Cafe Benelux Review

We went to enjoy the rooftop on a late afternoon, and the service was extremely slow. Cocktails were average, I could have made it at home, we order a kids meal, came with old fruit and dried out veggies
It took forever to being appetizer to table, thank goodness we didn't order a meal. I wasn't impressed at all and wont go back.

Best place for Belgian beers in the country. Great bloodys too. Food is exquisite

The food is always good at Cafe Benelux. The veggie burger there is outstanding. Crave-worthy. French fries always crisp and the beer always cold. Is it earth-shattering, no. But do I keep going back over and over and over. Yes.

Great vibes, great roof, great food, great service.

I had a goat cheese, feta, and spinach omelette with potatoes and it was excellent. The house-made curry ketchup is ridiculously good. Also had the Flanders Biker cocktail with dark rum, bitters, lemon, and blonde Belgian ale, which was also fantastic. Sidewalk patio and upstairs patio, great ambiance, and Belgium everything. Service could not have been better. Loved it!

Great selection of drinks and food, food tasted great.

The place looks very promising and the food sounds amazing on the menu. However, once the food arrives you will be extremely disappointed. I can't speak for all the food on the menu but I ordered the merckx burger and it turned out to be a store bought burger patty that you would get at a Denny's only somehow they managed to make it even more bland. The french fries were cheap Mcdonald's type fries. My friend got the salmon and the vegetables tasted like microwaved frozen veggies. Overall, the meal was awful quality for the price and I wouldn't recommend visiting unless it is to try a unique beer.

Sitting upstairs in the outdoor seating is a must when the weather is good.

Awesome cafe/restaurant. Great food, huge alcohol selection and outdoor seating. Very cool place, def worth checking out. We came for breakfast and it was amazing. Service kinda sucked, got forgotten , no refills offered and had a long wait for the bill, it really wasn't packed. Server was still friendly but not the greatest, maybe new or having an off day.

We arrived at the perfect time. There was no crowd and we were seated immediately. The wait staff was friendly enough. The menu provided amble choices, it seemed most customers were ordering the burgers (they looked delicious). I ordered the Shrimp Liquine, it was spot on. My wife had the Antigoon, but she was not fond it. All be it we had a good time.

Very disappointing. Food was just okay. We sat on the rooftop but there was a street musician playing a saxophone with an amplifier across the street. We couldn't hear the others at our table. Asked the manager to try to do something about it. Nothing. Couldn't wait to get out of there, won't ever go back. It really seemed like a nice place for casual dining and conversation. Had to leave so we could hear each other.

We had such a wonderful night at Fat Canary. My ideal image of a waiter, who was helpful and attentive when needed without rushing us along. He offered some great wine selections but not until he listened to our preferences. The table next to us was spending 2X person yet the waiter made us feel like valued customers, which is not the same experience as some other high-end restaurants in Williamsburg.

Hard to decide what to get at this place all the food is amazing. Had the breakfast burrito which owns all other breakfast burritos probably one of the best I've had. Can be a bit spicy for some but man it is good. The beignets are also great with the chocolate sauce yummy can't wait to go back. Try this place if you've never been it is worth it.

Fast and friendly service and excellent food. Drink selection is vast and unique!

Try the Impossible burger. Plant based but tastes better than meat.

I arrive at this excellent restaurant from time to time since I enjoy the good mood that is outline this place. The team is extremely welcoming and well trained. The service is deeply quick. Not to mention, the food they serve is perfect. I frequent often and I was never disappointed. The expense is fair. I suggest this restaurant to to all.

We got off the plane and drove straight to Cafe Benelux for breakfast. Delicious and in a lovely location. A nice way to start our trip!

One of my favorite spots in the summer, their patio is very relaxing, I usually order their steamed muscles, great taste, they never disappoint you. The staff is great and welcoming. If your looking for a patio to hangout on in the summer, this would be the spot

The califlower appetizer with chutney is phenomenal. You can't go wrong with any item on this menu. Chef John knows what he's doing and he does it well.

We ve stopped for both breakfast and brunch and both times the food and service were fantastic. Love the style of the place and the option to eat on the rooftop. The food is great as well as the cocktails. We loved the breakfast corn dogs! Highly recommend this place if you re in the public market area.

Atmosphere is wonderful, although a little loud. Server was very prompt and extremely nice! Had the turkey club and it was the freshest bread I've had in years. Excellent place

Cafe Benelux was very busy Labor Day weekend but the line went quick and our group of four was seated right away. The food was good and the service was too! I would go back another time.

Had dinner there last night with a friend. Wow has this place deteriorated. What has happened to this place? Yikes! Bad service (clearly understaffed), incredibly small portions and expensive for what you get. My turkey sandwich (about $11) was basically the size of your average hors d'oeuvre with some greens on side (no dressing and a couple of nuts on the bottom). My soup was about the size of a tea cup ($3.50) and luke warm.

This place has clearly gone corporate. Charge as much as possible, give the customer as little as possible and hire as few staff as possible.

Best burger I have had in Milwaukee. Forget the name but has a duck fat fried egg on it that is to die for.

