Historical museum exploring the development of Montreal within the setting of a 17th century former Governors residence. Particular focus on the political and military forces which shaped modern Montreal and Quebec. An interesting exploration of the way indigenous, French, British and North American cultures have fused together and conflicted with each other.

A very pretty historic monument showing what New France was and life at that time.
Museum very well maintained and pleasant to explore.
There are a lot of explanations and artefacts to discover and the audio contents help to plunge into this universe.
I recommend visiting this little pearl of history in the heart of old Montreal.

The whole place takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to go through properly. Each room is very unique and provides a lot of history to learn. There is a creepy ghost feel I have to admit. Price for adults was under 10 bucks. Worth a quick stop.

Lots of information about Montreal and French history. Very immersive; sometimes you feel like having gone back in time! It's a relatively small museum, but not too expensive and definitely worth it!

The place was nice but I did not enjoy it because of the tour guide. She was a lady with red hair. She explained only and did not allow us to speak. It was always as obsessive as if we were in a forbidden history lesson. We did not see much. She only took us where she wanted to explain.

Interesting museum, however the exhibit was still under construction when we went and many of the displays were not fully functioning (e.g. the video portion was often not working). The reconstruction of the original gardens is amazing.

It's more like a house than a castle. Inside, there is only one room all in wood that makes castle. The place is good for learning the history of Montreal and Quebec. But not for the monument. The gardens stretched over 3 hectares they now only 100m2. In short, Canadians are not as fond of history and their heritage as the French ... For $ 11 the entrance think well before going there.

interesting place to visit, you learn many things about Montreal,
however considering the size of the Musee, entry price can be lowered. Also, when we enter we were told that garden should be visited as well, but then when we were finishing the tour, we were told that garden is closed for some private event...that is a minus. was it so so exciting? no, it was an OK experience.

A quaint little museum with a lot of history. A hands-on museum with lots of interesting exhibits that showed the history of Montreal through the eyes of the various people that resided in this house.

An enchantment!

An enchantment!

A favorite for the War Flowers exhibition that was presented, it was very moving. I shed a small tear in front of almost all the modules and find myself in the middle of the 68000 names of the victims of the war ... Just Wahoo! A very busy atmosphere but an important memory duty. It was conducted brilliantly so a big congratulations and thank you for allowing us to see that.

Very good family visit
Audio guides are both accessible and interesting. Various fun activities make it possible to keep the interest of the children awake.
It is a Mecca of Quebec and Canadian history.

Nice place. I visited it quickly during a children's party organized on site. The activities were enjoyed by the children. Mostly dress up and write with feathers. The making of the brioche was less popular and it was tough, tasteless when baked. I found the experience too expensive because of it. On the other hand, I really want to go back to see the museum in its entirety.

Very nice historic house. Lots of information via the electronic kiosks and the basement with game play and very nice surprise interaction. The 13 open rooms were filled with history and discovery

House-museum of human size. Sympathetically arranged, the audio documents are well done as are the comments to read in both languages.
We go from room to room while progressing chronologically in the history of Quebec, portraits of characters with names of boulevards, objects of olden days, touching documents. The exhibition (in May 2019) is being redesigned in the lower part of the house, it's frustrating of course.
The garden is very cool
