If you're in the military, Central Texas College is the easiest and cheapest way to earn an associate degree. Most classes don't even require you to purchase textbooks, you just show up to class and do the assignments to the best of your ability. It's a foolproof way to earn a diploma!

Terrible school. They make everything so hard unnecessarily and then get an attitude when you refuse to settle for their rude or nonchalant responses. There are some good people there but the bad apples outweigh the good ones.
This review is specifically for the Testing Services Center and my visit on July 12, 2021. I was there for an 8:00am exam. The CTC signs and the PVU website state that the center opens at 7:30am. This was not the case when I arrived at 7:45am. There was a large line of people waiting. Businesses need to follow their posted business hours or update their information if hours are changed.
While waiting for the office to open a man came out and introduced himself as the Director of the Testing Center. He then proceeded to warn the group of students (all adults, I might add) about proper behavior and that we were on camera and that they wouldn't argue with us and that the police would be called if necessary.
I was appalled at this and could tell that others were as well. This director said that there was an "incident" the week before with another person. Well, if that was the case then that should have been kept between the person and the testing center. There was no need to threaten and lecture a group of adults who were there to take exams in the early morning and treat us like criminals. I'm a teacher and if I had spoken to my students like this before they took a major test I would have been disciplined.
There are a few very nice, helpful staff in the testing center but during my last three visits in the past two months I've been very disappointed in the very slow check-in times, lack of opening when they say they'll open, and rudeness. I strongly recommend choosing other testing locations if possible.
CTC is located at the corner of Clear Creek and Hwy 190 at the edge of Killeen. They get students from all over the US. I had nothing but wonderful teachers there in the Medical Lab Tech program. They have a planetarium as well as a duck foundation. You can grill and sit at picnic tables also where the ducks are. Great picture area also. They have a nice upgraded bookstore. There are also dorns and family housing available.
The admissions department, bookstore staff, and financial aid office staff are rude and condescending. The administration does not acknowledge that health and other problems beyond one's control can lead to an interruption of studies and delay graduation plans. I just received notice yesterday 5/24/2021 that CTC will not allow my daughter to complete her studies there because the two year "deadline" has expired. They only communicated with us at the last minute which made things more difficult, but not impossible, to transfer to another college. Their attitude also implied that they wanted to keep my daughter's FAFSA scholarships and grants but not allow her to attend. I will file a complaint with the Department of Education about these issues so others do not have to deal with the same things.
CTCs response is so lame. I talked to someone in the registrar's office today and they were clueless. I was told that there are many students who have been at CTC more than 2 years. I personally have a double major BA with 173 credit hours, and two MAs yet this college wants to limit a student's ability to study with a time limit. They say they put the students first, but that is a lie. There are also laws under the ADA that prohibit discrimination against students with disabilities which CTC violated with my daughter.
Whoever was working in the testing center on the morning of March 8th needs to be fired immediately. She was completely unprofessional and couldn t even give directions to a building. When I told her that I didn t see any street names around me and instead told her the buildings I was around she refused to guide or help me. She was short and either had a bad morning or just a bad attitude. Called yet again to set up an appointment to take a test and the only time she could get me in was past the deadline I needed to make. Instead of offering to transfer me to see what arrangements I can make, she again got an attitude and said there s nothing she can do. I did not answer the phone aggressively and did nothing to deserve the sass from that child. However the nursing line did an outstanding job on guiding me and giving me other options to take my test.
This school is not worth the time or effort. I wouldn t give this school a penny from my pocket, I emailed countless advisors while trying to get myself signed up for courses and heard nothing back. When I did hear back it was an automated email that they sent out explaining to do literally everything I had already done. Do not pay to go to a school that offers no support to their students. CTC is a joke. And to add the cherry on top they reply for me to reach out to them on FACEBOOK, the unprofessionalism is unreal. I wish I could reply to their dumb request because I don t even have a Facebook; do I look like a sad middle aged woman? No.
I wanted to apply at this school. They have made it so hard to do for no reason. I sent everything they asked for. I just couldn't give an address they were no help. When I asked for a VA rep I was never contacted by one. At this point it maybe better to find a different school.
The instructors are very nice and have always been there to help me and have always been understanding, especially during the pandemic. The registration office needs some major work done. You can easily spend 3 hours waiting for someone to see you only for them to send you back home with a paper you now suddenly need. They re mostly all friendly but some can be very rude and condescending. The bookstore is just about the worst college bookstore in the world, no joke. When they were open the staff would be very rude and inconvenienced when you asked for a book you needed. Now during the pandemic, it has taken almost 4 weeks for two books to get here. Then they cancelled one of my books because it wasn t in stock and told me to call back every day to see if it was in stock and then order it again, absolutely ridiculous! Nobody has time to call the bookstore everyday asking about a book that should ve been here weeks ago. Not to mention the lady I spoke with was very rude. It would have been nice if maybe they contacted me saying the book was out of stock or something but they just decided to cancel my order without warning. Luckily my professor already knew there could be a problem with getting books and is very understanding and patient while most of his students still get the book. If you can, definitely go to a different bookstore or try and order it on Amazon. Anything is better than that monstrosity of a bookstore.
