Do yourself a favor and stay at Fasano when visiting Rio. If you re looking to relax, enjoy the truly Rio vibe stay in Ipanema beach. Copacabana is more like Miami South Beach, very crowded and noisy. Ipanema has a much more classic vibe. Highly recommend Fasano. The hotel has a breathtaking view, 5 star service, great staff, the room had everything we needed. The shower and bed were amazing! Special shout out to Marcus from the front desk. Very polite and helpful with whatever we needed.

If say 4.5 stays would be fair. Not really feeling the 5 stars. A bit mean with the amenities, no kettle and you have to pay for the coffee pods. Currency exchange was a rip off 3.5Rs to 1usd when you get almost 4 in cambios. You get a great view of the beach.

I didn't stay at this hotel. Several friends did and invited me by the hotel for a drink. Our first contact with hotel staff was not very welcoming. But, another employee quickly took charge of things and we were able to see the rooms and have a glass of champagne on the roof deck. The rooms have beautiful ocean views with a small balcony. For my taste, they were a bit on the small-ish side. The roof deck/pool was very large and spacious with really spectacular views. My friends loved it, even with the service hiccups.

Amazing location, friendly staff, especially Bruno- uber helpful and accommodating- for foreigners like us (unlike the staff at Fasano in Angra). Beautiful amazing views, but for the price (and even with the upgrade) bathrooms were moldy and rooms too damp for comfort. They probably don't keep AC on at all times that causes these problems and maybe subpar upkeep... had to change rooms bc showers in the unupdated floors were moldy. We were given smaller rooms which were available in the newly renovated floors in addition to our rooms!!!!! Again, many thanks to Bruno who made every effort to accommodate to our needs. It's people like him that makes a great hotel memorable. I still prefer Copacabana Palace. Much brighter and better layout, but can't beat the rooftop view which the Palace doesn't have as the pool is on the ground floor. But for 1/3-1/4 the price, if for decent rooms and great views, I think the Fairmont may have done the job. But they may not have Bruno!

I stayed here for a few days while in Rio and was really happy with the overall experience.

The location is hard to beat - right across from the beach, and I think Ipanema is a bit more chill and relaxed than Copacabana. Views from the rooftop pool / bar are absolutely incredible. Very cool spot to hang out. Hotel restaurant is quite good (albeit expensive). Overall service was great, staff speak English, no issues.

Rooms maybe a little on the small side, and the non-ocean view half of the hotel isn't anything to write home about, but it was comfortable and quiet.

I'd go back for sure.

This hotel is perfection. The location, the service, the food, the rooms, the pool! I loved my stay here as a solo traveler. The concierge was brilliant in arranging my various activities and bookings before my stay. The pool has a great vibe at the weekends and the bar up there do fantastic cocktails. All in all a relaxing paradise away from the bustle of Rio.
