Amazing place to visit.Away from the hustle and bustle of the city in a Serene environment where nature has taken its cause. The detailed explanation from the guides leaves you well informed on its history and the detailed tour is enough for a great understanding of the site. Moreover the place is affordable to all. Spare a date. Just a few minutes drive away is the white sandy Watamu beach and Marine park.

It's a nice with rich history and lots of information. The ruins give a great insight into the knowledge and technology that was employed in construction of the palace. The design shows a well developed and planned structure with security in mind.
The snake park and the vipepeo are rich sources of information and motivation as well as efforts of the locals in protecting the environment.
It's a place to visit again and again.

Gede Ruins are one of the best parts of Watamu. They are deeply interesting and exciting. It is not simply interesting because it is part of Kenyan history but would be interesting no matter where it was. The wells are amazing and the architecture truly illuminating. Gede is a wonderful was to learn Swahili Culture.

Very very beatiul.Helpful guides that explain the history of the ruins elaborately as long as you are in no hurry.
The monkey's make it more interesting when you feed them as they literally jump on your shoulders. They are friendly and all they want is the banana or guava fruit which are bought at the entrance from the locals

Nice to know the history and discuss the theories. Feeding the monkeys while they climb on your back was scary but they were very friendly. Would advise to go when fresh as there is quite a lot of walking. Ramadhan was such a great guide: knew his stuff.

Impressive ruins of 17th century abandoned city. Forest is in the process of reclaiming the land back to the origins. Unique style of tomb pillar in front of the mosque convey they are in the process of conversion to Islam. Small museum gives an idea of the old city and entry ticket for tourist is reasonable at 500 shillings . You can reach gede village from malindi by matatu for 50 shillings.

If you like monkeys, you will like it. With bananas, you will have them on your shoulder or head. It is good to hire the guide there to understand the place better because without knowing its history wouldn'be that interesting. It is not so big.
