Family & Children Services of Silicon Valley merged in January with Caminar and brought their excellent track record of programs and impact with them! Recently recommended their LGBTQ Youth Space drop-in center to a friend for her daughter with great result.

Caminar is a company that has offices in multiple places. I had the unfortunate experience of crossing paths with their offices in Las Vegas. Myy physical health necessitated my need for their help. I was awaiting Social Security's approval and was homeless. They put me in a group home setting, with other people who had my same ailment, in a converted convalescent building.
It was while I was here, for maybe 2-3 months that I came to find out that they were misappropriating federal grants and committing fraud. I tried to point out to them, that as they were robbing Peter to pay Paul, they were leaving Peter broke. Money expressly directed for specific purposes could NOT be misused. They didn't like the fact that I had pointed this out, and I was given 5 days to get out. I was homeless all over again.
I landed in a position where I had to leave all my possession, and ended up taking care of a man, whom became a dear friend as he died of ALS. This experience left me so distraught that I attempted suicide 5 times. The last cost me a lot.
The Las Vegas office put me in harms way and nearly cost me my life. All because I had the audacity to point out that what they were doing could get them in serious trouble.

Caminar has done an outstanding job in its commitment to ending stigma, educating community members, and providing treatment to our neighbors who suffer from mental health disabilities for more than 50 years. Truly remarkable!

I have visited many of the client centers that Caminar manages around San Mateo County. I have witnesses the respect, quality, and devotion of the staff and the dignity of the services that is provided in a holistic approach. Caminar's client centered approach allows Caminar to provide individualized care to clients in high quality facilities.

would give it -1 star. for the mentally ill is very hard to find someone here willing to listen and care for patients with trauma PTSD and depression. I have been going a few years and cant say anything good about it. I'm severely disabled physically the current staff cant support me enough and my power chair cant fit into the office. also, my sister went here many years ago and because of treatment a doctor did she is now permanently in a mental institution. please take loved ones somewhere where doctors and staff care more about you.
