Camp Leaders Review

2018 will be my 5th consecutive year working at a summer camp in the USA and I have used Camp Leaders every year. Customer service has always been excellent. No question is a silly question and nothing is too much to ask. Especially in my first few summers, I was incredibly reassured that I was well supported by Camp Leaders, especially involving the visa application and organising travel/flights. Even as a 5th year applicant, I get regular contact from the Camp Leaders office to check if I need help with anything. Camp is the best decision I ever made and my camp has become my second home - and I wouldn't have that without Camp Leaders!

Camp itself was amazing, but Camp Leaders took so much of my paycheck first year, after already paying what I thought was a lot initially, that I was effectively working at a loss.



I'm just glad I didn't run into any problems whilst abroad because they only seem to care about you if you've got money to give based on other reviews. Definitely using a different agency in the future if I am able to attend camp again

I got the position myself and only needed Camp Leaders to assist with my J1 visa. Even though I've only approached them shortly before my flight, I was never rushed by them or explained that the process my be late. Regardless I've done my part as soon as I can. The night before my US embassy interview I got a call from their office saying that the main form I needed to submit at the embassy hasn't arrived but they will post it to me ASAP and I would be able to post my forms to the embassy and continue my application process. I got my visa finally, only it took a week longer, making me miss a flight I had booked. When approached Camp Leaders asking them to take responsibility, they've decided not to, even though a day before my flight I've received an automated text message reminding me to update my visa status as they've assumed I've have it back by then.
Bad communication, back customer care. I guess they don't care.

Avoid using Camp Leaders at all costs. I applied to go to camp with them this year and have been well and truly ripped off.



Don't make the same mistake I have, they are a joke of a company - Use literally any other agency if you don't want to be treated like a mug and have your hard earned money kept from you.

Camp leaders is definitely the best company to go with out of them all, they have representatives who come out to camp while you're there to check on what you're doing and answer any questions you may have, this is something that none of More

Thanks to these guys I spent a great summer working out in America. I was teaching children how to sail which was both enjoyable and rewarding. I would recommend this experience to everyone as it really has taught me many things.

Been with Camp Leaders twice now - in 2014 and 2016. You won't regret it! Honestly the best two summers of my life. Thanks guys!

I love Camp Leaders!! I've had 3 amazing summers out in America. I can't thank the Camp Leaders team enough for my summer in america, they've really helped me through every process, even as a returner. The visa process could seem quite daunting but with their guidelines and them at the end of of the phone answering all of my questions, it was a very simple document to fill in. They even helped with my flights and checked in with me once I got to America, I wouldn't chose any other company to go through for my awesome summer!!

Really helpful with first time going to camp. Interview process was super easy and my interviewer was really nice and answered loads of my questions. Great team willinng to help via email or phone calls. Visa day was well organised which made me feel alot less anxious about the process. And the 24/7 helpline while out at camp was amazing! Really happy I went though such a nice, helpful company!

I applied to Camp Canada through Camp Leaders in early 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the application process the staff were very helpful and assured me that as per their policies I would receive a full refund if not placed More

Staff all very friendly and useful. Found directions on what to complete almost immediately and was able to sort out any issues with ever present help.

I chose camp leaders as my brother did a programme with another one of their companies called smaller earth and had wonderful time. I absolutely loved my time in America and it was truly the best way to celebrate my summer after graduation before entering the adult world. The team were so helpful prior to my travels and ever so helpful once I was there. Everyone I met was so friendly and I truly have made some friends for life. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who wants that extra bit of experience on their CV and Camp Leaders take all the boring stuff into their own hands and helped me plan my trip :)

Thanks to Camp Leaders I had a fantastic summer this year at camp. From when I started my application all the staff were so helpful and informative which helped the application process go smoothly. The office were always friendly and happy to help anytime I phoned no matter what my questions were. Applying through Camp Leaders helped me to get placed at a camp that provided me with a great experience and allowed me to get the job I wanted to do. I would highly recommend for anyone to apply through camp leaders.

