I live in the Matrix and the management has been great and extremely helpful. I had some issues with some water leaks in my ceiling and they made sure that the membrane of the roof, causing the leaks was repaired. In addition, they made sure that the damage to my ceiling was fixed. Sue and Sarah are very kind and very helpful. I am grateful to have them here at the Matrix.

I have worked with Canlight for over 15 years and ...

I have worked with Canlight for over 15 years and must say that this is one of the better companies I have worked for in my 40+ years in Property Management. We have a great dedicated team who care about the properties they manage. We strive to please our board of directors and home owners of our condominium properties as well as property owners of our residential and commercial properties.

The company does not know what they are doing except our present property manager is the best we have had in the last seven years. We have had 6 property managers since we have been in our building and she works extremely hard. What I cannot stand is people on the board make comments to me that she is not qualified. The board member should be removed for talking like that behind her back to a resident. The said board member is not qualified to make such a statement. The problem here is that our board won't hire her for another day to get things done faster so they are always on her case.. If I had my way Canlight would be gone. Everyone I speak to in the building likes her and contactors enjoy working with her.

I emailed to Canlight Hall Management on 22 April, 2014 but i received no response.

As a concerned owner i have no choice but to go public as Canlight Hall is spending our money.

Below what i emailed but no response received.

What the hell is going on in my building where i have invested my life by working hard. I live in this building 22 years and i never have seen something like this before.

I bought my unit to have an investment but what is going on here it looks like the board are stupid and blind as well.

We know James Hennessy is blind and he don't live here.

Why the hell is he the President of our building.

Our building has been very dirty since this crazy board and management fired our best superintendent that we ever had.

I never remember seeing a Superintendent like Selim.

He took care of our building with dignity and professionally.

Our building was kept clean well and beautiful.

Now we see cleaners come and go and we see the security sit in their ass in the office 24/7.

I heard security and cleaners cost around $1000 a day.

Is this board normal to allow our crooked manager to spend our money like this.

Don't the board believe that Canlight Hall Management is fooling the board and taking advantage of our money.

Our maintenance will go high and we will pay the price not Jonathan and his company.

I never see manager in the building and we are paying them for what.

It looks that the management is also spending our money to hire lawyer and write letters to us the owners.

Cant the management write letters themselves.

Our buzzer not working, whats going on in our building. We have lots of garbage all over the building. Chutes are not clean, carpets are not clean, the cement in front of building is never washed like Selim used to do.

What the hell is going on here. Where is our money going. Is the management and our board a scam.

Who is responsible for these actions?

Why the owner don't raise their voice. Are they scared of the blind board and crooked management.

We need to remove these crooks as soon as possible because our money is being spent.

Our unit value will drop and we will suffer not Canlight Hall Management the crooked company.

We need to act and the board should not allow the management to further screw our building.

My family and I have just moved in to our new home. Management was great and we were made to feel at ease immediately. She answered all our questions quickly. Thank you for a great first impression.

Canlight management is the worst. Our property man...

Canlight management is the worst. Our property manager is barely on site, she doesn't pick up her calls, she doesn't respond to emails. Things either never get done or done at an extremely slow pace.
Will not recommend them.

[Edit #1] I have to edit this review, because apparently it is attacking the property manager personality. I have to reply her with the long email thread starting 2017 to remind her that she didn't respond to emails.

[Edit #2] The property manager resigned. New property manager has been assigned, and it's the same. For a month now, the problem is not being fixed.

Don t bother with canlight they re a terrible management company. First off good luck getting a hold of anyone. Second they allow properties to deteriorate by not having common sense and putting safety & important basic rules put in place. You ll regret choosing this company to take care of your future investment, they have no idea how to run condominiums smoothly. The excuses they come back with are quite entertaining... never dealt with such a poorly ran business. I owned a townhouse prior to this for well over a decade with almost zero issues before moving into this place. Once I get on the board my main focus will be replace these guys with a highly functional company.

Canlight has been our Property Management company ...

Canlight has been our Property Management company for 6 years, and both as a home owner in our community and also now as a Board member, I have nothing but praise for them. Our Property Manager David is exceptionally knowledgeable about legal and property matters, is always available to advise us on projects big or small, and follows through to ensure that work is done in a timely fashion. He answers emails or phone calls within a few hours. He understands the challenges of our smaller community and works with us to ensure we have the all the information available to make the best possible decisions. A big thank you to David and his staff!

They have been managing our condo for a while now and from the start it was down hill. They don't answer email, they don't return phone calls. Best to go with another management company. We're getting ride of them this summer.

