Camp Simcha: A Place of Joy and Healing for Children with Serious Illnesses

Camp Simcha is a non-profit organization that provides a unique summer camp experience for children and teenagers who are battling serious illnesses. The camp is located in the beautiful Catskill Mountains of New York, where kids can enjoy the great outdoors, make new friends, and forget about their medical challenges for a while.

The camp offers two programs: Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha Special. Both programs are open to boys and girls between the ages of 5-20 who have been diagnosed with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses.

Camp Simcha

Camp Simcha is a traditional overnight summer camp that offers all the classic activities you would expect from a summer camp - swimming, boating, arts & crafts, sports, music & drama performances - plus some special extras like helicopter rides! The goal of this program is to give kids an opportunity to be kids again - free from hospitals and treatments.

The staff at Camp Simcha includes experienced counselors who are trained in working with children who have medical needs. They provide round-the-clock care so parents can rest assured that their child will be safe while they're away.

In addition to fun activities, there are also educational opportunities at Camp Simcha. Kids can participate in workshops on topics such as nutrition or coping skills for dealing with illness. There's even an on-site school where students can keep up with their studies during their stay at camp!

Camp Simcha Special

For children whose medical conditions require more specialized care than what's available at traditional campsites, there's Camp Simcha Special. This program provides one-on-one nursing care for each camper as well as access to state-of-the-art medical equipment.

Despite these extra precautions taken by the staff members at this program site; it still manages not only offer fun-filled days but also provide opportunities for personal growth through therapeutic programming such as art therapy sessions or music therapy classes which help them cope better emotionally during difficult times when they may feel isolated from others due illness-related restrictions imposed upon them by doctors or family members alike.
