Staff was very cordial. We booked way ahead to get a Sat - Sunday stay and paid up front. We didn't want to check out on a Saturday morning after a Friday evening wedding. Close to final deposit time, they asked to break contract and change to Sat - Saturday rental. We complied.
House was beautiful, but many parts were not clean. 4 Bedrooms/2 baths. Lots of light bulbs out. Backyard was littered with sticks everywhere. Kitchen sink spout was moldy. Crumbs and bugs in kitchen drawers. Dirty, greasy stove hood. Washer machine gasket was gunky and moldy. Ripped doormat. Etc.
Beds and baths seemed clean.
Nice location. Lofty beach towels.
We left the place cleaner than when we arrived. Ugh.
On top of that, contract said safety deposit would be returned within 14 days, but it was a full month before we received our $500 check, and that was after email & phone calls after the 14 days passed. That's just not decent business practice.

I am surprised at your response a year beyond our post. We did notify you during our stay of the issues, but we were not about to wait for someone else to clean the dirt and unsanitary areas (i.e. moldy faucets, food bits left in drawers and on floor around oven.) Your reply about a "30 day return of security deposit POLICY" is contradictory of the stated 14 day policy in our signed CONTRACT. That's what prompted me to call and email you when our deposit had not yet been returned.
Your company offered no compensation for our rental troubles. How would you feel on your vacation spending more than an hour cleaning up debris and sticks in a backyard to make it useable? How about bleaching spouts and sanitizing kitchen and running all kitchenware through the dishwasher? Or having to clean and remove mold from a washing machine before you could even use it? Your response was that there was a long-term renter in there prior to our arrival and that it must not have gotten the deep cleaning it was supposed to have!
Cape Cod Associates Real Estate had no problem changing our rental from 8 days to 7 days, even though that extra night (paid) was a primary reason we made our commitment with you.
Lastly, we departed and arrived home and found we had left two brand new high quality allergy preventing bed pillows behind ($98 to replace.) When we contacted you for help to retrieve them, the agent claimed they were reluctant to do so. Furthermore, they wanted to charge return shipping charges (completely normal, but also so stingy after we left that rental much cleaner than when we arrived, and the agent knew that!) We ended up not pursuing.
You didn't see us this summer of 2020 because we don't feel it's a wise choice to rent through Cape Cod Associates Real Estate. It's too bad, because it was a lovely house and setting, and I feel bad for the property owner.
