Everything was superb! Loved the ambiance and our food was delicious! Rickey our server was fantastic. Will be returning.
Great atmosphere surpassed only by first rate service and steaks plus stuffed hash browns to die for.
There is too much to say about this amazing restaurant. The location in Philadelphia is excellent and the decor inside is upscale. The food was absolutely amazing! We ended up eating most of our meal in silence because the food was just that good. If you're looking for a side with your meal, I would absolutely suggest the macaroni and cheese.
We came here for CCD Restaurant week. The food was delicious. No issues. The waitress was friendly and accommodating for our table of 5
My experience here was a mix of highs and lows. The Shrimp and Crab Louie was the perfect choice for an appetizer/salad. The Porterhouse for Two was disappointing. Accurately described by our waiter as one side loin and the other strip, the strip side was very tough. I hate to have to politely spit out grizzle and pile it neatly on the side of my plate. Forget the Porterhouse and try the Delmonico. The Loaded Hash Browns were very good as were the medley of Mushroom and Onions, but the Roasted Brussels Sprouts were tough. The cores were not trimmed (which is something I always do) and they lacked any of that bacon and roasted flavor you look for.The service was very good but almost bordered on annoying. When ask how our dinner was I told them about the lack of preparation on the Sprouts and the grizzle. I did say it was more a matter of my choice of cut than poor quality. He responded with, "Ohh, ok." which did not convince me that the head chief of the kitchen would ever receive our comments. There was no choice of type of roast for the after dinner coffee ( I favor dark roast), but the very good Carrot Cake made up for this. I don't think I'll rush back, especially with many other choices for a good steak here in Philadelphia.
This is a swanky upscale restaurant. The decor is dark and intimate. The food is ala-cart and EXPENSIVE. With the 6 I went with, we had a $400+ bill and it is worth every single penny. Their wine and spirit selection is top notch. So don't expect to get absolute vodka or seagrams gin. I spent 45 dollars on the best whiskey and personally, I deserved it. Wait staff are super accommodating and friendly. They make you feel at home. If you got the money to blow, go have a great experience here. You won't regret it.
Amazing meal with a lot of friends! Tried octopusbfor the first time. Lobster mashed potatoes - to die for! Will definitely go back when I get back to Philly!
Great upscale restaurant with an amazing atmosphere. Our waiter was outstanding giving us the best advice on food and drinks. Pro tip: get the asparagus grilled, need to ask. Food was outstanding as well!
Excellent food. Prices in line with other high end steak houses.
Service was excellent
Food was ok steaks very salty
We had a phenomenal experience at Butcher and Singer. The decor and atmosphere were top notch (love the dogs), the food was beyond good (melt in your mouth steaks), and the service was exceptional! Our waitress was attentive, kind, and a true professional; I wish I knew her name. If you're reading this, awesome waitress, and you helped that young couple celebrate their anniversary yesterday - kudos to you! You rocked. Additionally, I like that the restaurant manager came by to our table to make sure everything was going well and their wine list was long and well-rounded. We will definitely be coming back to B&S once as soon as we can. Thank you for the great experience and dynamite dinner.
I called on 1/24 about sending my daughter a bottle of Dom for her birthday . Very helpful looked for the reservation of my daughter for 15 minutes great service .
Call 1/26 to purchase the Dom and the same person that was so helpful before states . We can t do a transaction tonight it has to be 24 hrs payment before hand
The reservation is tonight at 9:15 1/25
Hope a owner or general manager see this . My daughter travel from Dc to Philly to go to your restaurant!
Had lunch with colleagues and our waiter Brian was excellent and the turkey club was really good
Nice ambience, slow service. Overrated, high prices.
The atmosphere was classy and very reminiscent of the 1920s. The food and drinks were stellar and we could not have had a better waiter. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special date night or a large group outing as they are very accommodating. When you tell them it's your anniversary, as it was in our case, the entire staff told us Happy Anniversary throughout the night, we were given complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate and they gave us their famous Baked Alaska dessert as well. We had the best experience and can't wait to try it again soon.
Went for a restaurant week and the server was hating every minuete of it. I understand it affects their money but you really shouldn t make your guests unwelcome since the only reason I came was because of restaurant week now I know not to come back when there s a ton of other great spots in center city! Management please take notes and if you decide to participate in restaurant week make sure your team is aware of it and don t let something like that ruin your reputation. If servers are unhappy make them take off for that week so they realize that little money is better than no money!