I spent a fantastic summer at camp through the help and guidance of camp leaders. As soon as I applied I was contacted by a team member in the office who explained the process to me and what I needed to do. Following the interview, I finished my application and called the office countless time to ask various different questions. Everyone I spoke to was happy to help and not at all bothered by my potentially silly sounding questions. I was lucky enough to be placed at the camp leaders job fair, and after completing all of the paperwork I was off to camp. Having researched all of the agencies before I decided to use camp leaders, i could not recommend them enough. All of the office staff are so helpful and the pricing system is so well explained on the website! If you're debating whether to go to camp, do it and use camp leaders, you will not regret it!

Team Bears! A wonderful company which works hard to get you to where you need to be. As a late comer to the process I had a constant and reliable dialogue with the people working there, namely John, who made sure that I got everything in on time. Very professional and know their stuff. Had a great interview with Lana who was very experienced, professional and comfortable to talk to. My friend has been using Camp Leaders for 5 years and myself for 1, will be using this company every time I go to camp!

Applying to work at a summer camp was easily one of the best decisions I have ever made. Camp Leaders has guided me through the whole process and gave great support along the way, making it possible for me to spend 3 great summers in the USA as a camp counselor. Very disappointed with a company that has been very slow to respond to my sons calls and emails. Now that we are all in lockdown both in the UK and the US the money that was quickly taken no responce to repeated requests to return the funds. We all know now is tough for everyone but for a youngster it's particularly bad as he needs this money. tsurvive survive

Unlike Camp America this company has refused to refund anything after camp was cancelled this year. Poor communication and have ensured that hard working young people who saved for this opportunity have lost out. Don t use them - use Camp America instead...

Camp Leaders is a great company. Their employees are friendly and professional, helping you with every single step to get to America. I could not have done the whole process without them.

disgusting company. all they want is your money and once they have it they stop all communication, support and service. Camp was cancelled 2 days before my departure date due to Covid-19, I received no word from camp leaders themselves at all. They refused to answer calls, took weeks to reply to emails and refused to refund. Once they offered the possibility of refunding, I submitted a request and was told I was entitled to no money back at all. Quoting the services they had provided me, despite the fact I attended no camp, didn't travel to America, and didn't receive any wages from camp as I didn't even get to go. How this company can even operate I have no idea. Camp America on the other hand, offered full refunds to participants and offered continuous support. DO NOT TOUCH THIS COMPANY WITH A BARGE POLE.

My experience with Camp Leaders has been fantastic. They helped me through the simple application process and helped with all of the paperwork to get me to camp. Whenever I called the office they were always incredibly friendly and helpful.

I signed up to be a summer camp counsellor for the Summer of 2018. Before attending camp my experience with Camp Leaders was very positive. They replied promptly to any concerns and the staff were kind and helpful.



Upon arrival at the camp and following the orientation days, I was made to work from 7:30am to 11pm, with a 1 hour break or sometimes with no break at all. We got 2 days off every 3 weeks. Management were rude and dismissive of concerns. There were health and safety problems that were reported and not resolved.

There is nothing in US law to prevent you from being exploited, underpaid, and bullied by directors of camps. You may be lucky and get placed with a nice camp that do not mistreat you but there's no way to guarantee this. Other similar organisations such as CCUSA and Camp America also sent people to this camp so it is a problem with the system and not solely with Camp Leaders.
Camp Leaders confirmed that they get paid $1900 per person they send to camp, much more than you make in wages.

Upon returning to the UK I submitted a complaint to Camp Leaders about the camp and they stated that they would look into problems at the camp but I am not confident that they will stop working with them.

I write this report anonymously because I do not want my name tied to my complaints as I fear repercussions. I did not complain about the camp to Camp Leaders whilst was there because I feared that they would contact management who would discipline me. Feel free to sign up and go to a camp but you may face the same experience that I did. I notice most of the reviews for this company are positive and they must be the majority who were placed at a good camp and had no problems.

