Very quiet; extraordinary hard-working customer service team; sumptiously-furnished rooms in the tradition of an English country house; and dinner that's worth coming back for. I suspect the management keep a very close eye on the standards here.

The king suite was amazing and everything you could want! A big soaking tub, double sinks in the bathroom, coffee pot, microwave, fridge, two bathrooms. The decor was fancy and clean. The actual communication with staff was somewhat sparce and confusing. We were told about a club house across the street we could use but not what was offered there. (After I left I found out they had a pool table etc) nice fire pit in the back to sit out and enjoy the evening. Breakfast was included and made to order. Did not get in for spa services as they were booked and did their own appointments (not through the inn). Overall I had a great stay and would return.

Solid relaxing spa environment. Richie has been cutting hair for years so my hair cut only took about 20 minutes but is versatile and cut very well. Products are spa priced so maybe skip down to Ulta. Mom has mani and pedi done here all the time and they are trendy and fantastic.

This is one of the best hotel stays I ve ever had. We were greeted at the door by the desk clerk who was very kind and walked us to our room. Our room was large, spacious and clean. They offer a complimentary sit down breakfast that made me feel like I was in a 5 star restaurant. I would recommend this hotel to any and everyone!! We will definitely be coming back!

I booked the chef's table not knowing what to expect. Let me tell you, what I thought may have been an inflated price in State College ended up being one of the best meals I've ever had; I would pay 30% more to have that experience again. The chef asked ahead of time if there were any allergies or food restrictions and we let him know to have full creativity over the event. With the hotel price being as inexpensive as it is I wouldn't hesitate to stay the night and make a small overnight trip for this again. Thank you Chef Paul and his team for a very memorable occasion!

Nestled in the woods, this hidden gem is the perfect end of day refuge after a long day of PSU campus hustle and bustle. Quaint, peaceful, picturesque, serene, delicious, and welcoming! Highly recommend!

The food was absolutely wonderful. I can not discredit this. Prepared and plated beautifully.

Had a few hiccups while I was there.

The black haired lady at the front has a serious attitude problem and made me feel unwelcome.

My server wrote down that I was allergic to potatoes, however when my filet came out, there were mashed potatoes on my plate.

Might I add that I am deathly allergic to potatoes, I know it's uncommon, but I prefer to stay out of the hospital.

There are few places like this in the state college area, next time I consider one it will probably be elsewhere, where I feel welcome and the cooks are attentive enough to have a little respect for severe food allergies.

Excellent service. We were put in a private room due to space limitations at the time we tried to make a reservation. Prompt service from staff. Food was excellent. Prices were above average but we knew that going in. Would definitely recommend and go again.

I had the opportunity to stay at the Carnegie Inn and Spa for the first time this week. The entire experience surpassed all my expectations. Every person working at the front desk was friendly, engaging and extremely willing to help. My room was spacious and had a warm and welcoming feel to it. And the food was cooked to perfection. I was there on business, but will definitely be back with my Wife! If you are in the State College area, I highly recommend the Carnegie Inn and Spa!

Our stay was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to ensure we had ice.

The room was very clean and decorated nicely.

The hotel amenities were great.

The only negative I can think of is the parking lot is very small and fills up quick, especially when the restaurant is busy.

My date and I ate at the chef's table. Very nicely set up but could have a better view to watch the preparation. The food was good but not to the quality level I expected for the venue and very high cost.

My dining experience was very elegant. The food and service were exceptional along with my time spent there. We were seated by a fireplace to dine and it was very romantic. I would say that this was the finest dinner we've had ever.

I felt like I walked into a Clue board game. We drank in the library, ate dinner in the dining room, and were murdered with a pipe in the study. Just kidding about that last part. It's a great place for a nice dinner with a loved one.

Excellent laid-back atmosphere, in a golf resort area. Not like your regular Hotel but, it's an old fashion style Inn and spa. Staff for extremely friendly, warm and willing to meet your every need. Nice original ornate decor, all rooms still use lock and key. Very cozy warm and friendly stay. The food is made to order at breakfast and there's quite a cute little bar! Fantastic place to stay and not too far from Penn State and other amenities!

Just coming back from New York, we lived happily in this cosmopolitan city. After reading the comments on the Internet, I reminded my family that the employees here may be a bit unfriendly. The fact is the opposite. We lived in that four days, the hotel staff were all very pleasant, including the infamous "redhead", this time she checked in for us, she also called for us A car goes to the airport (a price with a taxi).

Special event last evening--celebrating 21st Birthday with Granddaughter. Where? With Chef Paul Kendeffy at the Carnegie House Inn. The evening was an over-the-top experience--ambiance, service, food, champagne. Worthy of at least a 10 Star rating. Exquisite! Memorable!

This place was like a frat house. Noisy and rowdy. There was a private party and they had a band that played for hours to unacceptable hours. Very disappointed because I feel like this is a really expensive place and should try to give customers a peaceful and nice experience.

Ambience is very well executed. Food was a mix of stellar and poorly prepared. Salmon appetizer was very nice. I have to say that the salad was a perfect mix of tart greens, silky dressing and crispy bacon. My entree was a lamb wellington that was disappointingly soggy with vegetables that were not cooked properly. All the rest of the food was quite good as was the service until the server brought us the entrees........my employee ordered filet and he received short ribs. He made her aware of the mistake when she sat both of the plates down (mine was right), but she left us to check. She came back, took my fork off my plate and took both plates, for what I would assume would go back to the kitchen. NO NO SHE DIDNT. SHE DELIVERED THE TWO PLATES TO TWO OTHER PATRONS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RESTAURANT!!!
I was so stunned i didn't say anything. Still stunned.
We moved to dessert and we ordered an apple that wasn't an apple. A white chocolate shell full of apple dessert that, I was told, was an otherworldly experience. My dessert was smores served outside at the fire.
How cool right?
So I started to go to the fire. No. The waitress started the fire and rather than take the dessert to the fireplace she makes me carry the rather large plate outside. She gives me no napkins and I sit down in a chair and it is full of the days rainwater. How unreasonable of me to expect that she would dry off a seat or two for us at a restaurant where our dinner would be $300. Nope.
It has great potential but it seems operations are a little sloppy. The owner of this establishment would be mortified by ny experience and further mortified to know of my position since they are a AAA 4 Diamond Restaurant.

Beautiful clean rooms that pay attention to the small details. Room was clean, beautiful, comfy. Lots of amenities. A very large tub and a shower separately. Restaurant had tasty food. Free breakfast off their limited menu but still many good options. I got eggs benedict, yummy, it comes with juice or coffee. For dinner I ordered mushroom soup but it was pureed and way to thin for my liking. Also kinda bland. Then I ordered the cheese goat & mushroom ravioli in cream sauce. It was heavenly. So so delicious. A bit on the pricy side. All the staff was welcoming and accommodating. A beautiful building inside and out. On a golf course. The clubhouse across the street is where you can go swimming in the pool, watch a big screen TV, cozy with a fireplace( outdoor n indoor), a pool table and kitchen to make snacks. Vending machines. I don't have anything negative to add.

Carnegie Inn & Spa is a wonderful spot for superb cuisine served in a gorgeous surround with impeccable style and panache.
The menu offers a terrific variety certain to please almost any palate.
We have eaten there a number of times and have always appreciated the experience "from soup to nuts".
It is our first choice for entertaining family or friends, especially at times of celebration when we trust nothing to be left to chance.
We feel it is "the choice" for fine dining in State College. Coming from NYC I feel Carnegie Inn & Spa is competitive with just about any restaurant there at which we have had the opportunity to dine.
Highly recommended for a memorable evening.
