Nice hotel, prime location, in walking distance to just about everything.
Rude staff and deceitful operation.
My nightmare began as the hotel did a fine job of confusing my reservation for a king bed with a room for two double beds. I called from the first room to request a switch, which they said would be fine. When I returned to the front desk, I identified myself and reminded them I had just called. "AND?" says the manager, JJ. (And, I am a paying customer who deserves a little bit of respect.) I brushed that off and asked again for my initial reservation. So, they put me in room 304, sandwiched between the janitor's closet and the fire escape. Needless to say it was a little noisy, and there was not much chance of sleeping past 8 a.m. when the maids showed up for work.
Also, I self-parked in the deck, thinking that it would save me money from the valet. I asked about charges as I checked in and was told just to park level 3 or higher, and stop by the desk on my way out to get my parking validated. I assumed that since I never paid at the parking kiosk after my ticket was validated, parking was free. The day after I left, I received two $18 charges for each time I entered the deck. They just put it on the card I had given them for "incidentals" and told me $18 was a "discounted" rate. When I called to complain, the only response they had was a repeated, "I'm sorry for the confusion." I'm just glad I only left the deck once during my stay.
Finally, be wary of the $100 hold they put on your card during your stay, again for incidentals. I like to carry cash when I travel, and this practice from a Holiday Inn caught me (and my bank account) off guard.
