The staff are hateful. It ruins the fun because the concept is great and the food excellent. Being forced to clear your table for the second service, when you are ready to recommend and no one comes to occupy the said table is a final turn off. I have frequented this place a lot, bearing the incompetence of an unpleasant staff constantly renewed because of a turn over of madness, but now it is finished. Never again La Champagnerie!

Beautiful place and great music. We did not eat there just had drinks. Drinks are a little pricey but that's what you would expect for a place this nice. Wait staff was super friendly. Would defintealy go back
Very bad service. The server got it wrong 3 times in the addition. Great lack of professionalism on the part of all the staff who know very little about the products. I do not recommend the place at all.
Me and my girlfriend accidentally came upon this gem. Had our trip planned out but the first night we had no plans and we walked around old town and decided on LaChampagnerie since my girlfriend is a champagne lover.
The food was incredible and the atmosphere was even better.
The DJ's were fantastic. From Deep House to throw back 90's-Early 2000''s Hip-Hop the music was on point. Being a DJ my self and playing in Western New York, I can garuntee you can't go wrong coming here when it come scoop to music.
Keep up the awesome work! Can't wait to revisit and possibly even play there one day myself.
P.S The lobster filet mignon poutine was the best poutine I have had in all of Canada and I'm constantly in Toronto.
Amazing Champagne bar (and the only one in town). Massive selection of sparklings, great food and staff. The cheese and charcuterie board was great. The Poutine with Foie Gras, Steak, and Lobster was decident.
Ridiculously over priced champagne. 20 plus flats a glass for the cheapest glass...no not bottle.. glass. Cheaper to fly to france. Nice music and atmosphere though
Hi. My name is Andrew, and my cat's name is Apple. I named my cat Apple because I was allergic to apples when I was young but I really loved to eat apples. So the next best thing was to name my favorite person (cat's are people too) after what I could no longer eat. Last Saturday my cat was busy playing with a ball, so I decided to check out La Champagnerie. The ambiance was florid, and decor was ornately extravagant. I was wearing a button downed collared shirt that I bought at village de valeurs (great value) and wearing my hiking shoes. I ordered a whiskey sour because straight whiskey is too strong and I started to chat up the bartender. The bartender was very good at making drinks and had a cat too. For dinner, I tried to order some feesh, but they had no feesh, so I had to get the duck in a can. I don't know how they did it, but some guy figured out how to shove an entire duck into a jar. WOW. Definitely recommend this spot to people who like ducks in jars. Lol, kinda reminds me when Apple got stuck in the jar. She probably wouldn't taste as good though. Anyways, 500 million thumbs up. For all you people who love great food, and have a little of bit of money to spend. This is the spot to go in Montreal. The bathroom's are really nice too. I was thinking of having a big party in there after eating all that duck....
Had such an amazing experience at La Champagnerie! We traveled from New York City to celebrate our friend's Bachelorette party. I emailed with Margot who helped me secure a reservation for our group. She was quick to respond and so informative! She gave us plenty of options for different budgets, as well. We ended up having the blind tasting menu for 11 guests. Not one course disappointed us! Our server was attentive and friendly. Don't forget to ask to saber your bottle! Thanks for helping us kick off a great Montreal weekend!
My wife and I are spending a week in Montreal and taking in all the sites when we came across this bar quite by accident and fell in love with the staff, the ambience, and the selection of champagnes. My wife favors the bubbly. As of this writing, I've tried 3 of their specialty cocktails which are all tasty, but settling on their Classique because I like bourbon. We've visited 3 times already. If you wish you can open your bottle of bubbly with a saber after careful instruction (it's easier than you think). We love this place and will take this memory back to Miami when our vacation ends. Good job mes ami!
We had a big reservation on a Saturday. The food was so good, everything we ordered was tasty. Service was excellent they were very quick and super friendly. Music was on point. All in all I would highly recommend. Not easy to find a spot that has good food and good vibe to stay after eating and party.
It was the perfect place to host the event of a hundred people that I had to organize for work. The entire Champagnerie team was dedicated to ensuring that we had a great evening. Atmosphere, music and food ... # 1!
It will not be the last event that I will organize at this establishment.
I went for my birthday and had a very nice evening. The server was super nice, the recommendations very much appreciated. The waiter took the time to show us how to slash the bottle, it was rather fun to do it yourself!
Went on a long weekend night to celebrate my friends birthday. The DJ played really good music and our waiter was very kind. Food was good, not to die for, but was good. Pricey but to be expected in Old Port. Overall I would recommend for a night out with friends to enjoy Montreal old port.
I have always had a blast at champagnerie. I usually get there earlier so I've never really ran in to an issue with waiting. Music is generally good, drinks are slightly more expensive but the vibe is worth while, I would say a definite place to check out for a night out.
This was a great place to eat and drink. Went there for work's Christmas party and we had a great time. The food was excellent and the alcohol served was really good. The service was really nice and the ambiance was really fun.
