Perfect little contemporary art space with a bookshop; a tidy spacious indoor/outdoor cafe, courses and classes, and on Sundays, a free make-and-do sessions for little kids. Exhibitions change every 6weeks. Occasionally the art is so conceptual that it's inaccessible and incomprehensible. But not always. The garden has a great green space to run and round and play in.

I must confess I am not the biggest art lover in the world but my partner who I took with me is. We got through the whole gallery within about 15 minutes with my partner left feeling unimpressed and uninspired by what was on offer. Maybe we came at during the wrong day where the displays on offer happened to not be that captivating

Camden Arts Centre was created in 1965 providing the local community with classes in painting, life drawing, pottery, printing and basic design. The first exhibition was held a year after the Centre was established. Exhibitions feature emerging artists, international artists showing for the first time in London, historic figures who inspire contemporary practice and artist-selected group shows. Camden Arts Centre also strives to support artists in making new artworks.

We were first introduced to the Camden Arts Centre through their wonderful outreach to my son's nursery. They sent two fantastic artists to work with the children- an amazing mix! A field trip to the Centre followed, with the children creating a collective collage in one of the galleries and hand sculpting in clay. Of course they loved it!
The Centre is welcoming to all; a thoughtfulness is evident to make art accessible to Everyone, with great facilities for those with disabilities.
Lovely cafe. Magical, large woodland garden! You can't help but leave with an infectious feeling of joie de vivre, surrounded by so much beauty!

About Camden Arts Centre

Camden Arts Centre is a contemporary art gallery located in Hampstead, London. The centre offers free admission to visitors and features a range of exhibitions, residencies, courses and events throughout the year. The centre also has a café, garden and shop on site.

The gallery was established in 1965 as an educational charity with the aim of promoting contemporary art to the public. Since then, it has become one of London's leading venues for contemporary art exhibitions and events.

One of the key features of Camden Arts Centre is its programme of temporary exhibitions. These showcase work by both emerging and established artists from around the world. The exhibitions cover a wide range of media including painting, sculpture, photography, video and installation.

In addition to its exhibition programme, Camden Arts Centre also offers artist residencies. These provide artists with studio space on site where they can develop their work over a period of several months. During their residency, artists have access to all the facilities at the centre including workshops and technical support.

The centre also runs a range of courses for adults and children throughout the year. These include workshops in drawing, painting and printmaking as well as more specialised courses such as ceramics or digital media.

Visitors to Camden Arts Centre can also enjoy its café which serves fresh food made from locally sourced ingredients. The café has indoor seating as well as an outdoor terrace overlooking the garden which provides a peaceful oasis away from busy city life.

The garden itself is another highlight of Camden Arts Centre. Designed by award-winning landscape architect Dan Pearson it provides visitors with an opportunity to relax among plants native to Britain's woodlands while enjoying sculptures dotted throughout.

Finally, no visit would be complete without stopping by at Camden Art Centre's shop which stocks unique gifts inspired by current exhibitions or created by local designers.

Overall Camden Art Centre is an excellent destination for anyone interested in contemporary art or looking for somewhere peaceful yet inspiring place away from hustle-bustle city life that offers something different than other galleries around London area - all while supporting local artists through its programmes!