Excellent steak options that melt in your mouth. The utmost quality in food preparation and presentation.
Went for restaurant week and truly enjoyed everything. Service was great
Loved it. Ricky was our very attentive waiter. My kids took me there for an early birthday dinner, as I would have been out of town. The delmonico! No words. The flaky rolls to die for. Highly recommend!
I had the Halibut. It was flavorful. The service was really good. The wait staff were very polite and efficient
Great service, ambiance was superb food was amazing
It s a high class steak house.
Foods with salt too much... it s not suitable for me.
Got food poisoning from a medium rare steak. With prices like the ones they charge... this is unacceptable, sad really.
Great for dinner or a business lunch. Delicious steak, great sides, juicy burger. Great service too!
Visting from ny/nj area and decided to have dinner by myself here . The food was beyond amazing . Started off with a caesar salad followed by their bransino . After indulging I decided to try their desert . Ended up with a slice of carrot cake whipped to perfection . Everything complimented very well with a (3) glasses of their newton skyside-red label claret. To say the least most definitely will be coming back when im in the philadelphia area .
My favorite steak house. I recommend the aged porterhouse. Classic serving style and classic sides. The place is legendary!
Elegant dinning room. Good food. Very classy steakhouse.
This restaurant doesn't just make u feel at peace, it's soothing to the soul . From the look and feel when u walk up due to the gentleman waiting at the door to give you VIP valet service . The music is soothing to the ears. The hostess are pleasant ,pretty and great you with great customer service . The staff at the bar are friendly and keep great convo during your time of service. Then going to the dining hall the food is amazing . My only concern is the closeness of the tables due to the space inside but overall a 5star dining experience to me . Love this place
Boo to Stephen Starr!!!! I have spent thousands of $$$$ here for entertaining clients and always requested a certain waiter from their waitstaff . He always made myself and clients feel like we were getting 5 star treatment every time, and also helped me land huge business deals from the experience at dinners and lunches. But due to an unfortunate event the best waiter in the city was fired for a incident that was not his fault and was a victim of some other waiters negligence. I will never spend another $ at any of the Starr restaurants in Philly or anywhere else and will never recommend anyone to go to these establishments. It's a travesty that an unjustified firing will deprive folks the pleasure of the best dining experience by a fantastic waiter. Shame on Starr Restaurants!!!!!
Drew was an outstanding server, the food was delicious, and the location was great for dinner and a show!
The food is amazing! Service is awesome! Atmosphere is beautiful! Definitely coming back!
I asked for quiet area on reservation. They tried to seat its in middle of crowded dining room and only grudgingly moved us. There was plenty of room.
Dinner fit 2, no drinks, no appetizer., no dessert was $125 before tip. This was 2 streaks and 2 sides. Good, but not with the price.
this place was really good we came to visit the area and we really enjoyed our selves..
Great atmosphere. Also the best Manhattan cocktail in Philadelphia!
Best filet mignon I've had to date. Great service and original drinks too.
Had reservations. Sat immediately. Greeted quickly. Server was quick and thorough as he went through the specials and explanation of menu and restaurant history. We ordered oysters on the half shell, they were nice sized, cold and shucked cleanly! We split a wedge with the roquefort and it was brought to the table already split which was nice and it was delicious. I ordered the 8oz filet med rare, husband ordered Porterhouse med well. My steak was cooked more than his and we had to send both back. Kind of felt like the manager argued slightly with me about the temp but was polite. I also know that neither steaks we received were the size stated on the menu. I ordered the truffle butter on mine and it was good but a lot of butter. I was able the share it with my husband. We also ordered the Stuffed Hashbrowns which are very good as were the Mushrooms and Onions. We skipped dessert as we were not blown away by anything we ordered. Service was excellent and we were never low on water. Wouldn't return.
Love the decor and the service was great. Both were topped only by the food.
Phenomenal experience. The steaks were perfect. The service was perfect. It was a perfect restaurant and now Butcher and Singer is my go to splurge restaurant.
Great service, food, drink in attractive but relaxed setting with excellent acoustics
I know this place is known for their steaks. Now where the streaks are most definitely amazing to say the least, I have had swordfish before and I had it here and I can honestly say that I have never tasted anything more amazing than that. I live in Maryland and will be coming back to Philly for this restaurant specificly.
