Good beer and food. Firecrackerer Burger was off the chain! Kid-friendly thing was hampered by minimal space. Seating sucked. When it's busy, you have to camp out inside to find stools to take outside. Definitely recommend you make a reservation. If you have/take the kids, have lots on hand to keep them occupied or hire the babysitter. (Preferably the latter.)

The food is expensive for the amount you get (small plates), but you're paying for the experience :). It's located right off the W&OD trail and cyclists are welcome! Great value on their beers and ciders. Definitely recommend!!!

Beautiful spot... Indoor and outdoor spaces are really nice. Menu is a little small with some great wins like the pork belly and charcuterie. Burger is good except for the giant buns. Sauces could use refinement. Beer is good, solid, though not amazing and they were out of 2 of the 10 on tap we wanted most. Pricing on quarter pint vs full is weird. Parking is terrible. Handicap accessible. A very few gluten free options but could do a lot better there with gluten free buns for example.

One of the nicer interiors of the Northern Virginia breweries and seating is done by a hostess like a restaurant opposed to seating yourself like most places.
My friend and I each ordered a flight and I especially enjoyed The Fog (NEIPA). The food looked good although I didn't order any but I would definitely come back for the beer and to try the cuisine.

Cool staff, yummy beers, and fun setting. Would love to see a little expansion to the beer list. Family friendly and fun outdoor setting in the warmer months. A nice little get away from the crazed shoppers and drivers in Mosaic a skip away. :)

Good food and beer. The place was quite popular on summer weekends with sufficient outdoor seating to accommodate the thirsty and chatty masses. The perfect place for a bike excursion due to its location on the W&OD Trail.

Excellent beer! The schwartzbier is one of the best I've ever had. Add to that a selection of outstanding stouts, along with a delicous brown ale and a crisp pilsner, and the result is beer heaven! Starting with the wonderfully sharp artisan blue cheese, to the succullent octopus, and the sweet PEI mussels, the food is equally outstanding. The service is very friendly and professional. Parking was convenient. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

I use to live in the area but moved 10 yrs ago. I came back to visit and hit numerous spots that were supposed to be rated high. Ended up in Caboose one evening and ordered the chicken with cornbread and it was delicious. Yes the portion was small but I ordered another. Loved everything about the place.

We went for the first time last night with our kids. I wanted to give it a try because I love restaurants that use food from local farms. Our waitress acted annoyed with us and didnt smile at all and was short with every question. She also forgot my dessert. The food was ok. I got pork belly and it was overcooked and very fatty and couldn't chew some of it because it was hard. The meat part of it was dry. My husband got the staek and the first one was undercooked (med rare really pink) but tasted good. So he ordered another and told our waitress to have the kitchen cook it more. Guess she didnt tell them because it was even less cooked and came out rare. They did refund us it and cooked it more. He loved the onion rings on top and wanted an order but she said they cant do that which was weird. The risotto was ok but it needed some salt. I got a meat and cheese plate that was good but I dont remember the name of it. My son got Mac and cheese that was $8 which was expensive for a small plate of it and it wasn't enough for him so we had to get 2. I like how they mark things gluten free which made it easier for me to decide what I could eat. We will give the food a try again but do not want want M. Giorgi as our waitress.

This place is amazing. Love that it was on the trail. Our waiter, Bob, was absolutely amazing and super insightful with all the beers. He definitely knew his stuff! We managed to finish a full set of flights. #Winning

The beers are decent but nothing that blows me away yet. Most are very hoppy which is good if you are into that but it isn't for everyone. The food is okay but pricy and limited in selection for what you get. The staff was very nice and friendly. The location and atmosphere is different than most places you find in Vienna which is a great change of pace. Overall I get the feeling that they are still settling in on who they are what what they offer.

We are regulars, living a mile up the trail and are typically in at least once a week. We ve been patrons for 3 years and have gotten to know servers and management and watched as things have evolved. Beer: awesome, even the new ones; this is what keeps us coming back. Food: detestable. When you call yourself a tavern, we expect bar food, akin to the Vienna Inn. The Commons at least has sharable food, like wings and pretzels. The Tavern has rabbit gnocchi and kale salad. When half of your population is biking in from a 30-mile trail ride...who wants rabbit gnocchi?? I would so love to recommend you for more than beer and outdoor space but we warn everyone, make sure to eat before you come as you may starve to death avoiding $6 small cups of fries and $7 pieces of cheese. When they closed for a weekend in Feb to refresh, we sincerely hoped they d removed the kitchen to add more seating and get a food truck...it s a great model that s worked for many breweries and allows for a laser focus on the beer! If you have to be a gastro pub, be more like City Works (just opened, Tyson s @ Capital One). They re upscale but at least they have flatbreads and nachos! I would kill for a flatbread at Caboose. Keep up the great brewing...just, food-wise, be less like Blend and more like the Inn...or Sandwich Shop...or City Works...the Biergarten...any place featuring beer...

