I was a volunteer Tax Preparer at the Auburn-Gresham location. Fellow volunteers and CEP staff were supportive and conscientious. Most clients were great but a few were a little trying lol! The facility was adequate with individual work space cramped.

My unhappiness was strictly with the organization heads. While I was trained to protect and respect client confidentiality, they did not do so for the volunteers. I decided not to return once I discovered my info had been widely dispensed without permission.

I am an alumni of the Progress Program. I joined because I wanted to learn how to effectively manage my finances and the debt matching program was definitely an incentive. During the program I asked many times if I would still be eligible for the reward program if my debt had increased and I was told yes by both the director (Satori Bailey) and (Lorena Gonzalez). I was told that as long as I had proof that I was paying down debt, I would still be eligible. Long story short, when the evaluation period came....I was told by the the director, Satori Bailey, that I was ineligible for the reward. This definitely spoiled my experience in the program. I traveled from the south suburbs to attend, paid for parking and made sacrifices to be in this program.Seemingly this issue added to the problem that I was trying to overcome. I'm not sure if the communication wasn't clear, or if the questions that I asked were not clear enough but this could have been avoided if I was told the correct answer from the beginning! All in all, I am very disappointed with my experience with the Center for Economic Progress...I can only hope that what happened to me does not happen to anyone else that joins this program.

This place did my taxes for free. Besides they give you financial advice and college prep. The volunteers are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Minorities should take advantage of these free services.

Thank you Eric Sternberg for all your help. When times got financially hard I'm glad that the Center for Economic Progress was there to offer their services and representation in dealing with the IRS and negotiating an offer and compromise that I could not ever imagine was possible.

About Center for economic progress

The Center for Economic Progress (CEP) is a non-profit organization that has been providing financial assistance and guidance to hardworking individuals since 1990. The organization's mission is to help people move up the economic ladder by providing them with the resources they need to achieve financial stability and independence.

CEP offers a range of programs designed to help individuals improve their financial situation. One of their most popular programs is the Tax Assistance Program, which provides free tax preparation services to low-income families and individuals. This program helps people maximize their tax refunds, which can be a significant source of income for those struggling financially.

In addition to tax assistance, CEP also offers a Life-Improving Financial Tools program that provides education and resources on budgeting, saving, credit repair, debt management, and more. These tools are designed to help people take control of their finances and make informed decisions about their money.

One of the things that sets CEP apart from other organizations is its commitment to personalized service. The organization's staff members work closely with each client to understand their unique needs and goals, developing customized plans that are tailored specifically for them.

CEP has helped thousands of people achieve financial stability over the years. Their clients come from all walks of life - from single parents struggling to make ends meet to recent immigrants trying to build a new life in America.

The organization's success can be attributed in part to its dedicated staff members who are passionate about helping others succeed financially. Many staff members have personal experience with poverty or have worked in other social service organizations before joining CEP.

Another factor contributing to CEP's success is its partnerships with other organizations throughout Illinois. By working together with community groups, government agencies, and businesses across the state, CEP is able to reach more people in need than it could on its own.

Overall, the Center for Economic Progress is an invaluable resource for anyone looking for help achieving financial stability and independence. With its range of programs tailored specifically for low-income families and individuals combined with personalized service from dedicated staff members who truly care about helping others succeed financially - it's no wonder why so many people turn towards this non-profit when they need assistance moving up the economic ladder!
