Would not take a dog I found running in the road in Oroville as I was driving back to Chico. I saved a dog from getting hit by a car and thought I was bringing it to a safe place, but instead had to take it home when I can't have dogs. Will never donate to them if this is how it works. It's called Butte humane society not chico humane society.

Very very unprofessional we took our dog in to surrender because of a emergency situation they told me to my face that they were going to euthanize my dog because he wouldn't pass their 5 step test.and they tried to tell me he tried to nitr someone when he in fact only barked at a lady when she came through the door because he was scared.i told them they not kulling our dog they said well if he doesn't pass the 5 test and isnt adoptable then they would call me before they euthanize him i told them they better call me.i am extremely heartbroken and am currently trying to get him back I knew i shouldn't of taken him there. They say they have a no kill policy but when they tell you they are going to kill your 8 month old puppy they are complete liers don't take ur fur babies to these people

I don't know much about how things run on a day to day basis at the Butte Humane Society, but I volunteered there a few days after the Camp Fire started and and I was thoroughly impressed how efficiently they were able to receive donations in and get them out to evacuees that managed to escape with their pets. They managed to received and distribute a couple truckloads of pet food and supplies in just a couple days.

Butte Humane Society is a great animal shelter. There are a fair percentage of people that think the conditions are deplorable or just inhumane ways the animals are kept. As someone who did community service there for 3 months; I understand these misunderstood thoughts because it can bring on depressing emotions. It's a shelter where many animals are brought in,and many dropped off, abandoned. Some also disagree with what they think they see about how the animals are kept. Really, that's only a small percentage of the process and only what the public sees. The animals are cared for by people that work there who love them, and follow a working protocol to intake, hold, spay/neuter, etc. until ready to be out in line for adoption. Sure it can look sad to see them behind cages with cold floors beneath there paws, but you trying to walk by someone who works there everyday, they are then, they even are closed for the cold weather with blankets and a bed that is up off the floor. really is a beautiful place with status of people that loves animals and are doing everything they can the resources to have to help every animal that comes inside a new loving home like I have with my Connor pictured below

I really haven't been to this place. My cat recently died, so I was donating his food etc to the humane society. I didn't go in, I spoke with a couple of employees who were very polite, informative, and grateful.

So thankful for the services provided to me and my two cats post Campfire! In the midst of such utter chaos and life-shattering devestation the staff here never fell short of patience, compassion or kindness. Something I will forever be grateful for.

We applied to get a dog and the employees were very sweet and helpful. They told us everything we needed to know about the application so we didn't have to call again. All in all, these people are very sweet and this place is great!

A grateful thank you to Laurie Gonzales for helping us with our dog's passing. She was so loving and kind and allowed us to be a part of the experience. She made a very hard procedure much more bearable.

Butte humane society is I purchased a purebred German Shepherd went through and to get her shots and done and more information on the animals for her and their prices are very reasonable considering with other vets they make it affordable for people that are on disability or on a low fixed income per disabled or some years I think there are a great asset to the community and I hope they go strong for a long time I give you five stars

Staff was extremely kind and helpful. I choose a Cat who came in as a pregnant stray. She had her litter, nursed them and was fixed. She was loved, very well socialized and litter box trained. Thank you all!

I wouldn't recommend but I don't think the poor animals should have to suffer because of the staffs incompetence. If they tell you to bring your dog (s) in to meet the other dog don't that's a very good way to get your dog sick. I was very disappointed with the way we were treated as well as surprised. We went somewhere else to get our dog and he is wonderful. I liked his foster but I think most of his positive trait can be attributed to the dog himself who is thesweetest. I'm glad it didn't work out with then but there number one priority should be finding good homes for the animals.

We are very excited about the dog "Lady", we purchased there at the shelter. She fit perfectly into our family, this is the second time we got a dog from a shelter and we are convinced they make the best pets, they seem to know you rescued them. The young Ladies working there are very kind and loving toward the pets & the customers as well!!

Took my female cat in to get spayed. Got charged a $25 fee for pregnancy termination, this wouldn't have been a big deal if it weren't not for the fact that she is an indoor cat, has been for years & the only contact that she has with other cats is with my other indoor cats who are both fixed. I tried explaining that it was not possible for her to be pregnant but they wouldn't listen & still charged me. Be careful.

Can't say I would recommend this place. I got my cat microchipped here and she ended up getting stolen from me. In the process of me trying to track her with the microchip I found out that the person who took her brought her back to Butte Humane Society and got the microchip information changed to be hers. This is very shady and when I confronted them on it, I was told to take it to small claims court. So if you want to risk your pet being stolen then look no further than taking them to this clinic.

About 10a.m. I drove my daughter to see if she could volunteer...doors locked (of course) "by appointment only". However they had 2 #s to call she left a VM on each and still no call back
