The most welcoming church I ve ever attended. Proud member!
The Cathedral of Hope has a Spirit of Peace, Love and Acceptance that is difficult to quantify. The outside was clean and well lit. This is the world's largest gay Church.
Breakfast, haircuts, clean restrooms and material donations for the indigent and homeless. Professional armed security officers keep things safe. Only thing lacking is hot tea and background music.
My husband guards this church his duty to protect live the people there
I love going here on Mondays to serve food to the homeless and underprivileged it's a great place to be of service if anyone's looking for to do anything outside themselves we could always use the help on Mondays be there at 9 we'll find work for you it's fun and rewarding

This place is truly incredible. I've never been to a church that as a lesbian my wife and I have been so welcomed with genuine warmth, love, and kindness. And not been condemned for being gay. This church truly believes that we're all Gods children and being gay is not a sin or sickness to be fixed, cured, rid of. My wife and I joined this church and found a truly incredible community that loves and celebrates all people
Best place to worship God. No judgemental mentality.. Inclusive progressive and very friendly...
I found my spiritual home. Radical inclusion - that is Good News!!
Was a wonderful place to hold a memorial for a dear friend of ours!
Very nice congregation and welcoming. For a big church it has a small feel.
An amazing place of worship with all walks of life and faith very much welcome
Amazing ace and welcoming to people of all religons and all walks of life lime me as im both pagan and transgender
So glad to call this our home church! My partner, Loraine Hudson, our kids and I are very pleased with all the support that was shown to us through our very hard time early this year. Thank you for being so welcoming! We love Cathedral Of Hope-Dallas!
Amazing vibe, everyone is so well dressed and positively inviting.
This place is where Jesus Christ lives in the hearts and actions of other's. So much love and support.
Since this review section has already been politicized by some who preach tolerance then turn around and judge entire congregations without having met any members of said congregation, I will point out that nowadays you can 'shop' for a church that believes what you believe with a pastor who will say what you want to hear. Give me the truth no matter how uncomfortable it may be. God Bless All.
For a deaf man, just now attending my first service, I was quite comfortable, there were ample welcome and a very very talented sign interpreter named Karl(KL) who made the service lively to say the least.
The Reverend's message was deep and personal. I will return each week gladly.
Beautiful church, beautiful service, beautiful message
I've been a member for over 20 years. I've just read these reviews. I'm appalled by the negative ones. The United Church of Christ, Cathedral of Hope follows a strong liturgical calendar, feeds thousands of homeless and lives it's message. Extravagant grace. Inclusive and is welcoming.
Are we a perfect church? No, but what church is? Come to church, any church. Get involved in ministry. Don't walk around wounded because a church didn't make you feel loved. Believe your beliefs as I will have mine. We as a church do not chastise your beliefs and the hypocrisy that you live. Please refrain from criticizing a church that you truly know nothing about. Peace and Blessings,
This church is radically inclusive and very much alive with God, who is still speaking. The homeless are fed every Saturday morning, and those in need can take advantage of a food pantry.
Nice Church ... Nice people ... Too bad the location is far or rather "not so visible" to the public ... The important thing is to connect with GOD ..!
As an active member of the United Church of Christ visiting Dallas, I wanted to worship at this church I had heard about over the years. Experienced wonderful music, sermon and liturgy at the 11:00 AM service. It was the first Sunday of Advent. Really glad to have gone. If I'm ever back in Dallas, I will return.
I cannot accurately convey how wonderful I feel when I am in this place of worship.Dr.Neil & staff are the best at everything! The music is glorious beyond belief. Your life will greatly benefit when you attennd... at least once!! This will change you...for ever!
The experience is wonderful!!!! They make you feel so comfortable and wherever you are on life's journey, they welcome you with open arms!!!! This is a United Church of Christ based church. We attend the Wednesday night service, PULSE Worship and the Sunday service. They are introducing a new contemporary worship service, sneak peek this Sunday that'll take place in August on a weekly basis.
Wonderful people! Great volunteer! Great eats for the homeless and they serve them, buffet style. God bless them!
Traditional services where great. After 9 months of regular attendance to Sunday service people kept pushing membership classes on us. Attending the quarterly 2 1/2 hour membership class was a mistake for us. Decided to opt out at the end of it after a lot of awkward and uneasy moments. They constantly harped on the need for more money. One flamboyant speaker in the membership class actually said " 10% offering during service is great but we need you to donate more cause ya'll love extravagant things. We all know you love the heat and A/C during service and we all need paid although none of us make much".
Was surprised they wanted a committed one year donation in writing right then and there after taking a collection during the class after they served pizza.
The Jesus I know wouldn't be concerned about money for bigger, better and more frivolous things. I prefer an accepting church that is concerned more about spiritual needs and less about how much MORE money I'll be giving because enough never is enough. We will not return and wouldn't/couldn't recommend this place for worship. Just my honest opinion.
Never felt welcomed whatsoever either in the English or Spanish mass. So sad. People don't even welcome you as a newcomer. I'm glad others feel welcome though. Blessings.
Lovely place to worship and the Music Ministry is wonderful!
Tell me what you need to help me with what I need until I get what I need in ministry.
I really liked the.celebrasion.today this day
Amen
Cathedral of Hope is the largest non-denominational, predominately gay and lesbien congregation in the United States. However, ANYONE and EVERYONE are welcome at the Cathedral for worship!
