My nieces and nephew go to this camp, and absolutely love it. The property is beyond beautiful. The kids love exploring in the creek, and catching minnows. They became stronger swimmers, and increased their bravery by climbing the rock wall. They made many new friends and also looked forward to each Friday as they do extra fun activities on that day. They also like the kid friendly food menu and have learned to enjoy the fresh fruits and vegetables that they provide with the meals. This is one place that allows kids to be kids, and that might just be the best part.

This camp is so expensive with no activities. This camp is fun for kids but has a dark side... the camp owner puts money before kids safety and only cares about himself and his money. Councilors are great with the kids but the owners scared and puts the kids in danger.
Our kids love Camp Deer Creek. We love the pick up and drop off service. The staff is friendly and helpful. Camp Deer Creek is a much preferred alternative to a summer spent with kiddos in front of a device screen.
This is a camp that clearly values their profit over the safety of their campers. Please see attached picture of the email we received this week re: COVID positive camper. We are appalled that Camp Deer Creek knew of a camper's sibling testing posting for COVID on Wednesday and not notifying camp families until Friday afternoon of the potential (and then confirmed) COVID positive camper. The family of the infected camper was diligent in letting the camp know of a COVID positive sibling. However, the camp was negligent and kept that information from camp families until Friday afternoon. As a result of these actions Deer Creek potentially put 100s of camp families at greater risk. Had we known there was a potential (and then confirmed) positive camper, ON OUR DAUGHTERS BUS, we could ve made a multitude of difference decisions: driven her to camp, had her wear a mask, or ultimately kept her at home. But, we were kept in the dark so could not make an informed decision for our child and our family. This is a place that obviously does not prioritize safety, so we will not be sending our child back to this camp .... even in non-pandemic times. I spoke with the Weitzel family this morning and asked for a refund for our upcoming week of camp in August due to this event. They let me know that "we are past the period of refunds" so they would not issue a refund, just a credit for next year. I passed on the offer. No thanks - we won't be back. Clearly they don't value safety OR kindness in these pandemic times.
This is the second generation of my family attending this camp. It's extremely well run, so much so when my father was the regional MH/MR Director he placed kids with them. The family that runs the camp are the best kind of people.
Even though it's been over 50 years, I still have wonderful memories of Camp Deer Creek. The Crickets, Braves, Rangers, Chieftains and Frontiersman were the age groupings. Some of my favorite people were Madeline (I cannot remember her last name) Walt Donnellan (sp), and Frank Koffler...his daughter, Krissy and I had some fun times together. If I can still fondly remember the wonderful times, you can be sure it is a great place for kids during the summer!
My stepdaughter had a wonderful week here for the second year in a row. I like the laid back camp approach. It gives kids a good balance of supervision and freedom.
A great camp just outside the city, but you'd never know it, considering how quiet it is there. The camp runs a bus to pick up and drop off kids in your home neighborhood too, easier for working parents.
2020 was my son's first year there, he is 9 years old. We were worried he wouldn't like it, but not only did he love it, he requested to go additional weeks and asked to attend residential week, which is their weeklong sleepover camp to wrap up their summer.