Boxcar brown ale, cucumber saison, some impressive IPAs, are probably as original as you would expect from a brewery. But their best part is in their tiny kitchen. I don't know how they do it, but I liked every dish I ordered. The IPA mustard has to be an item they should make available for sale. The duck mousse and shrimp and grits are also wonderful, but the best dish has to be the braised pork belly, hands down. Love the ambience and interior style too.

Too expensive to warrant a repeat visit. 1 beer, 1 burger, tax and tip for a waitress (who took our order and disappeared for the rest of the night) = $30.00. I ordered the burger well done and it came pink in the middle. The boxcar beer was good.

Only problem I had was the limited parking. The steak tartare and pan roasted salmon were exceptional. The southern fried chicken was very good, but not worth the price (small portion).

The citra session IPA and golden ale were both excellent.

Ample seating, great patio, quick service and friendly staff.

I have been to Caboose 2 or 3 times and have tried just about every beer they brew and I wouldn't order any of them again. I haven't tried any of their food, but they fail on beer. There are a number of very good breweries in NoVA, Aslin in Reston or Ocelot out in Loudoun.

I feel bad leaving this review, because every time we've been the service has been good and the people seem very nice. They should open a restaurant, or a bar, but the brewing is not good.

Beer selection was okay. Food was a little overpriced compared to other breweries in the DC area. But all the food is from sustainable sources and local farms. $17 for they're only hamburger. There is also not much seating available and only a few tables which tend to be reserved at busy times. There is a nice outside area that has fans and heaters. My party had issues with getting bitten up by bugs. Their beers are available at local bars for less than they charge here. Overall I was not impressed.

I really love this place. specially in spring evenings when its getting kind of dark the outside and they turn on the lights. its really nice and kind of romantic. specially if you enjoy standing outside to enjoy the amazing weather. Beer is pretty good and I was satisfied with the service even though when I went there it was a busy night. one good advantage it has is that its next to the Vienna Bike Path. so its accessible even if you planned to take a walk there you can go and enjoy your rest of the evening in Caboose.

Fantastic beers. But your customer service needs some work. Your bartenders seemed disconnected with your customers, hostess is snobby and overall, needs serious work. We'll be standing outside next time or just will fill our growlers and leave. We love the beer!

We stopped by yesterday with our 1 year old son. The hostess was so friendly and kind to us. We appreciated how she brought our son crayons and paper to play with when he got restless. It was so sweet! We really enjoyed the beer, food, and outdoor setting. Highly recommended!

Bait and switch. $10 Monday burger comes without fries (which cost $6 more a la carte = $16), while same burger & fries on menu = $17. Only actually save $1. Shame, cuz great burger, and Husband liked "Trails & Ales" (run on W&OD trail, then beer). He wants to return, but not me. This was already my 2nd try, after scary 1st, to Caboose located at end of long row of dark warehouses, with very dark, rutted, parking lot w/puddles of who-knows-what and many, many shrubs and trees.

Caboose Tavern is doing a great job of providing a fun, family atmosphere to go enjoy some good beer and good food. They keep the beers rotating, and do a great job of catering to your tastebuds! The food is delicious and well-thought out. People might complain that it can be a little pricey for the portions, but I think that is old feedback. They have really done a fine job at getting the platings just right to leave the customer feeling satisfied with their selections. If you haven t had the zucchini fries, make sure you don t pass up on them...so delish. Yes, parking can be a little challenging, but that is more a complaint that should be directed towards the town of Vienna and the landlords of the building. They have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to try and get as much convenient parking as they can. They even got creative and found more parking in the back of the building where you can park after 6:30 pm and walk along a trail that has motion sensor lights to illuminate your pathway

Very nice dark beers. I stopped in for breakfast when I first move to Virginia. Yes, beer for breakfast!!! The French toast was also delicious. Nice atmosphere, hard to find location but worth it once you get there. Yes, it looks like an industrial loading dock, but walk around the corner and it is a hidden gem.

