almost $300 and we are poured wine by the glass and do not get the bottle we ask for. The lobster risotto lacked authenticity and the single piece of calamari app seems mean. Our waiter dropped by from time to time but seemed focused elsewhere. Not a great anniversary dinner.

Went with my husband and friends for winterlicious and we loved it. The restaurant looks a bit outdated but it has a very cozy feel to it. Service was impeccable as the waiters are attentive and professional. Our waiter even brushed off the crumbs on table mid meal. The dishes are fairly simple but they are cooked to perfection. I had the capon and my husband had the lamb and they were both soft and juicy. The white chocolate mousse tasted like a fluffy cloud. The restaurant is a little pricey but worth every penny.

Had the pleasure of experiencing your onsite catering this past weekend. My tastes, sights and feelings of heavenly food grew immensely. Celebrating an angels Baptism in a magnificent backyard setting brought awe to our senses. Service was exceptional from the moment we arrived! All servers excelled! Chefs gifts/works at highest peaks! Hope one day we can experience this on your own grounds! God Bless you all!

We went to Chiado for our anniversary dinner and it was an awesome experience. TONY, our waiter was exceptional and very knowledgeable about the menu. We will definitely be back again.

Went during summerlicious, food was bland but ok overall. However we waited 1hr+ for our main course to come cuz the chef cook for regular visits first then summerlicious . Not recommend if you want to try their summerlicious menu

Food, service, ambiance were absolutely outstanding! Definitely a hidden gem that's a must try if your tastebuds prefer fresh seafood. Will definitely go there again. One of the top ten seafood spots in Toronto l! Perfect for dates or intimate occasions!

I had a Christmas party in this restaurant and I am impressed. Excellent service, very professional and pleasent waiters, very testy and fresh food beautifully presented. They just need to have a better dessert, but everything else is a perfection.
