My experience is from a little less than twenty years ago, so hopefully it has improved since then. However, as a cousilor and waterfront employee, who has experienced many different camps from many perspectives, I can say that at least back then, this was the worst camp I've ever been associated with. They were elitists who treat their staff like they don't matter. After suffering from an accute PTSD episode, I had to excuse myself and lay down. The camp owner's response was to blame and attack me in front of the girls staying in my cabin, then I was fired and promptly rehired all in one breath. I would never send my kids here. A child would be much better served going to a camp that accepts all people as they are and treats them all with equal respect and understanding.

I have been here only for one year, BUT I LOVE THIS PLACE. On the first day I felt a bit homesick, but that soon changed. The activities there are phenomenal. I learned how to water-ski and wakeboard! My cabin was super fun. I had some of the greatest councilors ever there. My councilor, Ryan, inspired me to play guitar. I am excited to return later this year.

Our kids count down the days until they return to Laurel South each year! It is definitely their second home - with friends who feel like family. The camp is beautiful - situated around the lake. The activities allow them to try new things and repeat favorites. It gives them a great sense of fulfillment to choose their own activities and try new things they may not have time to fit in during the school year. Its a beautiful day in the state of Maine!

Camp Laurel South has completely changed my life. I attended the camp for the first time in 2008 when I was 8 years old and from then on it has made a positive impact on my life. From the physical camp grounds to the amazing staff and directors, Camp Laurel South will always be my second home. I was also fortunate enough to return this past summer as a staff member and the experience was life changing. Laurel South is more than just a camp, it's a way of life.

The experiences they are having with the friends they ve made are priceless. We are counting down the days...

I was a mom who didn t want my daughter to go to camp and now I m laurel south s biggest fan!

It is such a magical place. I thought the video was too good to be true but it s all real!
Roger and Dagny are her parents away from home and their energy and optimism set the tone for every counselor, specialist and camper. They are the soul of the camp and it matters.

My daughter loves all sports and the sports program was amazing but she also came home having tried everything else. She had never waterskiied and we watched her ski by herself on a lake in California when she got home!

The facilities and grounds are so beautiful and every year they keep improving them. And she is obsessed with the food.

She made friends from all over the country and is so close to them. She talks about camp nonstop and has planned out her next 7 summers there. We feel so safe and so happy, knowing that she is having the time of her life with people who we respect and trust.

Our children constantly speak about their Laurel South experiences and are counting the days until the session begins. The camp is physically breathtaking and offers so many diverse activities. What is unique about Laurel South is the people - starting with the owners and directors setting the gold standard for appropriate hiring that fits the culture of genuine care for each camper. While we miss them for the 4 weeks, we know that they are happy, safe, and growing their character.