I love my living church Happy to be free and serve God as he did to me. Thanks to the body of Pastors and Senior Pastor Ministers. Thank you
They serve breakfast on Saturday and lunch on Monday
Nice city of Dallas Texas on another occasion (ch / cdle)
This place offers a breakfast for the homeless on Saturday mornings and a lunch as well on Mondays. I have never been to this church on a regular service but I'm sure it is awesome!!
Went by just to check their hours for service, and some guy comes out and is like "you're on private property!" I was looking for a new place to go to but these people don't seem that friendly...
Kind and generous people who truly care and love others.
Nice facilities and they take a moment to give back to the community.
The Cathedral of Hope is the world's largest gay Church. It is clean, well lit and well maintained. The campus is peaceful.
Cathedral of Hope is filled with the most open, inclusive, loving, spiritual body of people I have ever met in my life. Words cannot express how much I love the fact that the church is so committed to "being the hands and feet" of Jesus, out in their community doing relevant and essential work for people who really need it. The more I go, the more I learn, and the more I grow as a Christian. My only complaint is, I wish I had been fortunate enough to have found this place sooner!
Grounds a bit unmanicured but a nice grouping of rocks make an ideal meditation area
Great place to worship. Celebration of life service was excellent. Pastor was great in her words
A Vibrant, inclusive and progressive church where any and all are welcome! Great choir and great orchestra and probably the largest predominantly LGBT church in the world and lots of straight people too! A part of the United Church of Christ, an open and affirming denomination! Come visit and you ll never want to leave!
Iwnt Sunday Morning, i was welcome and something happened that never happened to at any other churches, I got 3 hugs from 3 different people that welcomed me, made me feel really good, I will return .
This place gives hope to everyone who interacts with it. I was in need and this church openly took me in and I came out of my darkest cross. I appreciate the volunteers, so much . God bless them :)
Walking out was my highlight. Felt like an intruder. My shadow will never darken their door step just a bunch of hypocrites. They don't live up to their own words. I felt more welcome when I stumbled into a pit of viperrs. I'm so relived that some people are welcomed and others are not. Warms the deep spaces of my heart. I was very hurt today. I needed to feel Gods love instead I got the cold shoulder. My day was extremely ruined.
Each week is an awesome step in a Spiritual journey.
They serve the homeless free breakfast every Saturday. The volunteers are LGBT something the Christian/Baptist church would never do in a million years.
A church of inclusion and Hope! Reverend Neil is engaging, caring and on point with his messages. I always leave with a lighter heart and a lingering song!
Always helping the community and a genuine place of to worship!!!
My wife and I attended this passed Sundays service as visitors and we absolutely loved it. We have been looking for a church to attend where we would be able to attend and feel comfortable to be ourselves and still praise our God. It seems we have finally found the place to go worship and have fellowship at. We look forward to attending next Sunday and many more to follow. Thank you for making us feel at home!
Felt welcome from the moment I stepped into church.
Great, welcoming people. Very friendly and open to all. 9 and 11 more traditional service. 10 am contemporary service and 1pm Hispanic Sunday services
Since this congregation has become part of the United Church of Christ it seems to have lost the stronghold of gay religious conservatives who were hell-bent on creating a liturgy that fed into their former Pentecostal, Southern Baptist, and non-denominational background which was apparent by their oppressive style of worship. A core nucleus of church leaders were determined to keep that toe-tapping Gospel music within the liturgy, reminiscent of the very denominations that stood in condemnation of them.
The liturgy was a hodge-podge of various forms of worship, i.e., southern Baptist and Pentecostal music, a somewhat poorly-orchestrated low Anglican procession, and a Wesleyan style of preaching, straight out of Emery University in Atlanta, which was the highlight of the service. Most disconcerting were the gay and lesbian elders who insisted on laying hands upon you and praying over you at the Altar in what can only be described as "born again" diatribe while you are receiving Eucharist. It was such a confusion of ministries and occurred during the holiest part of the liturgy (Eucharist) Laying of Hands is a good thing and by all means, a healing station is a wonderful ministry, but should be separate and apart from Eucharist, which is when most people are in quiet Communion with God. To combine such a ministry with the holiest part a liturgical celebration is not only confusing, it interrupts a communicant's experiential relationship with her/his Creator. It should also be an elected ministry to pursue and not one that is forced upon the communicant as it was at the Cathedral of Hope. It was not only rude, it was downright presumptuous.
Overall, my experiences were less than stellar and seemed more like a lot of gay men and lesbians who are seemingly playing church and doing more of an in-reach and exclusive ministry rather than an outreach and inclusive ministry. I hope and pray that this congregation has finally developed a spiritual direction as a result of their alignment with the United Church of Christ.
Wonderful congregation for the LGBTQI community (largest in the US) but welcoming to all. They are active in the community and have ministries helping those less fortunate in the area. Beautiful sanctuary, garden, bell tower and chapel. Facilities are available for certain events, weddings, etc. Services are available in English and Spanish.
As a member during my residence in Dallas, TX from 1993-2006, I loved the services, the people, and the staff. All are welcome here. The church has a positive presence in the community because it really is a church of Faith, Hope and Love. Feel the presence of the Holy Spirit and share it with those who have Christ in their hearts.
