The office staff at Candlewood has been friendly and helpful since I've rented with them! Also the maintenance dept. was GREAT! My furnace went out the day after Thanksgiving and after giving the initial phone call the maintenance man was here within a half an hour and had it fixed within an hour! GREAT JOB!!!

My roommate and I live in the Oxford apartments and we recently got our kitchen updated! The more modern update really makes the kitchen feel more fresh and elegant. The remodel only took our unit a day and a half, so not too big of an inconvenience!

Cheapest places to live in Point for a reason. The issues we had with our apartment were apparently never the fault of Candlewood Property Management because Candlewood Property Management "doesn't manage the property." ???

Found two roaches upon move-in. They followed up quickly, so I'll give them that. But still gross.

There's a pool-sized hole in the middle of the parking lot from one side to the other. First time I drove in, the standing water made it impossible to see the 2ft deep hole which nearly ripped out my exhaust. When they don't plow for a half a day following snowstorms, you slide right into that hole and spend an hour digging yourself out. And I can't count how many times I fell on the walkways that were rarely salted.

Mold in the bedroom! First time maintenance came to clean it, we were told it's because the baseboard heater was causing condensation due to the walls being so cold because there's little (if any) insulation. But we hadn't run the heat at all yet; it was late fall. When mold grew back, we were told it's because we WEREN'T running heat, so steam from the bathroom was getting in there and not drying. But now we had been running heat because we were told that was the issue, and keeping the door closed so the heat wouldn't escape and make sleeping unbearably cold. Never any mold in the steamy bathroom by the way! They settled on the excuse that it was just due to the poorly insulated walls. Then maybe insulate them better?! Renters have the right to live without mold, and from the other reviews, it seems like this is a common thing!

When we got a subleaser, we paid the $150 fee just for Candlewood to send emails back and forth to us so we could e-sign the lease. It would be understandable if they had to advertise for the tenant and then give our potential subleasers a tour, but WE did that. The fee shouldn't be mandatory if we are required to find a subleaser and showing the place is easier to do ourselves since we've already had to make sure the person is trustworthy.

When our subleaser moved out, we thought we'd never be angry about that apartment ever again. Nope! Apparently you shouldn't even bother cleaning the place, because they're going to do it again and make you pay. (Charging for a bulb that burnt out after we left is super petty btw). They said it took 1.5 hours to clean but I have pictures to prove it was as spotless as can be for an at least 35 year old building that's seen hundreds of tenants. The biggest shocker was that it cost them $35 to remove rust stains from the kitchen carpet (yeah, CARPET in the kitchen) when not a single piece of metal furniture was ever in that room. I'm so happy to be done with this company that I won't try to get my whole deposit back, just to avoid dealing with them ever again!

My statements are true and based on my experience. Your experience may differ. But I'd recommend a box outside Polito's before Candlewood.

For more than 20 years Candlewood has managed our 16 unit property. They have consistently kept
our apartments full, our tenants happy, provided complete and accurate reports and maintained our building with great service and upkeep. The entire staff at Candlewood is wonderful! We could not be more pleased with the service and professional management that Candlewood provides.

We have lived in these apartments for almost 6 mon...

We have lived in these apartments for almost 6 months and love it! The apartment is small and perfect for two people and I love being able to have my dog with me! They are great at keeping up with maintenance and lawn care and have always been quick to answer any questions! Hope to keep leasing from this company in the future!

Fine company to rent with. Maintenance was always prompt with the very few inquiries I had. They were also understanding with showing my apartment towards the end of my tenancy, as I was working two jobs up until very recent, one of which was third shift. That went a long way with me, and I would recommend this company if you are looking for a place to call home.

Our experience with Candlewood Property Management was fantastic. The entire staff is very helpful and friendly. Amanda in the office is super to work with and was of great help with any questions or concerns that we had. The maintenance team is also very responsive and do an excellent job.

I ve been renting with Candlewood for years and they ve been absolutely excellent. The maintenance team is always polite and responsive, I ve never had to wait more than a day for someone to come and check out whatever I m having an issue with. I ve stopped inside the Candlewood office numerous times and everyone there is always very nice and willing to help. Several of their properties are dog friendly which is a huge bonus because that is hard to find! Paying rent is easy and can even be done online. I would 100% recommended anyone looking to rent in this area to check out Candlewood first!

Candlewood Property Management was wonderful to work with! The staff there were always on their A game answering calls, returning emails and meeting in person in an expedient manner. They took great care of us while trying to rent out our home. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking to rent out their property!

If I could rate zero stars I would. They are by far the worst management company I have ever encountered. They don't repair their properties, if they do they don't do it correctly. They only care about money not the tenants. The only reason we rented from them is because they manage most of the apartments in out area. We are moving states to avoid ever renting from them again. If you want to have so much metal anguish from a management company you rip out your hair... Rent candlewood!

