Carmens is a wonderful restaurant with amazing italian food made from scratch. I had a birthday dinner for my mother last Saturday & Carmen & his family made the event a memorable experience. Outstanding food, great drinks & excellent hospitality. For those who complain about the wait times etc... I would like to say the wait is worth it. Thank you to Carmen, his son, daughter n law, & the young lady who served us that evening. Carmen I didn't forget about you, I will be bringing you that wine I told you about.

I hate to leave a poor review but this restaurant needs to step up their service. It was not busy when we arrived so we were told to seat ourselves. We tried to choose a well made table, in a quiet, air conditioned spot. However we were very disappointed to find after we sat that the table is made with 2 Table cloths and the 2nd one had a significant amount of crumbs and debris - like the first had been shook off onto it thruout the day. We were in a bit of a hurry as we only had 1 hour. So when the waitress came by we asked for waters and discussed the debris with her. She offered to let us pick a different table, blaming it on other staff without any real apology. But we let her know we were pressed for time and would just stick to the clean side of the table. She left our menus. We hadn't visited before so we had no idea this was going to be a pricey restaurant. The outside does not indicate that. The inside leans that way with real table cloths but not when you add the casual service. The end result was we stuck around for a while, decided what we would order, and after a significant wait decided to look for our waitress. We found staff chatting up people at the other end of the restaurant so we decided we were better off with fast food and left. ( Since we never received waters or real service, there was no reason to stay. I thought one of the staff was going to notice us leaving but when I stopped to tell them, I couldn't get there attention without causing a scene. )
Didn't expect my steak to be $42 but everyone enjoyed their meal. Service was slow but pleasant and it seems to be the way it is almost everywhere. Carmen's strength is in their Italian dishes. I should have considered that when ordering steak. I'll be back!
We have loved Carmen s in the past for the good food, but tonight s wait for dinner was over 2 hours. It took almost 30 minutes to get recognized by the waitstaff after we were seated. I am sure the meal will be great, but it cannot be worth the wait any more. We will not be back.
Carmen has made some of the best Italian food in Bradenton for many years. Recently it would appear he has been having trouble finding good help (like many of us small business owners). You could get your food in 10 minutes, or two hours. It s difficult to say here. Atmosphere will likely be good, food will be great, martinis are good, wait staff will likely be average at best.
It took 30 minutes to get the salad, an hour and ten minutes to get food. Kitchen needs to get organized, wait staff knew how to apologize, so this seems to be the norm. Never got the appetizer we ordered. Good food though.
OMG! Where do I start?! Worst dinner ever! I even e-mailed the restaurant after our experience and of course no response! The list is too long to be written, service, bartender and food was simply AWFUL! We've eaten here before and was great. I don't know how this place stays in business with the way we were treated this past visit. If you're in a large group you're catered to, if you're a couple forget about it! I guess money talks!
