Legendary. Wonderful band, wait staff, and atmosphere.
Legendary. Wonderful band, wait staff, and atmosphere.
Small the long-established live house.
It is a pleasant space.
Excellent entertainment and true village Atmosphere. Friendly staff.
New York local historian. Dylan debuts at Cafe Wha, and the greatest musicians have played on stage. Only for this reason is it worth taking a ride. Here you can breathe history!
Love the wha
Great music diverse crowd always a blast
Beware of tips, a waitress kept the change and suggested that it was for tip though the% was much higher than usual in NY
Horrible! Absolutely horrible door staff. There were people waiting in line for an hour or more and the door staff continued to let in friends and people they knew. When asked what time people would be let in the staff told people 11, but that time came and went. People continued to freeze outside while the door staff ignored them. This establishment is not a place for people who want to enjoy a bar and listen to music. It s for friends of staff only.
A pleasant surprise! Live band bar that makes a very interactive show with the audience and often causes the audience to get up dancing in the tight space between tables. It is important to make a reservation and try to buy a drink to stay in a good place, as you may have your back to the show.
Lovely place ! Definitely going back for live music! Especially if it s latin performance!
The house band is amazing. Even though it's close quarters, the music will have you out your seat, dancing and singing along!
Go elsewhere for music in NYC. Seated at a bench between two tables with no table of our own. Billed for the cover charge, the one drink per person minimum and a 22% gratuity. Complained to the manager as we left after 20 minutes with no result. In Greenwich village go instead to Small's or Jules Bistro or even the Blue Note . Better yet go up to Harlem at Mintons or Paris Blues or Showmans. Rotten experience.
Always a great time at Cafe Wha?
This was my 5th time here, and first time to stay for the second show. The entire night was amazing. This band has always rocked, and after 11 years of visiting, I can say it still rocks. If you re in NY and have a free night on the weekend, go to Cafe Wha? and enjoy the House band. Lots of fun.
The food here is pretty good for bar food. The chicken tenders and the fries are excellent. Chips and salsa, not as much (chips are just ok and the salsa is a form of pico that has little flavor and is hard to pick up with the chips). Wings are pretty good, nothing amazing.
Wanted to come here for years. It was not good at all. So bummed. Staff could care less. All about $$
Great as usual even with all the adjustments for covid & precautions for safety. Live music, great food but with ok drinks. The atmosphere was priceless however and THAT makes up for any complaint i have in this review.
Reservations don't matter to them. They'll make you wait outside in long lines no matter what the weather is like, and there's no guarantee they will even let you in. I waited outside for 45 minutes in the pouring rain, and it was so cold; and they still didn't let me in, and I had a party of 6 inside.
Even for under 21s with parents. Top nice. Meal and cocktail top.
Cool service. Just do not forget the identity card even for parents.
Exceptional atmosphere. Stage trodden by Springsteen and Dylan. Live level music. I happened one night that did various rock cover Bruno Mars, Prince really good. Kind staff. Normal prices, you pay a fee for the music but it's worth it. To spend an evening if you like music.
Absolutely amazing! Great talent. They pumped the crowd and their voices were amazing!
Excellent we location with great history. $15 cover charge seems excessive.
Excellent spot for live music. Can get a bit crowded at times and you will likely have to share a table with another patron if you are in a smaller group of 3 or less people.
On Sunday they had the house band . They played different genres it was very nice and fun
House band was absolutely amazing. Lead singer s pipes were unreal. Fun environment, great playlist, engaging and interactive band. Absolutely recommend attending. Good, prompt service. Comedian at the beginning was subpar but band more than made up for it.
What a magical place, sensational environment, incredible music, it seems that you were transported to another place! Service is not the best, however the music makes up for everything! Very worth checking out
The band is talented. Its live music modern jazz. I had an incredible time with my bf. Eat before you come though. Its bar food. Come for the entertainment in music
One of my favorite places to go on my birthday. Iconic establishment. Phenomenal house band. Order the truffle fries. You'll thank me later
Great atmosphere and spectacular live music. A must in NYC.
Typical NYC lounge with live music. Easy to get to by subway. Can order appetizers.
Awesome - music was great - good show and the drinks hit the spot
We were looking for something to do on a rainy Monday night in the village and stopped by this place. They had an authentic Brazilian band and some great $5 caipirinha specials. It was a great atmosphere and it felt like a Saturday night! Definitely must see their Brazilian band if you re looking for some fun on a Monday
Incredible place with an amazing band, a very delicious food and some waitresses who try to be nice but they do not go well. For me the most fun place in town
Cafe Wha was EXPLOSIVE! ALWAYS so diversified with a cultural mix of great talent. Music, food, drinks & the ambiance is ALWAYS so amazing at The Wha...Dancing in the isles is ALWAYS fun to do & fun to watch.
If you've never been, I highly recommend it.
Had a brilliant time here. Make sure you reserve a spot or arrive early to get a table!
House band was fantastic and got everyone on their feet.
Twice I was there, and if I come back I will not stop going, an essential person who travels to Manhattan.
I absolutely loved it. I went to cafe Wha? at a Sunday night, live music, great voices and atmosphere was so cool. I really enjoyed it and definitely will go back there.
A must in New York to spend a great evening with friends.
Saw their excellent house band kill a long series of great songs from the well known to the obscure-ish, in sets of danceable tunes across a variety of genres.
Nice place good music. Good service. Can be loud and crowded.
Had a blast, The live music tore the place up. Look forward to going back!
It is the worst management and bouncers in the city. They were mean and disrespectful whole night. We called the manager and a crew member was arguing with us saying we don't have to come back again. Poor management and not a good choice
The house band is great. Very talented individuals. Kim is out of this world. The food is not suitable for theb21st century. Menu needs updating !
Meh... Not great food and expensive... But would be awesome to see a live band
Excellent place with excellent attention. A great place to know the nightlife of Manhattan.
Amazing performances. The house band is made up of talents. Fun and fun evening. I will undoubtedly return there
A friend went there yesterday and had a very bad experience. The Cafe kicked their group mid diner, still required them to pay cover + $20. Police was involved, supported my friend, but the overall experience was such that he said he'll never visit there again.
Tourist go to ONLY. Ingenious money maker extremely over priced $325 for a bottle of Titos Vodka for the table and $10 for the mixers!! not bad presentation overall
My first time in New York and my first experience.
O.U.T.S.T.A.N.D.I.N.G!!!
The staff, especially Fernanda, was amazing! Smiles for days and always on top of our food and drink refills and needs.
The band...simply WOW! Unbelievably entertaining and engaging!
Hands-down a experience!
Great place for Baby Boomers to listen to live music from the 1960's thru 1980's. Sound system excellent and you can see from anywhere. Prices reasonable for Manhattan.
Over 20 years I visit that place recent management disgraceful very disrespectful only music the same
Good music good atmosphere, very disorganized and disappointing service
Just love the houseband! Gets you dancing every time
Just learned about this place that has amazing music. Tha band is so good and the singer has a voice of pavaroti lol
Cafe wha is where you get great entertainment. Tuesday night funk night is A- mazing!!! Space is a bit tight but it's the village and NYC . But love the funk band.
Historical place where for example Bob Dylan or Jimi Hendrix played. But I think at those times the club was quite different. They are now just profiting of the name and putting some cover bands. The night is divided into two parts, so if you want to stay in both parts you need to pay the entrance twice.
