The food was fast and delicious! And of course the staff was very friendly.

Tuesday night is pint night, 1.50 domestics, 2.50 imports. Love the food and atmosphere here. Staff is friendly. The chicken is the best!

Great cheap eats at this local favorite. Fills up fast at lunchtime so be prepared to wait if you get there around noon. Specials are usually an excellent deal!

Check's is the heart and soul of Germantown. If you have a craving for some good comfort food, this is the place to go. They have chili and bean soup ready to order. They serve a tasty burger, fried chicken, fried fish, bratwursts, hot dogs...just look at the menu and you're bound to find something you like! Plus it's a place that, while it has undergone expansion and rejuvenation, still retains its old charm. The service is good, even when its busy and the line's practically out the door. Need a place to host a party? They have an upstairs space for rent. And the best part is, the prices are all very reasonable, too, especially considering how this place has gotten so much publicity and love. Check's has notoriety but hasn't forgotten its roots. Go there once, and I'm sure you'll want to go back.

My entire family loves this place. My parents went on dates here a long time ago. Now my husband and I do.

Lack of waitresses is odd. All the food tasted the same. Kind of old fishy oil flavor. The peach cobbler was inedible. Tasted like someone dumped way too much cinnamon in it. The derby pie slice that was 4 bucks was tiny. This was our 2nd try arlt giving this place a chance. Sorry but we're not going for strike 3.

Louisville tradition. Need to go if you ve never been. Fish, double cheese burger , chili with spaghetti. Big menu. Fried bologna.

We went there because of the nice reviews here. When we got there the place is dirty so the kitchen. Nobody said that we had to order over the counter. I realized it after waiting for about 30 minutes. I will never ever come back to this place. Rude staff.

Stopped in for a quick bite and what an amazing little place. Tried a Reuben and it was one of the best I had ever tasted. A little greasy and so were the fries but I would still try them again. I hear the fried chicken platter is AMAZING!

Fantastic atmosphere and tradition dating back to 1935 just after prohibit44ion. Thanks to Dr Joseph Murrow, German town continues to have this historic place. Great place for German staples - bean soup, German potatos, braunschweiger, bratwurst, great place to watch the basketball game, or come here right after the football game. Right across the street is Monnik a craft brewery with some good brews you will see at the craft beer festivals.

I understand it's historical and a classic place.. But the food is so bland/inedible. I made a mistake getting brussel sprouts and it was the worst I've ever had. Cheap prices

This was our 1st time there. There wasn't any way to know how you are supposed to order until I stopped one of the workers and she told me. So they have a menu on a big board on the wall, there are paper menus you can ask for, or they have a website with their menu on it. You place your order at the register, get any soup or chili you order, and then they bring the rest out to you. I had the cheeseburger and a bowl of loaded chili with spaghetti!! Bith were excellent!! My husband had the bratwurst and chili. Good also. This place makes you feel like everyone in there is either related or they all grew up together, and come here to hang out. The place has been here since 1944. Its definitely worth finding a place to park on the street!!

Thursday Karaoke night - packed & rockin' and dancing to the oldies! Mostly older couples & regulars. Food good but pricey.

We had the cod. It was very good. 2 nice thick cuts of cod. Mmmmmm delicious. I will go back and try other things on the menu

The cook Timmy Barnes should be working in a five star restaurant everyone is super nice

Ordered the Pan Fried Oysters and was pleasantly surprised. They came out hot and still sizzling from the fryer. Then decided I needed something more (I always need something) so I ordered a Chili Cheese Dog. The best! Will return soon for more delectible items! Thumbs up Checks!

We had ordered take out for delivery so thought we would go by and dine in this time and everything was excellent.

Good food, especially the fish and country fried steak, but skip the broccoli casserole and the German potato salad.

Good place to have drink. Parking not too great but nice atmosphere. Older crowd.

It's alright. Way too crowded for me. Ate the fish sandwich, fried a little too long as we're the fries.

Delicious. I got fried green tomatoes and the bratwurst. My husband loved their chicken livers and I tried a bite of chili dog (I'm gonna have to go back and get one for myself!).

Food and service were great!!! Not to mention we got our food fast.

Every part of the experience was great. The tea, the beer, the sandwiches (Buffalo chicken and the philly), the fries, the ranch, and the collard greens. Good ole greasy spoon just like it should be.

Love this place. Definitely my favorite place to eat in all of Louisville Kentucky. Check's cafe has it all. Very casual with family style food that can't be beat. Their prices are low and portions are big and delicious. You can tell you've found a gem by looking around at your fellow diners. People from all walks of life have discovered Checks. Policemen, business men, locals and families. If you visit Germantown in Louisville Kentucky you don't want to miss Check's!!

Great food! I love the service too , from the counter service to the food runners they are all so nice here! Sit at the bar and talk with the regulars!

Overwhelming. If you have white hair and like to dance to really loud live music, this is the place to be.

Fish sandwich and beer was good. Broccoli casserole was cold and biscuit was stale.

Food is always good here. You have to order at the bar. The menu is on the wall next to the counter. I recommend the chili.

A place to get a hot lunch or dinner.Good southern cooking.Chili or fish,fried chicken or a burger.I had a Reuben.All the locals go here.Recently renovated.Reasonably priced.

Place is ok. Service could be better. Definitely don't get the peach cobbler, its not worth it. Reuben was good as was the burger. Its almost a bar, so don't ne surprised. While it was good, its not our atmosphere so we won't be going back

This place is unique and cool and fun and has awesome food in a very comfortable atmosphere.