Caboose is a great addition to spectacular Vienna VA! It is brand new (Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was May 22) but looks destined to become a magnet for people who know and appreciate what microbreweries do so well. The selection of beers and ales will be tinkered with over the years, but the initial offering of eight will cover the range of anyone s palate. After sampling a flight (taste sampler) I chose their IPA, which is every bit as good as Sierra Nevada s storied Celebration or Lagunitas.

The staff is friendly, professional, attentive and courteous, and really appear to enjoy working there. I asked Ian Gidea, the Master Brewer what he thought was the best part of Caboose. His answer? It is the secret path off the popular W&OD Trail, he said with a wink. Jogging or bicycling is thirsty work.

If you're going to even bother why not give it 100%. Great beer requires no shortcuts, and it's pretty evident quite a few were taken. I'm never impressed with the food, the place smells like a sewer, and the beer is mediocre, at best. What is so sad is that the location is fantastic. Always a disappointment, and every time that I go here I just kind of shrug.

The setup is okay. The location isn't ideal. I assume it's because rent is cheaper being out there so they could pass on the savings (they don't). The hostess and our server were very kind and knowledgeable.

The burger (grass fed and organic) was 2/5 stars. I'd rather eat at Five guys. Oh and it's $15 for a mediocre tasting burger. Way too cooked, didn't even have a choice of how I wanted it cooked.

Overall the shop itself is creative and the staff is kind. The beer selection is great but WAY WAY WAY too overpriced and if they want to be a continued great business, they need to improve their food, their prices.

I held an event at Caboose in early March 2020. I found the event planner to not be helpful the day of the event. She sat on her computer while the staff ran up and down the stairs struggling to keep up with the drink orders. They didn't have functioning Taps in the area our event was taking place. The manager was the same. No help during event and actually kinda cold. They also started "Happy Hour" with eachother while our event was still going on and never helped the servers who were struggling to keep up with the orders. I thought it was odd. I would not have another event at Caboose.

PRICEY. $9 for a small glass of hard cider. $4 for an ash-tray size cup of flavored popcorn. Cider was good, popcorn was awful. Choose from the menu carefully. Many items overpriced. $26 for 2 glasses of cider and a ridiculously small amount of bad popcorn (including Vienna tax).

We walked in to this establishment looking for dinner. We arrived at 420 and saw a sign that said wait to be seated... We stood for a while and no one came to seat us. My husband went to ask at one of the servers for a table and he was short with my husband . He told us that dinner did not start until 5. That is fine we missed that Information, but the way it was conveyed to us was snobby and we did not feel welcome here.

The service was fine, and the industrial ambiance was a bit noisy. But the beers and the food were just plain. The Brussels sprouts were spiced with little more than pine nuts. How subtle is that? Or is it just boring and uninspired? The kale salad and mussels were no better. The crispy pork belly was a flavorful joy by comparison! Wish I could say the beers were a source of interest, but they were consistently bland. And the crackers were just too hard to eat.

Would have rated this establishment 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that Google's description for the place started with "Farm-to-table American fare...", but when I showed up thirsty and famished around 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon the menu was pretty much limited to french fries and popcorn. If Google would allow me to give 4.5 stars I totally would, as the quality of the beer was outstanding, and the overall atmosphere created by the decor, staff, and patrons was both eclectic and welcoming. If you're a regular here, then you would probably understand when I say that if I lived in the area, this brewery might just be the push I need to get back into cycling.

Cold beer on a very hot Saturday. A small group of us needed a place to grab a lunch, and relax from the heat - and Caboose provided all of that and even more. Very good food ( Eggs Benedict on salmon were spectacular), fast and kind service, clean facilities - all one may need on a day like that. Did I mention fantastic paint job - you will have to find it, but it is worthy it. Very easy to reach on a bicycle because in proximity of W&OD Trail; my GPS took me on some strange side streets before arriving there. Took home a growler of a very good pilzner; enjoyed it in the evening. Strongly recommended !

Caboose is an industrial park brewery typical for the DMV area. The side entrance was unexpected but, the orientation made sense once I noticed it connected with the local bike trail. It was busy when I visited and seemed popular with locals. Beer was okay but, I wasn't a fan of the gotab.io system it was a little too much "self checkout at the grocery store" and not enough customer service for me (even considering COVID-19). Perhaps confirmation that I'm officially old?

Ambience: charming, inviting, but intimate. City prices but definitely worth it for the food and beer. Food: always an attention to detail that is slow clap worthy. Get things to share. Pork belly is all the textures and goes so we'll with grits. Beer: always impressed by the fog ipa. It is a juicy version on West coast brews in the same style -- juicy farmhouse ipa? Is that a thing?
