After one visit, my family became members of Woodford Cedar Run. I can't believe I've lived 15 minutes from this place and never known it has existed! The staff are all very passionate and knowledgeable about the animals there. Each enclosure includes information on the type of animal as well as a specific note of that animal's story. In hiking trails are cared for and clearly marked. Highly recommend everyone check out this hidden gem.

This was a great place to visit!

This was a great place to visit!

There were a lot of hawks, owls, and other birds to see, and while it's unfortunate they can't survive in the wild, it is nice to know that there is a place like this to give them a home with staff who cares. There were plenty of workers around cleaning the enclosures and feeding them, so they seem to be well taken care of.

They provide information on each of the birds and their situation that led them to being there on each of the enclosures, too.

I saw various other types of birds in the wild here. The trails are very nice and easy to walk.

Overall, it's just a very enjoyable place to come to relax, learn, and see some wildlife! I wouldn't hesitate to bring an injured animal here if I came across one.

Dropped off an injured bird thinking I was doing a good thing, got a passive aggressive letter in the mail a few days later about not donating any money for the animal I dropped off, despite me agreeing to donate the money later in the week (had no cash on me). As someone who has worked at several animal rescues you can tell these people just want the donarions. I get it, they are not funded by the government and animal care is super expensive, trust me! But to be rude is not necessary. I had never been there before and didn't know a donation was required. Also super sketchy they won't let you get any updates on animals. I've heard from others the staff have horrible attitudes and I guess I had to learn the hard way. Really disappointing considering the idea of the rescue is amazing.

Woodford Cedar Run takes care of all kinds of native wildlife. The staff at the Nature Center and Animal Hospital are very knowledgeable about what they do! The resident animals are mostly out feathery friends, but the mammals and reptiles they have are interesting. The education team is fantastic and great with kids!

Amazing people who do wonderful work. Someone carelessly drove into a group of geese in front of our toy store today and we were able to bring the injured bird to them for help, basically in the middle of the night! Thank you so much.

Cedar Run is a gem of a wildlife refuge and needs to be supported and perpetuated by the community which it serves. Not only are there nicely maintained walking trails with scenic forest views, there are also many different varieties of wildlife, all being nursed back to health, which you can visit as you meander throughout the grounds. Complete with a picnic pavilion, gift shop and friendly staff...Cedar Run is a fantastic place to visit and bask in the tranquility of nature.

We loved it here. Our 2 girls enjoyed learning about different animals. The staff is really friendly and helped us get around. My kids loved the 'talking crows which were really friendly and the deer who ran to us to get pet(even tho we couldn't pet it). We hiked the white trail which was nice and short. It's well kept too. Make sure you add some bug spray, there were a lot of signs warning about ticks.

The guy at the front was super nice! The whole place was super clean. I took my 3,6 and 7 year old and we walked the .75mi trail and they were fine.

They enjoyed it so much they asked to buy a season pass!

Awesome little hiking spot with a small zoo filled with rescue animals. $5 per person to walk the trails and see the zoo, so remember to pay up front. This is also a pretty awesome place for a wedding venue, my friends were married here in 2015 and it was such a fun wedding.

My children love it here. They help animals that can t survive on their own and there are different birds that keep the kids occupied. The indoor nature center is also cute for the little kids and you can walk the paths and see the animals even when the nature center is closed. Vtrainers Personal Training

What a wonderful place, I can't say enough! All of the staff was so friendly. Lots of stuff to learn & so much beautiful nature to enjoy on the trails. My 5 year old had so much fun! She loved seeing Mika the Raccoon (her favorite animal), he is such a character! She also loved the one-eared squirrel & Socrates the Turkey Vulture who followed her around pen. We "adopted" Mika the Raccoon & my mom "adopted" Apollo the Turkey Vulture. We cannot wait to go back! Thank you Cedar Run for all the hard work & love you give for these special wildlife animals!

Really great spot, they take in over 5000 animals a year!

We found an injured rabbit in our backyard and brought it over. They took it in immediately, cost nothing but an optional donation, and said they would rehabilitate it and release it back to the wild. Excellent and friendly staff and they have a beautiful reserve.

About Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge

Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge: A Haven for NJ Wildlife

Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge is a 171-acre wildlife sanctuary, nature center, and rehabilitation hospital located on the edge of the New Jersey pinelands. The refuge is dedicated to preserving and protecting the natural habitats of native wildlife species in New Jersey. It offers visitors an opportunity to experience nature up close while also providing a safe haven for injured or orphaned animals.

The refuge was founded in 1957 by Jim and Betty Vanderslice, who were passionate about wildlife conservation. Over the years, Cedar Run has grown into one of the largest wildlife rehabilitation centers in New Jersey. The refuge provides medical care and rehabilitation services to over 5,000 injured or orphaned animals each year.

Visitors can explore Cedar Run's many trails that wind through forests, meadows, wetlands, and ponds. Along these trails are observation decks where visitors can watch birds and other wildlife in their natural habitats. There are also several educational exhibits throughout the refuge that provide information about local flora and fauna.

One of Cedar Run's most popular attractions is its raptor aviary. This large enclosure houses several species of birds of prey that have been rehabilitated but cannot be released back into the wild due to permanent injuries or disabilities. Visitors can watch these majestic birds up close as they fly around their enclosure.

In addition to its rehabilitation services and educational programs, Cedar Run also offers various events throughout the year such as guided hikes, birdwatching tours, summer camps for kids, and more.

Becoming a member of Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge not only supports their mission but also provides members with exclusive benefits such as free admission to events and discounts at their gift shop.

Overall,Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge is an excellent destination for anyone interested in experiencing nature up close while supporting local wildlife conservation efforts.Their dedication towards preserving NJ's natural habitats makes them stand out from other organizations working towards similar goals.Come visit this beautiful sanctuary today!
