We got the train car room, really wasn't happy with the cleanliness of the room. A lot of dust and cobwebs, also failed to empty trash cans. They need to do a better job of making the rooms clean.

Nice old train station under renovation, some entertainment (music and comedy venues). Outside a poor dulcimer player who was pretty good was drowned out by some DJ playing club music loud enough to drive her and most people out of the area. I think there were 2 people who stayed. I dont mind club music in clubs, but not in a place like this. Maybe a jazz or big band would work. Really atrocious!

Went to the Frothy Monkey for dinner and drinks. Great atmosphere and kind servers make for a great experience. A bit pricey for the amount of food you do receive; however, everything tasted phenomenonal.

We hadn't planned to visit Chattanooga, but our flight to Atlanta was diverted due to weather. The airline paid for us to stay at the Chattanooga Choo Choo, and it was a wonderful surprise! The atmosphere was so welcoming, the staff was incredibly kind, and there were so many things to do nearby. If I ever need a relaxing few days away, I would love to stay here again.

Very dated...even though they are working on renovating....rooms were disgusting. My kids feet were black from the dirt in the carpet. Bathrooms were moldy and had broken electrical outlets.

Such a fun place to stay! The lobby is the original train station and is quite pretty. They have a very nice outdoor area with multiple seating areas, ponds, fountains, and outdoor games (corn hole, giant checkers, and giant Jenga). The More

This place is an absolutely amszing place to visit, whether with family or friends. With such great history and amazing views, this is where you want to be. With a nice hall for weddings or parties, and extremely unique lodging this is an amazing place to be!

Do NOT stay here. We were intitally wowed by the historic charm, but that is where the pleasant experience ended. The check-in staff was unfriendly and unhelpful, and we waited over 20 minutes while the man helping us went into the back to talk to management because he couldn't figure out our Expedia reservation. The room is fine- nothing fancy- but we are not at all pleased with the live band blasting right outside our window. Called the front desk and was informed that they are playing until 11pm. We are in town for a business meeting that begins early in the morning and this is unacceptable.

Such a cool historical building! We came here this past weekend for the first time, and came away impressed. The torches were all lit, and the ice rink was still set up. Great overall atmosphere. We will have to come back again when it's warmer!

Reserved a Pullman car for 2 nights. Great experience. Private and quiet accommodations. Car we stayed in was a bit shabby but it appears that renovations are being made so I didn't knock them down for that. When we get back to Chattanooga will definitely stay here again and of course it will be in a Pullman car.

This is a neat place, but the pictures make it look way better than it is. If you prefer a clean room definitely not the place for you to stay. It needs a lot of work and renovations of the train car rooms that are moldy and rusting. We walked into dirty sheets on our floor and extremely sticky floors and toilet seat in the bathroom. Won t be back.

WOW is all I can say. We booked thru Orbitz and checked in. The room was 82 degrees so we called and said please check the air and please send a fan to help cool down the room. We were told no fan and the air was fine, it would cool down. We were sweating just sitting in the room, the bed was so hot that there was not a chance it would cool down enough for us to sleep in so we checked out. We were told no problem on a refund but the nice clerk said why not check out another room. We did and it was a bit cooler but had a weird odor, we found 2 mildewed bathing suits in a drawer. Again we were told no problem on a refund but when Orbitz called them the manager who we never spoke with refused the refund, she gave many excuses but ended up at we did not give advance notice of the cancellation.

They made us pay for a room that we could not sleep in!

PLEASE look at the 1 and 2 star reviews on the sites, the horror stories are many. I do not know how they get good reviews but something seems fishy. I can not fathom paying the price they want for a room over staying in a name brand hotel.

I think to work there you become immune to complaints. Many of the happy customers don't stay or eat there they just walk around the place and then do a review

Also beware of Orbitz, read how bad it can be, do a google search of Orbits credit card disputes, the hotels know Orbitz backs them in whatever the hotel does and if you dispute it with your credit card company and win your money back Orbitz will turn you into collections and hit your credit rating. So when using Orbitz you had better choose a reputable hotel chain because they are paid upfront.

What a beautiful place to walk around and explore. My husband enjoyed the restaurants and the rose garden. They kept the original architecture so you feel you are stepping back in time. We love visiting the Choo Choo.

We stayed in one of the train car rooms. Fun idea. Location was great, within walking distance of some really nice restaurants and things to do. The room itself was not great. Immediately upon waking in we were assaulted with the smell, old human. Not pleasant and very strong. The room (half of a train car) was not very clean, think dust under the desk and in corners. Bathroom reasonably clean, but we honestly didn't want to walk around barefoot in the room. Felt some updates and much better cleaning was in order. Also, since there was another room behind us, and the beds must be in the same position at the end of the room, we got to enjoy our train car roommate snoring voraciously and sounding like he/she was in the room with us...

Updates needed! This hotel is great in concept but is suffering from years of no maintenance. The rail car rooms are quite cool but they need some TLC. By the way, having a way to purchase a simple bottle of water after hours would also be great.

Most beautiful place, loved the vintage vibe! The rooms were very spacious and really clean. Staff was very polite and helpful. Check in and out was very quick. They have train cars you can walk around and look at. Would recommend this place to anyone in the area!

We stayed in one of the train car rooms. It was very quaint. The bed was so comfortable, the water hot and the a/c cold. I loved the ambiance of the hotel. The courtyard was beautiful, loved the Frothy Monkey Cafe. Everything we needed was right there or in walking distance. Everyone was so very nice. I would definitely stay there again.

I called to book a room with the "buy 2 nights get 1 free special" and was told it only applies to double queen rooms and only King rooms were available. I booked a king room in the Empress building, but when I arrived they had moved me to a double queen in the "recently renovated" MacArthur building. Yet, the BOGO special still couldn't be applied. It was a decent room, but not worth the rate I paid. The breakfast seemed to be standard hotel fare but is NOT complimentary - it's $10 per person!

The beds were clean but far too firm to be comfortable. The linens seemed to have been starched as they were stiff and very uncomfortable. The room itself was the bare minimum of a hotel room with few niceties. I'm not sure what was recently renovated, and I wonder when the carpet was last vacuumed.

I'm giving this 2 stars because the atmosphere outside of the MacArthur building is lovely. I love the gardens. Still, I'm not sure why the fare is so steep, because some of the grounds appear to need repairs and the rooms could use renovating - as in, comfortable beds. I would stay here again if I could book a train car at the rate I paid for a hotel room. It's more for the experience than the comfort, I guess. Otherwise, look elsewhere!

Pullman car accommodation didn't live up to the brochure. Room smelled of mildew. My mom did not enjoy our weekend getaway to spend the night in one of the train cars. Thank GOD for the shopping at Hamilton Place Mall!

Well decorated for the holidays. There is a small skating rink and pictures with Santa. 4-5 souvenir shops. (The visitor center outside the parking garage, next to Courtyard Marriott, offers free shuttle service up to 11 PM, please verify schedule with them). There is a regular hotel, and there are sleeper car rooms outside that are a part of the train. I believe one of the cars serves as a cafe/lounge, again, please verify. If you're staying in a sleeper car room, I recommend closing the curtains. People taking pictures of the train may not realize some of the cars are occupied. There was a funnel cake stand. There are additional shops across the street.
