Covid precautions are well established and the visitor experience is definitely a safe one. Please note that the house tour has been reduced. You only require 30mins to 1 hour inside. There are no signs in any of the rooms explaining where you are or what you are looking at (presumably because prior to Covid, guests took advantage of an audio tour). The purchase of a guide book is useful or alternatively ask one of the many tour guides inside.

The house is nice. The garden is fantastic. Very safe to visit as essential cleaning stuffs are provided around the house. Please don't carry a big backpack otherwise you will need to put it into a locker. I guessed it was a safety reason.

One of our favourite family days out. Lovely house and amazing garden to explore. Also a large woodland adventure playground with farm animals to see. During school holidays there are plenty of activities to join in with and keep the kids entertained. Massive country fair in September and an epic fireworks display in November. The farm shop a couple of miles away is one of the best there is. We love it so much we get the annual friends pass and visit whenever we want.

Friendly informative staff. Nice to be able to take pictures of the house rooms. I booked for 10am (due to Coronavirus regulations) and there were no crowds.

Always impressive & helped by glorious weather. Top marks to all involved in the ongoing restoration & maintenance, with the improvements clearly evident every time we visit. Covid precautions are on the whole excellent, aside from having to touch the soap dispensers & with some force. Sadly too many are still unable to grasp 2m & social distancing, but that's case everywhere.

Picked a sunny autumn day, not as busy, peaceful. Well organised with measures in place in shops, cafe and at entrance. Pleasant friendly staff in food and drink vans and shops, cafe, especially the Canadian lady serving in the courtyard. Most of gardens open, apart from maze, greenhouse. Lots to see and walk around, beautiful tendered grounds and gardens.Whole experience lifts your mood. Takes your mind briefly away from all this Covid stress, panic buying, rule breaking in cities.

Amazing gardens, the rockery is really excellent. The house is pretty gaudy and there are some new art installations which are a bit weird, but the effort put into the original stuff is amazing.

It's well worth the visit. Beautiful interiors and lovely gardens.

You will need atleat 2 hours or more to enjoy it throughly.

If you want to go to thr farm it's a mile away form the house.

The gift shop is also very cool and there is a place where you can do additional shopping and have a bite to eat.

We didn't get into the house, but we bought a ticket for the gardens, and the place is really stunning. There are several nice areas to explore, with small waterfalls, flowers, rock gardens and even a maze. Great place to spend an afternoon walking around.

Apsolutly brilliant day out. The gardens are stunning (we, didn't visit the house), restaurant food is amazing & shop has some lovely stuff.
I would highly recommend a visit. We plan to go back very spoon!

Always plenty of interest and great attention paid to customer safety in these uncertain times.
The food offered in the restaurants and cafe is really good too. A lovely day out for all ages.

Pre booking the car parking was a doddle and there's plenty of spaces to choose from. The walks around the grounds are really nice and we saw many sheep and deer! The picnic cafe has plenty to choose from, ice creams, coffees, tea etc.

I love the mix of classical art and sculpture with modern. Facilities, shops, cafe all well thought out and good. The only negative was the lack of gluten free food in the kiosk. Overall lovely experience.

I recently visited after watching a couple of seasons of Downtown Abbey, and I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that Chatsworth House makes the Abbey look pale by comparison. It truly is a remarkable house, with some fantastic art. If you are considering a trip, I would recommend to not skimp on getting the actual house ticket pass, it was certainly the highlight of our visit.

Absolutely stunning place and well worth a visit! Finally a place were covid restrictions has a benefit, was able browse at leisure without being over crowded. We were incredibly lucky with the weather as the grounds are absolutely amazing and would be a real shame not to be able to walk around in the dry.

Absolutely fascinating! I need to go again. The amount of wealth is a little distasteful but you can also see so much done for the local area and environment to say nothing of the amount of employment it provides.

Absolutely stunning place, would have likes to see more of the house but the gardens are amazing and expansive. Had brunch in the Cavendish, very nice indeed! Excellent parking, well controlled.

