Cattleya srl: The Leading Independent Film and Television Production House in Italy
Cattleya srl is a renowned independent film and television production company based in Italy. With over 60 films to its credit, including several English language projects, and more than 10 TV series, Cattleya has established itself as a major player in the entertainment industry.
Founded in 1997 by Riccardo Tozzi, Giovanni Stabilini, and Marco Chimenz, Cattleya has been at the forefront of Italian cinema for over two decades. The company's mission is to produce high-quality content that resonates with audiences both locally and internationally.
Cattleya's success can be attributed to its unwavering commitment to excellence. From script development to post-production, every aspect of the filmmaking process is meticulously planned and executed with precision. This attention to detail has earned Cattleya numerous accolades over the years, including multiple David di Donatello awards (the Italian equivalent of the Oscars).
One of Cattleya's most notable achievements was producing "Gomorrah," a critically acclaimed crime drama based on Roberto Saviano's best-selling book about organized crime in Naples. The show premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 2008 and went on to become an international sensation. It was later adapted into a feature film that won the Grand Prix at Cannes.
In addition to "Gomorrah," Cattleya has produced several other successful TV series such as "Romanzo Criminale" (based on Giancarlo De Cataldo's novel), "Suburra" (inspired by Carlo Bonini and Giancarlo De Cataldo's book), "ZeroZeroZero" (based on Roberto Saviano’s non-fiction book), among others.
Cattleya also boasts an impressive roster of feature films that have garnered critical acclaim both domestically and internationally. Some of the most notable titles include "La Grande Bellezza" (The Great Beauty), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2014, and "Dogman," which won the Best Actor award at Cannes in 2018.
Cattleya's success is not limited to its productions alone. The company has also been instrumental in promoting Italian cinema on a global scale. Cattleya has collaborated with several international partners, including HBO, Sky Atlantic, and Netflix, to bring Italian content to audiences around the world.
In recent years, Cattleya has expanded its reach beyond traditional film and television production. The company has ventured into new media platforms such as virtual reality and gaming. In 2020, Cattleya launched a VR experience called "Gomorrah VR – We Own The Streets," which allows users to immerse themselves in the world of "Gomorrah" like never before.
Overall, Cattleya srl is a trailblazer in the Italian entertainment industry. With its unwavering commitment to quality and innovation, it continues to push boundaries and set new standards for what can be achieved through film and television production.
