Horseback riding lessons for kids after school in the Fall and Spring are offered at an affordable price by competent, friendly staff. We love it and will keep coming back! Thank you camp Spears!
Favorite place in the whole world. Amazing people, activities, friendships and memories.
My family and I just did a recent family camp there for four days. We had such an amazing time and look forward to doing it again next years. All the staff there was great, friendly, and helpful. I strongly believe that the staff always make a big difference in what the experience would be like. There are plenty of things for the kids to do to include horse riding, zipline, rock climbing, fishing etc. The food being serve was great as well. Nothing but good thing to say!!!
Went when I was about 12/13 years old made great friends that I'm still friends with and at 41 years old still have memories today
Used to love this camp and we were so happy to hear that it was being saved from closure. My son had a blast here for many summers and made lifelong friendships. He couldn't attend this year due to scheduling conflicts, which was unfortunate, so we thought. I'm reconsidering that after my incredibly poor experience just trying to get some basic information, or a returned phone call.
It wasn't just poor communication, but intentionally poor communication from the new management of this camp. Called FOUR times over the course of a month without a single returned phone call. All I wanted to know was when visiting times were. The previous management knew everyone by face, if not by name, they were welcoming and kind and always responsive to questions. After the last unreturned phone call I left a note on their Facebook page with greater details of my experience and how displeased I was about their refusal to return messages, and rather than address the oversight they deleted my post. They obviously got that message!
If they cannot uphold their own core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility how will they teach those values to your kids?
My name is Sheryl Farrish and I went there in the summers of 1975 (rafting) and 1977 (canoeing) and I still smile when I think about those summers. It was a awesome experience, awesome summer camp.
I only went here when I was going into 6th grade. It was the best experience of my life and I loved it. I wish I could go back there again but I only got to that one time because I think I got it for free or a discount, something like that. But I highly recommend signing your kids up for it because they will make lifelong friends. I m lucky that I m still in touch with one of my cabin mates. I sadly lost the paper with everyone s address on it :(
My daughter loves this camp. The food was awesome according to her and the camp grounds are beautiful. It is that camp visualize in coming of age movies of picturesque scenery, friendships made to last a lifetime, and a moment in a child's life they will remember forever. I wish my parents could have afforded to send me to a sleepaway camp this it would have been a dream come true as a child. So I made it a goal that when I have a child I would do whatever it took to give then this experience; and I gave it to her. She is going back this summer excited as ever. It's worth every financial sacrifice you might have to make because each year of a child's life cannot be redone so make each moment count. Give your child an experience only a place like camp speers provide. Btw, they still do their modern version of a prayer of thanks before dinner ....as a Christian this is so awesome...no worries all people of all religion, race, and from all walk of life are welcome at this truly special camp!!