Terrible customer service. They do not reply to emails, completely ignore any and all tenant requests, hide out. The odd time you do get through they say that they are working on it, but nothing is being done. I and several other condo owners have made numerous complaints over the last year and no response from any Canlight leadership. Complete silence. What are you being paid for?

I'm already very concerned with this property mana...

I'm already very concerned with this property management company. I have been trying to contact the property manager since January 14, 2019. I have had ZERO response to my emails (I have sent 3). I also finally at the end of January sent a fax and a registered letter through Canada Post and still Marilyn does not respond.
How is a property owner supposed to ask questions and get answers when there is no respose forthcoming?
I'm already concerned that my condo fees are being wasted by a big property management company with little care or concern for the owners.

I would not recommend this property management gro...

I would not recommend this property management group. Our board recently switched to this company and it has been downhill ever since. The "manager" does not leave any contact details in her signature. There is no one to call, no one to email. We do have someone who manages issues but unfortunately his hands are tied, all he can do is contact the 'property manager' who doesn't respond to him either. We have had significant issues with broken/no hot water, no A/C, last summer bees built a nest in the exterior wall of my balcony and their response was "We cannot control where bees fly" ----- ARE YOU SERIOUS? Terrible service. Very disappointed.

They started managing our condo around a year ago. I would strongly recommend against this organisation. They do not reply to emails or phone calls. We had a leak in the lockers and it took then 3 days to respond to repeated emails and then another day to come on site to investigate.

This Canlight management in our commercial building is a disaster.
They should be called CanDark . They minimized access to washroom, left flood dirty, open all entrance 24/7 while no security at night and security cams not working properly.

Absolutely terrible management. They continually m...

Absolutely terrible management. They continually make baseless accusations about any renovation work being done and are clearly not managing the property professionally. Received random accusation calls from management which after being inspected turned out to be baseless. They force you to use the so called service elevator entrance which is nonsensical because you have to go through another small corridor. They force you to book the service elevator even for the smallest things yet they do not ensure it s available at the time you book it...

Terrible management services. Our property representative is unresponsive and does not do what is promised. We had an issue with our parking space and we did not hear from Rebecca D. Terrible experience. She says she'll register the license plate, that she will resolve the parking ticket, but all empty promises. I took the time to complain and only then did she return our emails. 2 months later. I am very unhappy with Canlight Property Management. Please make sure you hire capable people who can get the job done.

I am currently a Director and Secretary of a Condo...

I am currently a Director and Secretary of a Condominium Corporation consisting of 27 units and have worked with Canlight Hall and Donald Kason for several years.
A lot of upset in this industry is related to communication. This is derived from Managers being over worked as a result of low condo management fees and difficulty in finding trades people when required. Getting quotes is a very tedious and time consuming process which costs money. This is discussed all the time at the CCI seminars. If owners want better service, they have to expect to pay more. As I have been told, Owners want 5-star service but are only willing to pay 3-star pricing. This is not Trivago? Do you want high end hotel or a second rate motel?. You get what you pay for. As a Director and long-time condo resident, I have come to understand this. Do not blame the car for not delivering performance if you feed it inexpensive fuel and do not maintain it properly. From my experience as a Director, owner expectations are often unrealistic. Canlight Hall and its staff have always been knowledgeable, helpful and forthright with me. From my experience and years of condo living, Canlight Hall is definitely in the to 25% of Condo Management Companies.

The bigger the problem, the better they get.

The bigger the problem, the better they get.
I have worked with Canlight for about 7 years now - they acquired through M&A the previous management company for our building.
Canlight has been wonderfully supportive and have pursued a policy of continual improvement. Many minor issues and annoyances have been dealt with and in addition in our building there have been a few major issues, and Canlight has been excellent in helping us deal with these, supplying on-site project managers for large projects and ensuring that the contractors perform properly.
The basic day to day operations depend on the quality of the management team in the front office, and Canlight has provided us with excellent building managers.
When I compare our building's experience with Canlight with other building management that I am aware of in this neighborhood, I would not hesitate to recommend Canlight.

So far, average response time on email
is between a week and 9-days. And for issues related to heat and security in my unit, this is unacceptable. Our previous property manager always responded within a few hours and faster during the day - lack of a phone number in our property manager s email signature is a good indication of how responsive they are to resident/owner needs in our building.

Communications posted in our building blame the previous PM company for issues (which always happens with a transition like this).

Absolutely AVOID this group at all costs. Total lack of Leadership, Management and unable to communicate at all with constituents. They 'manage' our building shared facilities at Fort York and are totally incompetent. 1 Star is overrating this company.
