The staff at Camp Hope took great care of us while we were volunteering with the St. Bernard Project. We were more than happy to lend a hand with daily chores after eating one of Walt's amazing meals. The communal environment gave our trip an even greater sense of camaraderie and purpose.
Before arriving I was totally skeptical about staying in a place that was capable of housing so many people. My thoughts were how nice could it be if it could potentially hold 300+ people. I was pleasantly surprised once arriving. The people at Camp Hope were some of the nicest people I've ever met and the food was amazing! Camp Hope was well kept and I was comfortable with the sleeping and showering arrangements. I've stayed in places where they have bunks and multiple showers before and did NOT like it but here I slept well and was not skeeved out by the showers at all!
Camp Hope was fantastic and really exceeded my expectations! Our host, Walt, went above and beyond to help us be comfortable and safe. His cooking was fantastic, as in better-than-the-restaurants-we-went-to fantastic. We had access to laundry facilities onsite, which was very helpful because my group was doing dusty/dirty construction work while we were in NOLA. I highly recommend Camp Hope for anyone traveling in a group to do service work in NOLA... And definitely stay to make pizza from scratch Friday night!
My group of 12's experience at camp hope was amazing! In the past 4 months they have made dramatic improvements. The man running it now, named Walt, is super friendly and helpful. And his food is absolutely delicious!! You will certainly not go hungry.

Walt is honestly the best cook and best host we could have asked for! We were a small group staying at the time, and he made sure everything was perfect. He has such a kind heart and made us all feel welcome! His cooking is INCREDIBLE! Everything from cornish hens to make your own pizza, Walt does it all! We love Walt and Camp Hope!
Thank you, Walt, for keeping our stomachs and hearts full at Camp Hope! Our group had a great experience staying here and our University will continue to come back each year. We love serving this community and wouldn't stay anywhere else!
What an amazing and memorable experience here at Camp Hope. Walt and his wife serve amazing hospitality while making us feel welcomed. The food is delicoisly homemade and the atmosphere is very comfortable and warm. My University will continue coming here for years to come!

Everything about Camp Hope was excellent. The food, cleanliness, and arrangements were great! The staff from the beginning answered every questions we had. Staying there allowed us to get to know a little bit more about New Orleans and the devastation of the locals. It was comfortable, and fun place to be. I have been to New Orleans before, and stayed at similar spots, but Camp Hope by far made the trip and week SO much better. AMAZING!!!!!
