Selection is limited and prices aren't great:but a great place to find BYU apparel, and chocolate covered cinnamon bears
Very good staff and beautiful interior. Awesome Store
I bought an access code and it did not have what it said it had. The bookstore refused to reimburse me even though I was dishonestly tricked into purchasing this product using false advertising.
The bookstore itself is basically a tourist trap. Souvenirs, knicknacks and clothing, all wildly overpriced.
The tech center on the top floor has pretty good service. The 'twilight zone' has saved me so many times when I was stuck on campus and needed something quick.
It closes way too early to be really useful to many students, though.
They just renovated and it looks amazing. Prices are decent and the fudge sold in the middle of the store is great.
The delivery was really fast. I also really like being on the mailing list, so I am made aware of great deals.
You just feel bad for the employees here. This is the main place to buy BYU textbooks and they are RIDICULOUSLY expensive and the lines are out of control long, but it's not the poor guy's fault who's stuck ringing you up so he can try to afford his own books. They rebranded a year or two ago because publicity was so bad. A Hallmark Greeting Card merchandiser accidentally put out gay marriage greeting cards...that almost caused a riot. All the rest of their clothing and BYU wear is still ridiculously overpriced and that is no one's fault but their own.
I bought a student subscription to the Adobe Creative Cloud on Saturday. I was then told it couldn't be activated until Monday morning because only their secretary can do it. I go in today at noon to ask when it will be done, and was told by 4pm. It's now 8:15pm, and still nothing. When told something will be done by a certain time (within reason) I expect it to be done on time.
Great selection of products and excellent service. Never had a bad experience.
One stop shop for just about anything, even if you are not a university student. From paintings to laptops, books to t-shirts, food to computer repair services. This has got to be the best place on campus!
The prices always start unreasonably high, but they have discounts going about half of the time. You can usually find a better textbook price on Amazon, but they have some fun clothes for a decent price and some fun LDS stuff. They often have nice wedding presents, if you're looking for something decorative. And their fudge is, of course, amazing. Some employees aren't customer service pros, but most are really nice and helpful. It's pretty standard customer service. It's not outstanding, but poor service is unusual and usually limited to a customer, an employee, or even a situation.
It's a great store. I remember going there as a kid from Arizona when before the days of the internet BYU gear wasn't everywhere. Great selection of LDS books and treats. Closes too early.
Great service but very overpriced. This especially goes for textbooks. I got one that was a BYU custom book 'that you can only get at the BYU Store' with an access code and after I had used the code to register, my class found a way to get the code from the publisher directly at half the price. So, I paid $70 for the access and $70 on a print version of the book (the online access included the ebook). Could have saved $70 buy buying direct from the publisher. What a joke. This is not the first time I have been ripped off by the bookstore. Buyer beware.
Used to be a great store with a great selection of books, but now it's just BYU/Nike clothing and average candy.
I have went here many times through the years I lived in this area. They have a great computer store here with Apple another computer products. On the second floor is where you get your textbooks. They also have a great County Department here. A great place to buy BYU apparel.
Great for BYU fans, but not for students. The books are poorly organized and the text book system is antiquated and ineffective.
I ordered used books almost two weeks and my order was accepted only to be cancelled yesterday and I was charged the new book price. If you didn't have used books available you should have let me know that at the time of the order. Now I have to scramble to find some used books elsewhere which i could have done two weeks ago. Very bad service and a bit dishonest
The latest books from all genres, lots of BYU swag, and a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Distribution Center make this a worthwile place to shop.
They have everything you need, if they don't, go somewhere else!
Very hard to get anyone on the line. Had to call several times before getting someone.
I love their chocolate covered seasalt caramels and if you spend over $5 they will gift-wrap free!
Purchased an item for a birthday and paid $21.49 for fedex standard overnight shipping.
The item was shipped via UPS and is scheduled to be delivered the following week.