I've just got back from second incredible summer working in America and couldn't speak more highly of Camp Leaders. The customer service I received was excellent and they made the daunting process of obtaining a visa and organising transport so easy, and great value for money to top it off.

Camp Leaders are an incredible company that have helped me find an amazing job at a Summer Camp in the USA, that I know I'll keep returning to for years to come. From start to finish, year on year Camp Leaders staff have been friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. They help you through the visa application seamlessly - even providing step by step guidance! (life savers!) They even make sure you're having a good time once you're out in the USA working at Camp. I would absolutely recommend going to the States with Camp Leaders to everyone.

Genuinely awful agency. At first they seemed very friendly but as soon as I had an issue they were patronising, rude and dismissive of my worries in my opinion. Happy to be using Wildpacks instead!

An absolutely fantastic company to travel with! I was really nervous as it was my first time doing anything like working in a summer camp so I really wanted to have everything done properly.

Camp is great but if you apply through Camp Leaders, make sure to ask ANY questions especially about getting paid. My pay check has unfortunately been halved because of this agency. Therefore, I cannot afford to travel after camp! This policy was not explained to me. I would recommend applying through a camp itself rather than applying through agencies...Regrettably, I will never be applying through Camp Leaders again.

With Camp Leaders' help I was able to spend 2 unforgettable summers at camp Robin Hood. These guys were always available, helpful and provided excellent customer service!

Terrible experience with a terrible agency. Don't check out the camps they are sending people to and aren't interested in helping when something goes wrong. Once they have your money, you are on your own! High application fees and absolutely shocking wages. I would recommend AmeriCamp as an alternative agency, as I went with them the second time and had a totally different experience! They were with me every step of the way, application fees are low and I got paid triple the amount.

My experience with Camp Leaders has kept me returning to summer camp for the past three years. If it hadn't been for their constant support and advice throughout my first year applying I don't think I would have went through with it! Not only are the staff are excellent at what they do but they are also a much cheaper option to go over to the USA for those who are worrying about costs. I recommend this company to all of my friends and anyone else who is interested in working at a summer camp!

This is the kind of company you'd want to rely on when going on a big adventure like this. They were always by my side whenever I needed help from start to finish. Very pleased with their service. I'm going through them again and I'd definitely recommend!

Ive been going to camp with camp leaders for 3 years now and i can say that the camp leaders programme has changed my life. all the staff at camp leaders put the participants first and want what is best for them. they are there for you every step of the way! i wouldn't go with any other programme.

Amazing company, couldn't recommend them enough. Every staff member goes out of their way to help and they make the whole process really easy. I've just came home from the best summer of my life and I can't wait to do it all over again!!

The team were fantastic at handling my application for the three years I went to camp. They were even able to guide me through the complicated visa process for camp when I was travelling in South Africa. Couldn't rate Camp Leaders enough.

I have used CampLeaders twice now to get me to summer camp, they are absolutely outstanding and quite simply the best agency out there. After previously contacting Camp America and AmeriCamp, I was really overwhelmed by the amount of pressure to pay all of the fees in a short space of time, but Camp Leaders actually helped me with a payment plan, and put me at complete ease- it was very stress-less.

Customer service is absolutely outstanding too, it is very clear this company genuinely cares about your safety and wellbeing, even one of the office staff said, pretty much everyone who you speak to when you phone them has already been to camp and can give such detailed advice. It was interesting to get to camp also, and have my colleagues say how jealous they were that they used alternative agencies and didn't use CampLeaders! CL listened to my current skill set and experience, and provided me with all of the potential employment opportunities that would be best suited to me, so I had tailored advice with every conversation.

I can't wait for my second summer as area director!

Camp Leaders supported me to have an amazing 3 life changing summers at camp. They supported me through my whole application, step by step to get me safely across to the states and I can't thank them enough. Well worth giving camp leaders a call and kick starting a summer of a life time!

Good organisation for first timers, really helpful when you speak to people who do work very hard. Are understaffed it seems so Terrible response time on phone and online. Unfortunately a lot of automatic replies and process is slowed down by this