I am currently on my second year of leasing with Candlewood- we decided to renew our lease after the first. We love our place. Staff at Candlewood has always been very friendly and helpful. We have had maintenance come in on two separate occasions for repairs. Both calls were responded to promptly. Maintenance staff is very courteous and professional as well. I have been very happy with my experience renting from Candlewood thus far.

Going on my third year of living in the same apt with Candlewood. That in of it's self should say something about the management company and maintenance team. Both sides are extremely responsive and helpful. I've also stayed with the competing management company here in Stevens Point and I can't even remember what they're called, all I remember is it taking 7 months for them to answer why it said my account owed an additional amount. It's incomparable. If you're moving to or around Stevens Point, contact Candlewood, and hope something breaks so you can have maintenance over.

Would be a 0/5 if I could make it so. The front office is completely unorganized and always seems to mess something up in the process of trying to provide a service. And not to mention if you go into the office it's even worse! The man at the front desk will not look up from his computer unless you make a noise. And if you get his attention he has told me in the past someone will be with you shortly when I was just trying to drop off a check. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL! Not to mention the amount of emails you get from the automated web services they run. Or now and the main reason I'm rewriting this review is that the company cashed my rent check but their web services showed I havent paid it, along with a late fee tacked on.

This company is also scared to get any bad reviews on Google. The last time I made a review, (late July 2019), they called and sent the maintenance manager to pressure me to take down the bad review. I can only wonder how many people get pressured like that so their review stays high.

I can't wait to see what they do this time.
AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

I didn't even put in a maintenance request they just saw it on my check in sheet. They were also understanding and respectful of my pet and ensured she was not let out. The office staff are welcoming and polite.

EDIT: Yeah in the email you haven't answered back to we got denied to a different apartment in the same building. And that same income proof was accepted and we were told we didn't make enough and were denied because of that even though we make four times the rent. You would know had you actually read the second email from me. We are renting from someone else where that very income proof we sent you was enough for them but please, continue acting like what I said isn't true.

My husband provided proof that he makes OVER four times required, yet they are saying he doesn't make enough. Literally sent pictures from our bank of pay,and are being told we don't make enough when we make four-five times the rent. Very unprofessional. If you're going to have standards maybe follow them?

If I could give Candlewood zero stars, I absolutely would. After finally finishing a lease with them after one long year, there are many issues that we had with the company.

The first issue that my renting companions and myself had with the apartment included mold. The apartment was leased to us in the summer, and at that time there was no condensation. Little did we know that the winter would bring many issues, and both my wife and my dog became very ill from the mold growing in the apartment. It grew in the toilet, window sills, patio doors, and walls of both rooms in the apartment. We were informed that the mold was there because the apartment we stayed in did not have insulation in the walls, but when contacting Candlewood about the issue we got the run around for a long while after they told us it was our responsibility to clean the mold that was growing around the house. Finally we called the building inspector to force them to clean it, and after that the inspector came one more time in which Candlewood came that day to try to make sure everything was in order when she came. They did not contact us before that, but they did a few months after in which we said everything was alright. Why you ask? It was spring, the condensation had lessened, and therefore the mold had as well. The issue still had not been entirely resolved.

The second issue was maintenance. First, I will say one compliment. When Candlewood finally sent a repairman to fix the issue with our closet, they sent a very kind gentleman named Steven. My wife and I were quite pleased with his work, and he was about the only good thing we ever dealt with regarding Candlewood besides the free candy at the front desk. He was thorough, but in most cases the maintenance people were always lacking, late, and inadequate.

The third issue was with the return of the security deposit. Our security deposit when it was finally returned to us was missing a fairly large chunk from things that were not our fault. Some of the things they included were general wear on appliances and some of the cleaning that they as landlords are required to do before the move in of another tenant.

To top things off, upon moving out of our apartment the inspector came in to our apartment that we were finishing cleaning. The inspector made an attempt to bully us into taking down a negative review that my wife wrote previously, and upon saying no he said that we had no reason to write a bad review and should take it down. Immediately following that comment, there was an implied threat about our deposit when he said to write down our new address should we receive the entire thing back.

The experience with Candlewood has been my worst renting experience to date, and after moving from a house in Wausau to an apartment here for school I can see that this company is a sinful company wrought with greed and dishonesty. They cannot be trusted, and after hearing from our pastor that the company was a bad one we expected to have trouble, but not this much. Seeing how the company treats others on reviews that are negative should be enough reason to see that the company will take no fault and will always place the blame on the tenant. Know your rights, the phone number to a building inspector, and take the time to figure out how to fill out a form for consumer protection, because this company is evil. I would like to highly persuade anyone who wants to rent in Stevens Point to rent from anyone else.

I really liked living in a candlewood property. Pricing was very affordable. We never had issues with our neighbors. Every maintenance request we submitted was taken care of in a timely manner. The lady who did showings was really nice.
I locked myself out once and a maintenance man was there with in 10-15 minutes to let me back inside.
They allow pets at certain units too which was really nice!