A fantastic place for adults and kids alike. Great views and set pieces that will leave all ages marveling at the beauty. From the garden which can take a day on its own...to the wonderful barn with play area right down to the house...a must visit :)

An absolutely fantastic day out. Between the house, garden and farmyard there is something for everyone. Whether you're an avid history lover or just looking for a fun day out this is the place for you. Some areas are currently closed due to covid but that doesn't lessen the experience at all. Austen fans will also enjoy learning about the inspiration behind Mr Darcy's Pemberley and all the Austen inspired goodies in the gift shop.Very much looking forward to being able to go again.

Gorgeous place! Even the areas surrounding it are stunning! It is well worth the drive and a day out. We went during covid and was managed really well with distancing and a one way system. Definitely recommend!

We had a really lovely visit at the Chatsworth House Gardens. It was a warm day and as you can imagine, it was a tad busy. We spent most of our time by the river. The house itself looks absolutely stunning. It was highly organised and parking was great. There were tons of sheep around though. They were roaming around freely, and pooping everywhere. If you re not friendly with sheep, this might not be the place for you. The sheep don t bother anyone though. Also, there s a good few ducks. They like to get a bit friendly. I highly recommend though. The views are absolutely stunning!

Lovely grounds, house is amazing and the giftshop has lots of nice stuff. My only issue was it felt like a lot of the house was closed off, though I am willing to accept this may be due to current circumstances.

Nice family day out.

Booked online for the garden tour, and arrived at the allotted time. What with all the issues surrounding social distancing, it was nice to just walk around the grounds and see plants and features not seen elsewhere. A pleasurable experience that was only possible by us being in the area.
Thoroughly enjoyed the day.

We booked online to go and see the Farm and children's play area. My niece loved the animals including the baby Donkey, Baby Goats (Kids) she said they were so cute.
We got our chairs out of the car and had a pinic on the grass near the river. Then went for an Ice cream. Next time we are going to book to look around the Gardens and see the amazing fountain.
Chatsworth House is fabulous to look around and at Christmas they have a different scene every year. I highly recommend Chatsworth House for a day out. I believe there are some lovely walks as well.

The whole visit was easy to plan and we'll managed once we arrived. Made the mistake of thinking that the time we booked related to arriving at the site whereas it was for entry to the house. We were let in without question though.
Well organised for covid protection, felt very safe.
Thoroughly enjoyable visit.

A Beautiful Country House, with some stunning grounds, we decided to just do the walks this time around, we ll be back to see the main House another time.

The Grounds are extensive, with a stunning tiered water feature near the House.
It s a beautiful walk when the weather is nice, and I d highly recommend it, but maybe take your own food & Drink, it s a little pricey!

Great place to visit. Impressive inside and out. Lovely gardens and woods to walk through with lots of bits and pieces to discover. There is a large gift shop and a couple of places to get food and drink. Guides were friendly and helpful as you would expect. Think we spent a couple of hours inside exploring the house and a similar amount of time wandering the grounds. Visited late September 2020.

Great place to visit! Only visited gardens, but was enough for a day trip. Beautiful surroundings, everything is very well looked after. Kitchen garden is a must to visit.
Covid precaution are taken. Must buy tickets online in advance to enter.

Chatsworth house is the biggest house I went to, it has 25 rooms, It feels like you are in palace. The garden is big also, it has a water fountain and a maze. You have to book the place if you want to go to chatsworth. It is suitable for everyone. it has a wheelchair accessible, it good idea if you bring your kids around.

Beautiful grounds packed with loads of activities for kids, restaurants/cafe for lunch, home to explore, gift shop to buy Xmas decorations and arts & crafts plus amazing farm shop to buy yummy vegetables and food products plus a well stocked butcher and delicatessen!!

We will definitely be back again to fully explore the entire area and buy more items from farm shop.

