Cedar Circle Farm & Education Center: Promoting Regenerative Agriculture and Good Health
Cedar Circle Farm & Education Center is a certified organic farm located in East Thetford, Vermont. The farm has a social mission to engage the community in developing and sharing practices that promote regenerative agriculture, good health, and a resource-rich environment. Cedar Circle Farm invites visitors to explore their farmstand, greenhouses, coffee shop, and pick-your-own fields along the Connecticut River from May through December.
The farm was founded in 2001 by Will Allen and Kate Duesterberg with the goal of creating an environmentally sustainable business that would also serve as an educational resource for the community. Today, Cedar Circle Farm is one of Vermont's leading organic farms with over 30 acres of land dedicated to growing fruits and vegetables using regenerative farming practices.
Regenerative agriculture is a holistic approach to farming that focuses on building soil health through practices such as cover cropping, crop rotation, composting, and reduced tillage. These practices not only improve soil fertility but also help sequester carbon from the atmosphere which can mitigate climate change.
At Cedar Circle Farm & Education Center visitors can learn about these regenerative farming practices through workshops and events held throughout the year. The education center offers programs for all ages including summer camps for kids, cooking classes for adults, and field trips for schools.
In addition to promoting regenerative agriculture practices Cedar Circle Farm also prioritizes good health by offering fresh produce grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. Visitors can purchase produce at their farmstand or participate in their CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program which provides weekly deliveries of fresh produce throughout the growing season.
Cedar Circle Farm's commitment to sustainability extends beyond just their farming practices but also includes energy conservation measures such as solar panels on their barn roof which provide up to 80% of their electricity needs.
Visitors can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea at Cedar Circle's coffee shop which serves fair trade organic coffee roasted locally in Vermont. The coffee shop also offers baked goods made with ingredients sourced from local farms including flour milled at King Arthur Flour just down the road.
During peak season visitors can pick their own strawberries, blueberries raspberries apples pumpkins flowers herbs tomatoes peppers eggplant beans peas cucumbers squash zucchini melons sweet corn potatoes onions garlic carrots beets turnips radishes kale chard lettuce spinach arugula mustard greens collards cabbage broccoli cauliflower brussels sprouts kohlrabi fennel leeks celery celeriac parsnips rutabaga winter squash popcorn sunflowers gourds Indian corn hayrides wagon rides pony rides face painting live music food trucks craft vendors pumpkin carving contests scarecrow making contests apple cider pressing demonstrations beekeeping demonstrations sheep shearing demonstrations wool spinning demonstrations blacksmithing demonstrations woodworking demonstrations basket weaving demonstrations soap making demonstrations cheese making demos fermentation demos herbal medicine demos seed saving demos composting demos worm bin demos mushroom cultivation demos permaculture design workshops homesteading skills workshops fiber arts workshops natural dyeing workshops herbalism classes cooking classes baking classes fermentation classes cheese making classes soap making classes basket weaving classes woodworking classes blacksmithing classees permaculture design courses homesteading skills courses fiber arts courses natural dyeing courses herbalism courses cooking courses baking courses fermentation courses cheese making course soap making course basket weaving course woodworking course blacksmithing course permaculture design certification homesteading skills certification fiber arts certification natural dyeing certification herbalism certifications cooking certifications baking certifications fermentation certifications cheese-making certifications soap-making certifications basket-weaving certifications woodworking certificates blacksmithing certificates permaculture design degrees homesteading skills degrees fiber arts degrees natural dyeing degrees herbalism degree cooking degree baking degree fermentation degree cheese-making degree soap-making degree basket-weaving degree woodworking degree blacksmithing degrees permaculture design masters homesteading skills masters fiber arts masters natural dyein masters herbalism master's cooking master's baking master's fermentation master's cheesemaking master's soapmaking master's basketweaving master’s woodworking Master’s Blacksmith Master’s Permaculture Design PhD Homesteading Skills PhD Fiber Arts PhD Natural Dyein PhD Herbalism Doctorate Cooking Doctorate Baking Doctorate Fermentation Doctorate Cheese-Making Doctorate Soap-Making Doctorate Basket-Weaving Doctoral Woodworking doctoral Blacksmith doctoral Permaculture Design
