Failure to provide adequate care, did not check on...

Failure to provide adequate care, did not check on my mother often considering she was an aspiration risk, next to nurses station, they left her unattended during meals unless I was there, and failed to frequently check on her. I felt my mother was left unattended for too long, resulting in her being down after aspiration or heart attack requiring extreme measures to revive her. Ambulance called, had to be hospitalized and sent home for hospice. I would not recommend sending a family there unless another family member can be there 24 hours a day.

If I could give zero stars I would. I have extensive knowledge of the ins and outs of rehab bc I have because I have been in several and have a medical background. I am helping a close friend right now. This facility did a discharge of a severely disabled man (with little prospect of improvement) with 24 HOURS notice to a home where a home eval had yet to be performed. This home has no ramp and no provisions in place for SAFE discharge as the discharge date was to be a month off. Beware that this is the care and concern your loved one will receive. If you do come here have an attorney ready and be well versed in what facilities can and can t do.

Rooms were nice, the front entryway lady was helpful in signing me in and directing me where I needed to go... And when housecleaning came in to the room, she was very courteous and a cheerful friendly person.

Beware of this place. My Grandfather was there for the last days of his life. It seemed that he was basically neglected, and the lack of care from the staff is even more alarming.
He was basically in a coma state, and a staff member put a large piece of hard food in his mouth, where it stayed for DAYS until a family member found it in his mouth. He could have choked on it.
There was an incident where a nurse stated that he gave my Grandfather is narcotics, and family was there the entire time and knew FOR A FACT that he was not given the drugs. So where did the drugs go??? The nurse did something with it. Again, staff and administration doesn't seem to care very much.
My Grandfather was also left completely unattended on at least two occasions that we know of. Someone in a coma like state should not be left in a bathroom or a chair, sitting up, alone.
If you care about your family member, avoid this place.

My father stayed at Caretel Brighton for rehab after his spinal surgery. We were very happy with the care provided by physical, occupational and speech therapy as well as the nursing staff. The few bumps in the road during his stay were quickly and effectively addressed. I was happy with the communication to keep me informed of his progress and treatment plans. He was happy with the accomodations and spoke highly of the staff. We are glad we chose Caretel for his rehab needs.

This is by far the best rehab facility I've ever been to (and I've been to a lot)! My neighbor (whom I care for) was there for rehab for about 3 weeks. First of all, the building is absolutely beautiful and so clean! Most places smell bad when you walk down the hallway, but not here. The staff was very friendly and kind. We had a meeting with all of the managers every week so we knew exactly what to expect. The food was very good and the chef was very nice. The rehab was no joke! They pushed her to make progress I didn't think was possible. The nursing staff was very attentive. She had a pressure wound from being in another place (that we will never go back to) and the nurses at Caretel were able to heal it. They worked very well together. Dr. Samlik was very knowledgeable and exceeded our expectations. I can't say enough good things!

Every caretaker is quick with a smile and a Hello each day as I walk through the building to my mom. I ve witnessed countless interactions over the past year of hugs and I love you to the residents from them. I ve overheard conversations of concern and caring for residents through mom s open bedroom door. I m very grateful they had a place for her 16 months ago...

How does one manage to lose a patient you may ask?...

How does one manage to lose a patient you may ask? Welp these people have the answer just ask them. Is a loved one having an emergency and requires an ambulance? Thats ok they will be taken to hospital just dont expect to be notified. Also dont expect them to know when the patient is back at this facility because they will have no clue. Oh wait thats not all. Ready for the grand finale? Need someone to help in the room? Just push the button right....WRONG you will be waiting a minimum of 45 minutes for a nurse to respond...hope it wasn't urgent.

Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I do think there should be a smaller ratio of patient and staff. I understand that more activities would help some of the patients more, but all in all everything is good. I love the Penny Lane, wonderful place to spend time in for guests and residents.