Really wanted to like this place - our server was quirky but helpful, and using the champagne sword to open the bottle was a great experience. Was on the pricey side though, and we were overcharged for the bottle vs. what was on the menu. Likely won't be back.
*EDIT* - Price wasn't changed before payment, didn't want to make a scene as the patio was closing.
I went there today near 5:45 and after some time i can hear very violent abuse from kitchen and they were using very bad language and food was also poor in taste.
The view is pretty nice (tight yellow lo-cut dresses) huge selection of drinks. Charcuterie board wasn't that good, 3 different sausages and 1 meat. Cheese plate was good
Great place for birthday party's. The Champagnerie did it with brio. Music was very good too. This is a supperclub for the second service so notice to the sensitive Ears :)
Excellent food, good cocktail and nice place with good music. But beware of the price .... On the other hand the service is not very pleasant with waiters in a hurry and who push everyone for lack of space. Finally a friend had to bring his girlfriend in the evening and the bouncer told him she had to buy at least a bottle of field ($ 110 min) to get in ... No comment ...
Food was actually very decent. Big portions. Our waitress was so kind and friendly. Music was nice once it became a club after dining hours. Will be back!
Had an amazing time during one of their raw food nights. Excellent food and atmosphere. Champagne was, of course, bubbly and delicious. We've tried their ostrich dish, salmon tartare, and poutine with filet mignon. Let me tell you, we were not disappointed. Service was great, too. Good crowd. Definitely a 5 star place.
I'm working on it in 2018-2019. The team - both service and food - was amazing. Qualified people a check mark above the average of licensed establishments in the city in my opinion. Too bad we can not say the same about the management team. Too bad I had to resort to CNESST to receive my vacation pay. Serious guys?
Couldn't go wrong with anything you order from the menu. For us we always start with PEI oysters and their famous poutine (one of the best montreal has to offer).
My visit to the place dates back to Valentine's Day last year with my spouse because we said 'why not pay the bill' considering the cost that we were ready to pay. Surprisingly, we liked the place. Attentive waitress despite the loud music, the food and the wine choices were delicious too. By cons, star less because we had to wait at least 25 minutes at our table after asking the waitress for the bill (she began to drink shooters and chat with colleagues she met on her way).
Horrible service! From the girl at the door asking us to show her an email of her reservations. I had planed for a 10+ service but wish happened we ended being 5. She asked if we knew about the bottle service we said yes! But we want to wait for my other friends to come before I order. She took 3 of us inside the club and followed around like convicts to look for our friends and order NOW or leave the club. The place half empty with no bottle services going on at 1am. She said those were clients that had dinner and decided to stay. They were 2 girls standing around us. I went out to celebrate my birthday I don't need to be chaperoned just so you can have money if I came out its cause I knew I was ready to order. We decided to leave and took our business and money where we were appreciated... Restaurant Bordel which was wayyy better and we had a blast! I will not be returning !
Absolutely awful. I called to book Monday for a group of 10. I was told it was well noted that I was going to have my seat for Saturday evening. I called back on Thursday to make sure everything was fine with the reservation. On Saturday, when I arrive, I am told that there is no reservation in my name and that we are young (22 years old) to buy champagne. The hostess tells me that the best they can do is put us at a table with 2 seats and that, if we spend above $ 500 ... Worst customer experience of my life.
Great experience. Our bartender listened to our preferences and helped us to select a sparkling wine that suited our preferences. Also provided great guidance that assisted in me sabering the bottle on my first try. Great location, staff, and selection of drinks.
I've never written a review before but this warranted one: Booked a table for a party 5 months in advance only to arrive and have our party split into two high tables and chairs which could not be moved together since they were connected to the wall. Some people in our party awkwardly sat in the middle with no table space for food just so we could all talk without having our backs to each other. When we ordered food some of it arrived right away, others took almost an hour to be delivered!! They "upgraded" a friend's dish to lobster as an apology for the wait without asking if she liked it or was allergic to it (pretty sure they grabbed whatever dish was ready and just gave it to her since we were getting frustrated). She doesn't like lobster so she had to give her plate to another friend. The server was also extremely rude to another person in the party about the tip she gave him. They did give us some extra food and a free bottle of champagne which is why they're getting one star. Otherwise, the experience was a bit of a disaster.
Horrible experience here. I had a group reservation 10+... And they gave us the hardest time. They were DEMANDING my party to give the bouncer a credit card (or else they wouldn't let them in), the waitress AND owner were pushy and rude... Just over all such an unpleasant experience.. After I purchased a bottle of champagne, I left. I was so upset, they ruined my birthday for me.
I was so disappointed with this and will NEVER come back here again. I don't know how they stay in business with this type of customer service!
To Margot and her Team, Just to acknowledge the work of the service team, we had a great evening and the service was impeccable, as well as the meal. In addition for a group of 30 people ..., there are no large restaurants in Montreal that can insure like you. Good job!