I don't know if it's pure nostalgia but I love going back to the BYU store (especially since it's not to buy textbooks anymore). The student staff are always very friendly, and there's an awesome variety of BYU swag for all price ranges. Plus, chocolate covered cinnamon bears, creamery chocolate milk, fudge... You know, the important stuff.
Very pricy but it's a good place to get a wide variety of merchandise.
I worked here down in receiving and shopped here frequently as well. The prices are high, but it's the same at other university bookstores as well. With the employee discount I ended up getting some good deals. The candy counter here is pretty awesome as well. I would recommend this as a place to work if you're a student and need a part time job.
Prices are for convenience, not to be competitive. You can find a better price for books at nearly any other store. I try to avoid purchasing and selling back through them whenever possible.
That fudge... It is pricey but yum! Nice art options in the basement. It is a nice, clean, bright school store.
Ordered some Christmas presents online to be shipped out of state. I received multiple email updates about the status and shipping of my items and they arrived on schedule. Great email promotions. Wide variety of items. Will shop again.
The only thing I ever buy here are BYU exclusive textbooks. But I always see how much they will buy my books back for!
It's a great place for BYU gear but sometimes feels overpriced
My first experience buying textbooks online was horrible. Literally exactly two weeks from the day I bought it they send me an email saying there was an issue with payment and when i respond they never get back to me. I finally find the time to call and they said my bank should have let me know the payment never went through which makes no sense because they never got the correct payment info. Two weeks from the day I ordered it they finally shipped it and who knows how long the shipping will take.
I have had to bother my teacher every few days so she could send me the pdf. It was such a hassle and on top of everything, the book was only 5 dollars, not even worth my time.
I spent like 3 hours looking for the BYU Bookstore and ended up here instead. A great alternative to the BYU Bookstore if you're looking for something local!
The other people giving reviews are not taking into account the fact that fan apparel costs more than normal clothes. A lot of these reviewers are probably the stereotypical cheapskate Mormon. This store actually has many sales throughout the year where you can get fan apparel - even Nike - at up to 70% off. Subscribe to their email list and be my witness if you want a good deal. I have always had nice experiences going there and recommend it to any cougar fan out there.
Nice store, overpriced in many items but overall ok. Really nice shipping place.
Too expensive, but have all the BYU hear you could ever want. Chocolate covered cinnamon bears are amazing though.
It is very conveniently located but it is overpriced. Pretty much anything that can be purchased from this store can be found for a better price elsewhere.
I ll have to agree with what others have pointed out. Customer service is horrendous. I spoke to someone on the phone, despite having limited social skills she omitted to share some information that would have prevented me from going to the store and wasting my time.
If you're a BYU superfan and you have lots of money, shop here. If you're on a college budget, avoid buying anything here, especially BYU clothes and stuff.
They have good selection, but it's all really pricey.
As far as textbooks go, you can almost always get them cheaper on Amazon.
What a great online experience. The bookstore has finally started to do things how the customer likes -- online, fast, and easy. Way to go BYU bookstore!
Personally, I ve never once had any problems at the BYU store, and I ve been going there pretty regularly since 2013. Like any college store, there s plenty of stuff that s marked up a little higher than retail value, but they have a decent selection. The staff has always been helpful and courteous. Their website functionality sometimes leaves something to be desired, but the store itself is great.
Quick shipping in response to my order. Much appreciated.
The BYU Store is annoying. Also who actually calls it "The BYU Store"? I ordered an "in stock" used textbook, they ran out, and charged me extra to get a new one. All they sell is over priced BYU gear now. It's ridiculous. Everyone except the people at the candy counter are grouchy and preoccupied. Better management and pay would probably do wonders.
Do shopping at a discount. BYU store has a lot for you.
I paid for a book online from the BYU store for a certain price and was charged way more than what I had paid for at the online checkout. They refused to refund me the money even though my receipt clearly had a fixed price on it. I eventually ended up canceling the the payment on my credit card and fought the charge. I got the book for free because the BYU store did not honor the price on my receipt.
Very inefficient process for buying books. I bought a book online and went in about half an hour later to pick it up, only to realize that they had to take about a day to process my order. I found the book on the shelf and brought it to the counter, but couldn't take it. Didn't make much sense to me...
