I was a camper here for 2 years and as a counselor for 4 years. I keep coming back because of the amazing people I have met at this camp who which I have become close friends to. This camp has helped me grow as a person and as a leader outside of camp. This lovely camp really made me appreciate the different cultures of the campers and counselors. This is the kind of camp that gives me the nostalgic feeling every time I go back each year and I plan to go back again for many more years.

I used to go to this camp when I was little. I have also been there more recently. The campers have come from all over the U.S. and some of the campers are from mid to lower class families while others are from group homes. The counselors are great with the kids and are former campers. They have jr counselors and
CIT's that help with the kids. It's a safe place where young girls can go for a week and make new friends, hike, swim, do crafts, do skits or dance and just be themselves for a week or however long they are there. The sisters that run the place are great and have been there for a long time.

This Camp is a breeding ground for lesbians I visited the camp over the weekend and while the location by it self is beautiful and breathtaking the people of inhabitants are so so the sisters are not friendly nor are the staff members the have teenage girls that work there over the summer who seem to not be happy no smiling are happy faces the cook personality was great but she prepared some chicken for dinner which was still raw when served the side's were alright no flavor the pool was filled with insects and the teenage girls were lazy and did not want to clean it out when asked I did arts and crafts and the camp staff members were making clay cups for personal use while we had bad paint that was old our paint brushes were dirty and old I asked for clay to make a keepsake and was told they had only a little bit of clay which was a bummer for the kids I was with especially when the staff members had a big bag full on the table and on the ground the girls that work there are studs/ girl boys most of them and the rest are lipstick lesbians they go there because there is no supervision the hills are to steep for the nuns to travel up so it leaves kids to do what they want while unattended
the activities are outdated and needs refreshing ideas to keep one from being bored
I would not go back or suggests this place to anyone but to people who want to explore there sexuality may GOD bless this Camp and its members

I didnt like it the food was nasty. Juliet called one of the boys Rat in Spanish and the kid told her that he was going to tell one of the staff or a nun that she called him Rat but then juliet said that no one is going to believe him. Also the bathrooms are really nasty it felt like a public restroom of the park. The pool, the pool had to many bugs inside that they barley cleaned. And their activities felt like kindergarten. This is why im not going back and DONT TAKE YOUR KIDS!!!!!!

I and many others have been attending this camp for many years. I personally have been coming for 6 years as a camper , CIT , and now a counselor. The camp has changed throughout the years , but non-the-less I've continuously had a positive experience. This camp has helped me grow as a person. As a camper camp mariastella was like a break from home life which it can be for many girls. I know as a camper I was taught to recognize diversity in the world and in the camp. As a counselor I have learned how to care for young children and how to keep them safe in the wilderness. The staff is trained in first-aid , life guarding and cpr. I love this camp with all my heart and I would defiantly send my children here in the future. My best summers are spent at mariastella!!

This Camp is a place of growth and individuality. Working here has helped me grow as an individual and an adult. There may be some difficult campers or some difficult conversations but in the end these situations help you grow. My fellow staff have changed my life and I can call them forever friends and family.

DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!!! My little sister went here when she was 8 and we were expecting a good, wholesome catholic camping experience. To begin, she said the cabins were dirty with roaches everywhere, and the bathrooms were even worse. At one point they had to use other cabins toilets due to theirs being damaged. The camp does not respect the girls sense of privacy. She complained that they had to either choose 5 minutes of solo shower time or FORCEFULLY shower WITH A PARTNER for 5 extra minutes, after which they had to change infront of eachother even if they were not comfortable doing such. Ontop of this, she also complained about meal time. She said during one of her afternoon meals, a girl put sour cream in her hair and the counselors did not do anything to stop it or punish the girl. They limit the amount of food your child eats, as expected of camp, but she said she went to sleep hungry multiple nights, and she only weighed 95 lbs!!!! She said the girls argued CONSTATLY and were always bullying eachother. The counselors were seldom to do anything, and when they did interact with the girls, they hardly changed anything. Among other horrors, said she witnessed a girl get her doll dunked into the bus s toilet to which the counselors only air dried and returned the pony doll, and even one of the COUNSELORS was the victim and cried. She told us about how a bee had gotten into the cabin while they were all changing and she claims that a girl ran around naked screaming bee. Worst of all, my sister is a spanish speaker, and she made another spanish speaking friend. She said she was finally felt comfortable in that crummy place but was quickly told to ONLY speak ENGLISH.

In many ways it was life changing. I met and made friends with girls of various ethnic, cultural, social and religious backgrounds. I was inspired by the Mission and spirit of the SSS and ultimately entered the community.
