A very popular place in the Grenoblois and very touristy. The easiest access is through the eggs (about 4 the climb). It is also possible to climb by the west or east trails. They are well surveyed by families where joggers but you can go through the via ferrata which is less surveyed. It takes about 40 minutes to climb and find a beautiful view of the city. From the Bastille also leave other hiking trails to Mount Jalla for example. It is a nice compromise to go hiking without getting away from Grenoble.

Fantastic views! Cable Car ride only takes a few mins and gets you around 80% up the mountain. About a 30 minute walk thereafter right to the very top including a walk through the caves where the French would escape the Germans back in WW2. Views were amazing! This is a must see in Grenoble.

Nice strong. It is worth going up both on foot and by cable car (on foot they are approximately 40 minutes) (the cable car costs 6 return for students).
When there is a beautiful day you can see the tip of the white mountain.
They used various fortress spaces to teach how to climb, for children and adults.

You can either take the cable car to go up there or walk. I would recommend to walk to the top and to take the cable car to go down.
The walk can be a bit exhausting but it is worth the view you have over Grenoble and the nature you are encountering on the way.
From the top of the mountain, you have an amazing view over the city of Grenoble as well as the surrounding mountains. It is definitely worth a trip.

You have to be in good shape to get there on foot. Considering my age and my weight, I still took an hour to climb. I went down with the cable car! But the view is breathtaking. To do - on foot or transported!

Beautiful view of the city from the top! Do take note however that the cable car is closed until end of January 2017. And the hike up can get pretty tough at certain points. And most importantly, do a check on the weather forecast before heading up as the clouds can ruin the view if one is unlucky.

Must visit place. You can enjoy the ascent / descent and give you clues about what awaits you above: stunning views of the valley, the mountains that define it and the city of Grenoble and its metropolitan area ... There is also place for the enjoyment of small and young people and places to have a soda or even eat ... Perhaps the only drawback is that the booths are not refrigerated, it was very hot and somewhat overwhelmed, but who is to blame for the 35 Today in Grenoble?!?!?!
WORTH!

Unmissable if you are passing through Grenoble, the view is impressive, do not hesitate to do the descent in a "bubble", a sort of cable car designed specifically for this place (but climb there on foot!) :)

A visit to the Bastille is very interesting. From here you have a wonderful view of the city of Grenoble and the wider area. An inexpensive cable car runs from Grenoble across the Isere River to the old fortress. The Bastille of Grenoble, a fortress from the 19th century, now with a restaurant and modern sports facilities is recommended.

A magnificent panorama over Grenoble and its agglomeration.
It has disabled access, a restaurant, activities such as tree climbing and a via ferata as well as a beautiful museum on the Bastille and the mountain troops.

Absolutely fantastic historical site. Well kept with lots of information in both English and French. Breathtaking views of the city and the Alpes despite it's relatively low altitude it's perfectly positioned, you'll quickly understand why they built a fort here! I advise walking up to take in more of the old walls and pathways. There's plenty of steps, but otherwise easy ~45 min walk with modest level of fitness required

The ascent with the gondola is quick and you already have a nice view, which is topped by the view from the Bastille on Grenoble. The restaurant is expensive there, probably because there is no competition. I definitely recommend taking the footpath back down, as it is not that far and you get great impressions.