My most favourite place to be in the world, by the river watching the deer grazing. I love swimming here too. If you park at the Carlton lees carpark it's just a five minute walk to the water. Perfect place for a picnic. There are amenities such as toilets too. Please if you visit this beautiful place take your litter home with you. The wildlife is spectacular. When I was swimming a cute water vole swam right by me.

Loads to see both inside and out. Not too crowded going round the house. Guides were knowledgeable and helpful. I thought the rockery was one of the best features of the estate. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Stunning place inside. I especially like that there are some great examples of modern art alongside the ancient art works and room settings, giving equal value to both old and modern....a great idea. It was a very wet day so we didn't get much time outside, but what we did see was lovely... landscaped and formal, with beautiful parklands. Loved the water feature.

Simply stunning. The house was amazing even with the Covid restrictions. The grounds are the best we've seen. Well worth a visit.
The staff were fantastic, they rearranged our time slot as our baby was distressed. Thanks!

Stunning glimpse into British history. From the gorgeous regency house to the peaceful classic Capability Brown gardens, the water features and years of history. Any tourist should appreciate this stunner and its spectacular views of the peak district.

The farm shop is out of this world, you could easily blow a small fortune on their locally produced meats and veg, include this place on your trip!

The National Trust will need your support as visitors to keep places like this going after lockdown so get there when you can!

Beautiful gardens and house. Contents amazing. But there was no information available in the house about paintings and objects and no audio guide or leaflet with layout of the grounds and house. The only sign we saw to info was their website as we exited. Why not tell everyone about this when you book?
Great place. Experience could be significantly improved.

The gardens are absolutely beautiful.
Everywhere is accessible even with a push chair.
A tip from me would be take your own drinks as the shop is very expensive and you are allowed to take your own!
But, what a lovely day out in the fresh air in the most beautiful gardens.

Splendid period house set in the stunning Derbyshire Dale's. Fantastic landscaped gardens of many variations and after a walk through the house and gardens you have the Stables courtyard shopping, restaurant and cafe to quench your thirst for both retail therapy and appetite.

Absolutely stunning and a must- especially if you're a fan of Pride and Prejudice. The gardens were glorious and the house magnificent. The rockery, Emperor Fountain and the Pinetum are wonderful. Do ask details about the Oak Room when you visit the house, it has lovely little secrets about the former Duke's beloved dog!

Apart from the beautiful house itself the gardens (particularly the rock garden) are amazing. I felt like I had been transported into a Swiss postcard. Stunning. You can easily spend hours wandering around the gardens.

Amazing property and grounds, great for a family day out. We visited during the pandemic so a number of the site areas were closed to the public. The house itself was open and there were plenty of staff members on site that helped with information about the house and family. The Duke and Duchess of Derbyshire live on the grounds, they no longer own the property as it is owned by a trust, however the Cavendish are involved the majority of the activities on site.
The day we went it was raining so we couldn't spend as much time as we could have, but expect to spend at least 4-5 hours. The house took about 30 minutes to walk through, you can spend more or less time seeing everything. The outside grounds are vast and very beautiful, lovely for pictures etc. They have a cafe on site which served hot drinks and cakes etc. The restaurants are outside the grounds, you can ask for reentry tickets if you haven't finished looking around.
Great day out, the PAP fans will love it.

Fascinating building and the grounds are so special, I liked the rock garden I wasn't expecting that experience.
If you go in the house ask the guide in the room with the attached picture about the lady in black it's great

A picture speaks volumes, hence the addition of a library to give a glimpse of how beautiful this place is.
Aside from the beautiful palace, you've got friendly staff to guide and tell you a bit of what they know about the place.
Some parts worth checking, once covid 19 is fully off, the maze, the fountains powered by gravity, the supply garden and the orangery to name a few.

Would recommend it if you enjoy picturesque views and a bit of English history.

