My kids in first and we had a problem with a kid being a bully. They took it very serious and it seems to be settled. Teachers and principal seem nice and friendly.
They placed a bench called the "Buddy Bench'' on the playground. The idea is that lonely kids that have no one to play with at recess will go sit on it until someone gets a guilt trip and goes to invite them over. All it does is help bullying. Bullies will see that lonely kid and think "Now I know where to hit them where it hurts." So not only does it guilt trip kids into playing with kids that they don't want to, but it hurts the kids that sit on it.
A year or so ago, when the music teacher(who was a jerk sometimes) quit, the school got a long term sub. The sub basically had the kids watch movies. For a year. They learned NOTHING. As a result of the school's incompetency, the entire student body is a year behind in music, which will be devastating come time for them to go to middle school and its music program. Good job, Carlisle.
What a wonderful group of professional educators the children are fortunate to have in their lives.