The staff is so friendly! They just renovated our kitchen and the maintenance staff were so polite, efficient and did an amazing job! We have cats and they were helpful in making sure that they didn't run out in the hallway with them going in and out. They also brought in housekeeping to help clean up after renovations. It is very nice!

I rented from Candlewood Property Management my Junior year of college at the University Point apartments. My experience was amazing, Kathleen has the biggest smile when she brings tours to the units and always engages with the Tenants. Linda in bookkeeping does an amazing job with Tenants and is always there to help. I was very nervous with this time being my first ever time renting but the employees at Candlewood walk along side you the whole way. I recommend Candlewood to anyone looking for an apartment in Stevens Point, if you are a college student and live at University Point you will walk no further than students in dorms on your way to class!

Lovely!! They came thru for us in the best way! Our son missed a lease renew deadline; but they found him a place a parking lot away. Sweet. However, the time frame of moving out and moving in was a real issue as we live 300 miles away and the moving days were a week apart - not to mention trying to figure out a place for his stuff and a couch to sleep on for the week. Between the office wizard (you know who you are!), owner and maintenance, our son was able to move out and into the new apt the same day!!!! Joy of Joys! Saved him and us money, gas, time, space, potential exhaustion . . . THANK YOU!!!

Polite, professional and personable, this best describes Candlewood Properties and staff. Maintenance has consistently exceeded expectations throughout the many years I have been a tenant: repairs addressed within 24 hours, with most completed within that time frame, too; very friendly and helpful; very good problem solvers. Office staff always return calls promptly, 99% of the time it's the same day; questions and concerns are dealt with immediately; any and all issues are addressed promptly and fairly---More than fairly, really---even situations that would try the patience of a saint.

The owner treats his employees very well; they in turn, treat us well. They apparently screen potential tenants well, too, because there is little to no drama around here.

I highly recommend doing business with Candlewood Properties!

I have rented a number of places in Stevens Point through out the past 6-7 years and I have been very pleased with now being in a Candlewood property. Management is very respectful and pleasant and I know I can always rely on a quick repose to any issues or questions I have. When I first moved in to my new apartment I was not happy with the condition of some items, but I was able to follow management's directions in completing my move in assessment paperwork and make them aware of my concerns. Everything was fixed to my liking within the first week and I have been happy ever since. I've also helped make management aware of other concerns that I have come across in community space and those concerns also are alleviated within a 24hr period. Even though this is a larger leasing company I have felt that my needs have been met in a timely matter and I'm happy to give a positive review.

The furnace in our place recently went out (about 20 degrees outside at the time) I made a maintenance request and they came later that day to assess the unit, then ordered a major part and had it back up and running in less than 48 hours. They also loaned us several space heaters in the meantime which worked great. I m sure this job would have cost easily $500 if we had been faced with doing it ourselves. Instead they repaired it promptly and with no inconvenience to us. Have had very few maintenance concerns anyway but they make it very easy to get things working again, and have good customer service along the way.

Candlewood properties are some of the most organized, prepared and conscientious companies out there in property management. The owner, head of maintenance and office staff due a tremendous job for the people on both sides of the renting equation. The professional, organized and conscientious care they bring to their customers is by far the best I have seen. Their great concern for timeliness and care for the renters as well as the balance of economic function for the owners of each facility is top notch. Keep up the great work.

The staff is extremely kind and are willing to help you with any need that you have! From the showings, to the staff at the office, everyone is wonderful! If you are looking to rent, Candlewood is the way to go!

As my first apartment rental by myself I am impressed with the friendliness and timeliness of maintenance staff. Especially in response to extraneous situations. I've spoken with Jon and Kevin on many occasions and they're always approachable. Their prompt securing of the Texas Ave location after the high profile theft occurred meant everything to me. Also an honorable mention goes to Gunnar who hooked it up with a shovel this winter so that I could help clear snow and dig my car out. Great people + affordable living = happy tenant.

We have mold problems and from talking to other current and past tenants this is not an isolated incident. We have talked with the company three times about fixing the mold issues and only once did they actually fix something. Now there are only four locations in our two bedroom of mold growing.
If you rent through Candlewood just know, they don't like you.

Update on Candlewood review:

Yes. There was one spot in which your company repaired. That spot was one single closet. That did not account for any of the other places including the window sills, patio door, other wall in the second bedroom, and later the toilet and the kitchen closet. The building inspector gave the okay after explaining to you guys that the fan in the bathroom needed to be replaced and that various other work needed to be done. I know because I was present when she came back. Additionally, I'm not surprised that you failed to mention that someone came in the morning of to make sure that everything looked decent for when she arrived. Not only are the apartments built very poorly, but shame on you guys for creating such a dishonest atmosphere. Your reviews strictly blame tenants for issues that are not always their fault and I hope everyone who reads these reviews sees a theme as I have.
P.S: I will not remove this review as your team has asked because the information is still relevant to anyone who rents through you. I would suggest that Candlewood as a whole becomes not only more professional, but more honest. Thanks.