So we planned our walk , checked the site to ensure it was open and then headed up. As expected , the sites and the walk, on a nice warm day, were great the car parking is as expected , expensive , but it does get a full day slot. The only downside ,now, is that you can t turn up and pay. Something that wasn t particularly obvious until we got there. We ended up driving towards Matlock, to get 4g , to book the parking ticket . The other thing we ve discovered , on more than one occasion , is that coffee is not their strong suit . This will be the third time we ve been , forgotten about previous trips and effectively poured out black coffee and mocha away . I d suggest sticking to bottled drinks and tea.

The house I found gloomy and somewhat disappointing, not living up to the splendor I had imagined. The gardens are, however, something else. A vast parkland produces impressive vistas in all directions with fantastic colours especially in the autumn. The 100 acre gardens provide something at every turn; a vast rockery, impressive fountains, quite ponds, incredible trees beautiful walks. From the sound of it kids were living the playground!

You could easily spend a day in the gardens and parklands and still not see it all. Well worth a visit

Must be the best or if not the best Top 3. House is spectacular and they allow photography and film. Gardens are equally spectacular and vast. Very covid conscious. This should teach other big houses to open to the public safely.

We had a wonderful day visiting the house and grounds. Would have liked to have seen a bit more of the real life functioning part of the house such as the kitchens and about the servants etc. But an excellent job of adapting the place to the current situation.

Visited on a wet day absolutely pelting it down so didn't see it at it's best. That said we walked extensively in the grounds with plenty to see. Car park charge reasonable and staff helpful. Will visit again.

Beutiful place and surroundings, Great place for a day out! The guides were so good in explaining any questions I had and explained things in detail about the room I was in. Great gardens for a picnic or to take some time to relax and take in the views. 5* from me.

Visited the gardens only, as many people advised restrictions on the house and isnt worth the cost. Beautiful grounds lots to see. Ample photo opportunities. Tractor ride is 3 pound per adult. Small drive around the grounds, limited space on tractor to social distance. Only downside is no clear signs to enter the place, went past it 2 times. There needs to be a large sign for parking entrance.

A beautiful stately home. The pride of Derbyshire and the Peak District. There is so much to see and do here. A fabulous house, world class gardens and amazing walks around the grounds. We had a special treat of afternoon tea and it was great. We do not get to Chatsworth enough.

My friend and I were made to feel unwelcome by the garden staff. Standard in certain parts of garden is poor. Cut flower garden in previous years has been one our favourite parts but this year looked awful. I have been visiting the gardens for forty years but won't be wasting my time visiting in the future. Very sad!

Visited the farm and children s play area. Really impressed with the COVID guidance. Limiting numbers in areas, one ways routes and one household using different areas of the park at one time.

A very nice day out, the house is beautiful and the gardens are fantastic we walked around the gardens for a good few hours, great on a sunny day take your own pick nick and sit in a beautiful setting. Social distancing was good you need to pre book or you wont be let in, sanitise stations are plenty around the house and eating places.

Gorgeous place I thought it was a bit expensive just for a 'walk around a garden' but gosh its so much more! Stunning house and garden that go on and on. You can spend days here and not see it all

If I could give more stars I would add another 100. This is such a beautiful place! My eyes watered before even getting out if the car. Stunning inside and out. The guides in the house are friendly and knowledgeable, where every room has it's own history, so ask the guide they will tell you so much. So much history and art, a true beauty. I am so happy I was able to see this. The gardens are also wonderful. I will be visit again. I have taken loads of pictures but I cant post them all on here.

Lovely site, huge. You could spend ages here, and often if we lived closer. It was a shame some things were shut, I would have liked to see, but it's understandable at the current time, at least they were open and most things were still available. Ice cream sundaes were nice

A lovely day out, our 2 beagles were welcome on leads (plenty of sheep and lambs to see) and had a fantastic time. Food was available and cleaning, social distancing was adhered to. The gift shop was beautiful. The grounds are very well kept and the fountains are unique and definitely worth a look. The farm shop was extremely well stocked, I can recommend the bacon and sausages. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