Love the outdoor seating and atmosphere. It is such a peaceful repreave under the freeway. My husband and I also had the best drinks and best food that we've experienced in a long time. The server was so helpful and friendly. A Milwaukee gemstone!

Today, thanks to Nathalie, we discovered this quaint restaurant with a Belgian flair in Milwaukee.

Stopped in for a bite and drinks after a comedy show. The waitress was great and offered great insight into beer recommendations. The Lux Tots were a very tasty app. My date and I were both sad when we reached the bottom of the order. We also wanted to order the cheese bread, but sadly they were out of tonight. Instead we tried some mussels, which was a first for me. They were very good. The frites that accompanied the order tasted old, but that was the only negative part of our order. Definitely recommend if you like beer - the beer menu is huge, over 40 pages!

Very good cheese steak sandwich and the salted caramel cheese cake was amazing!!!!

Roof top restaurant right in the heart of Third Ward. Room my parents here from out of town and they loved every part of Cafe Benelux! From the amazing blood Mary s to the atmosphere and their lunch cuisine. Always a great restaurant and have never had a negative experience before.

I never, ever, ever, ever, EVER thought I'd say what I'm about to say...... but my favorite dish was actually a SALAD?!?! Benelux salad.... do yourself a favor and either get the meal, or tease yourself with it as a side dish like I did. It was fantastic! The alcohol menu was also quite plentiful, with tons of great choices. I can't wait to come back

Love the place, awesome food, an amazing beer selection and super friendly staff. Take all that and set it in a great location and you have an amazing meal experience at any time of the day!

Great wait staff and reasonable pricing for good food

So first off the seating is very uncomfortable. Cheap aluminium chairs that dog into my side's.
The cheese steak I got had spinach on it. Only instead of nice spinach leaves it was canned. Three the whole flavor off.

I have driven hours out of my way while traveling in order to eat at Cafe Benelux. It is and always will be my favorite breakfast spot I have been to! Went there for Valentine's Day last year and got a free drink and a rose and it was so nice, plus the food is wonderful and reasonable prices!

Service staff was friendly and greeted me upon arrival and kept up to date on the current seating available. The menu is a bit pricey for an average meal but I was satisfied with the overall experience. The house bloody Mary mix is well crafted with a hint of spice but nothing that will burn or make the drink unpleasant, however they did seem a bit small for the price. With that the rest of the food was presented very well, with huge compliments on both flavor and texture. The seafood platter was delicious but slightly failed on the shrimp portion as the smoke flavored was a bit over powering. Pull apart bread was amazing, drizzled with Balsamic which added sweet to savory. With the Gnocchi soup, the stock was seasoned, complimenting the tender Gnocchi. Defiantly worth another visit

Food was served cold and service was subpar... sad because this place used to be one of my favorite places to go.

Excellent six spice rub salmon. The acorn squash creme brulee was unique and fantastic. Hip Euro atmosphere. Love the retro 80's house music too!

I ordered a cheeseburger and it was OK but kindof flavorless. Sweet potato fries were really good.

2nd visit and so glad I came back. I eat keto and love their walnut pesto zucchini dish with shrimps. So good! They also have a few keto drink options like Miller Lite and Michelob Ultra. On Saturday nights it s busy but we got a table quickly. Service was nice and efficient and the place has a trendy vibe

Love it. Amazing beer selection. Spend time to explore the European imports. There are many gems. The food is also very good.

They have a buzzing atmosphere and in warmer weather a nice sidewalk option to drink dine and people watch.

As a bonus...try their brunch. It is amazing!

I was there on December 31, 2018 with one of my Best Friends & his Family. They took me there for Lunch after a Baptism. It was my first Time there. I walked in there wearing my Clergy Collar & my Motorcycle Jacket. I got some interesting looks from certain people there. I remember that as the hostess was taking use to our table, two Younger guys there were walking out & looked at me & said "I guess that they will let anybody in here now". It made me laugh & smile though. The wait Time was not bad. The food was pretty good. I had a Omelet. The waitress was very Friendly. I would definitely go back there. I would like to try one of their Cheeseburgers

Great drinks & fantastic brunch! If getting the frites, do yourself a favor & get all sauces! Life is too short to limit yourself to only two sauces Also, the ratatouille omelet is incredible!!

Our experience was fantastic thanks to our fabulous waitress Jaime. Thank you for the on point service while delivering an excellent meal!! We will return when back in town.

Ordered the cuban sandwich, which was supposed to have pork shoulder on it, according to the menu. It only had ham on it. I shouldn't pay about 12 bucks for just grilled cheese and ham. I thought initially this was just an honest mistake, but was informed by the wait staff that the pecan smoked pork shoulder is sliced. Just tell me you're out out of pork shoulder because thats not a thing. This happened a couple months ago, but I was reminded of the experience this past weekend at a Cafe Hollander, when my Shakshuka arrived waterlogged and undercooked.

The service and atmosphere were awesome, my meal was great but I ordered a side of macaroni and another side of fries which were not good, stripping one star from my rating. I would certainly go back.