Absolutely terrible customer service at the Pack & Ship downstairs. (Description of employee for any follow up needed by admin: Female employee with glasses and blonde hair that works on Tuesdays winter semester of 2020)
I come in with a computer monitor for shipping a return. Here we go with the story:
She says they don t have boxes big enough to ship this product- BUT WAIT: I ve shipped LARGER things from here before. Multiple times. Once, they even combined boxes to ship it! So this is not accurate.
Okay fine, can you at least print the shipping label off of the computer printer so I don t have to lug this 27 monitor over to the library to print it out? Oh we can t do that. Are you sure? I literally SEE A PRINTER AND A COMPUTER RIGHT THERE. No no, we cannot do that for you. The library has public access computers yes thank you I m very familiar with public access computers thank you very much as having been here as an undergrad and now grad student.
She didn t even get up out of her chair to greet incoming customers, didn t stand up to explain anything, didn t even apologies. All just denial and would rather sit there.
Now I m lugging this thing across campus. So steamed. I hope there s some discipline and training. Please respond to this to show you guys at least care at all about training capable employees.
Edit: I ve even worked as an employee at the BYU store my freshman year and man, I understood and performed much better service than this as a newbie!
Although I love BYU and appreciate the efforts of the workers I dealt with, I'm very disappointed with the BYU Bookstore, particularly when it comes to ordering textbooks. They are overpriced, my order came incomplete (4 days later than an order placed on the same day with Amazon, I might add), and I was charged for a new textbook when I ordered a used one, even though they never checked with me about making that change. Don't ever buy your textbooks from the BYU Bookstore, and DEFINITELY don't order them online. They don't deserve your business; just stick with Amazon.
It might be silly but my girlfriend and I love to walk through here and look at all the things we want to buy someday. There are awesome artworks for sale downstairs that are religious in nature. I love looking at those. They also have books from the BYU religious study center that I don t think you can buy elsewhere. They always have some sort of sale on BYU gear. There is a rack next to the west door with discounted chocolate and candies that is worth checking out. The employees are very friendly and helpful. This is probably one of my favorite stores. They have a nice online pickup set up upstairs that is very functional except during the first week or so of classes so don t try it during that time period.
I don't understand some of the negative reviews. There is ANYTHING you could possibly think of to buy here. From students to the casual person to a cougar fan. The price are actually very good. You have to remember that much of the merchandise is NCAA approved, meaning you are going to pay a little extra. I love the store and having three stories high and the huge amount of space and items, you can't go wrong.
The candy counter is definitely the best part, it has a wide selections of chocolates and non-chocolates too! Designed for a college student's budget, so it's affordable too :)
Love my cougar gear!!!! I love love love reppin the Y!! GO COUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to find a packet for one of my classes that was not available for online pickup registration. I couldn't find it, so I naturally sought guidance from the information desk. While standing in line, the guy at the desk left with the person he was assisting for another register. On his way back, he decided to stop at another line, leaving me no option but to go back in the now-much-longer line. The lack of friendliness and basic customer service didn't really bother me so much, but the blatant disregard for an attending customer seems unbecoming of BYU staff.
Good customer service and good for your basic needs. It's convenient.
Train your employees. They have terrible customer service and are rude when you ask questions. It wasn't even very busy but it seemed to annoy them that my wife and I would even have a question. One employee was particularly rude and dismissive, giving us a very "how could you not know that--are you stupid" tone and attitude. I left very disappointed.
Absolutely unless. Byu Store that represents the church is providing the worst customer service of all time. I bet a dollar tree with no employees could have better customer service than this place.
Awesome place to shop! Prices are great and the people who work here are so personable and kind. I love BYU Store!
The BYU Bookstore is neatly organized, and I found it extremely easy to find what I was looking for. As a student at BYU, it's really great knowing that when I order books or other things online through BYU, the order will be filled quickly, and I can pick it up with little hassle.