I expected better; initial impressions were not realised.
Somehow, appetizers were served and finished before the wine (ordered before the food, as typical) could even be brought to the table.
Transferring side-orders with the viscosity of heavy soup onto plates with only a knife and fork added a fun challenge to the whole affair.
The sorbet was great.
On the Stephen Starr scene, there are a few locales that even he keeps in high regard - Parc, Alma, Talula's, etc. - but today's lunch at Butcher and Singer was by far the most flavorful (AND AFFORDABLE) experience I've had.
Any restauranteur will tell you that lunch is always more affordable than dinner but for $17/person, you can enjoy a rather filling meal from a steak house that can put Chops to shame.
Nice place for a special event night. Top notch service and excellent menu. Best porterhouse that I have had in many years. Enough choices and specials for most every pallette. For 6, drinks, appetizers, salad, entrees, sides, and dessert came to $500 + tip.
Excellent food, amazing staff and great choices.
I would opt out of the St Louis style cooking for any steaks but great all around.
Filet was excellent tonight! Top notch service too!
What's not to love? If you haven't been here you're missing out. Best steaks in Philadelphia hands down.
Was on vacation, so i knew i had to take Patco over to Philly one of those days, and have a butcher burger. Unfortunately it's only served at lunch time, so i can never get it when I'm working. Don't get me wrong, their dinner is amazing to, but there is something about the butcher burger that I crave. Maybe it's the special sauce, the fresh, top grounded up beef, or the fresh house made fries. You just need to try it. Price has gone up quite a bit from when i first started going, but it's still worth it in my opinion. If you're in the city, and haven't been there for lunch, then what are you waiting for! Don't let it's high end surroundings keep you from going.
Service and food are always of the highest quality.
One of the best Burgers I've ever had in Philly. Its huge, and it comes with a ton of fries! Came cooked exactly as I ordered it, and perfectly seasoned.
One of the best parts of this restaurant is the decor. It has a very old-timey feel, almost as if you're sitting in a restaurant in the 1950's. The staff was fantastic. The waitress checked on us multiple times throughout our meal to make sure everything was perfect.
If you're looking for a great burger in a great atmosphere, definitely check this place out!
Food was great! Steak came out a little more cooked than what I asked for, but the waiter did warn me that it would happen. Drinks were great. Waiter's drink recommendations were spot on.
Dont order the Tomahawk they dont know how to cook it. Stick with the filet mignon
Great ambiance, excellent staff, and the food was top-notch. Went here for restaurant week, and the options were fantastic for the price.
Ordered a burger medium well. Came to me pink as can be. Host then came how do I want it. I said medium well like I asked. Gave it back. Came back to me well done. Never going back again
Great and flavorful food, I love the character this place has, and the workers were welcoming. Will surely come back again.
Very nice restaurant but will charge you for everything ... I paid $6 for truffle butter
The biscuits... You need to try the biscuits. Came here for a bachelor party and the food was phenomenal. The restaurant was a little warm but it still felt comfortable. Highlight of the meal was the damn biscuits they give you when sit down. Still thinking about those biscuits...
Excellent, excellent, excellent. Top notch food and service. Everything was superb from the house made rolls with honey butter to the baked Alaska for dessert. Branzino was terrific and highly recommended. Swordfish was amazing. Brussel sprouts were fantastic. Hash brown is also highly recommended. It was terrific.
Entered near ten, it was not crowded. It has an awesome feel to it. I can see why they have so many reviews.
Everything was delicious. We had the ceasar salad, 8 oz. Filet, bacon mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes. The BlackBerry cosmopolitan was amazing.
Great food and excellent service! Worth the experience! Will be back again!
Lived up to the hype.
This was a last minute spur of the moment dinner and we walked in and were seated right away.
They took our coats and led us to our seats which were nice. They were on the side but elevated so we could see the main dining room.
The vibe is very old school but nice. Great for conversations, nothing that was too distracting but plenty to talk about.
We got these buttermilk biscuits to start and they were incredible. I was impressed.
Then I had a crab cake appetizer which was nice and served incredibly quickly. After that I had an 8oz Fillet which was cooked perfectly and topped with truffle butter. I had a side of mashed potatoes which lacked flavor but were the right consistency.
I ended the night with this lemon tart dessert which was a nice way to tie the whole meal together.
I def recommend you go and eat well. The best thing about it all was that the food and service was excellent and efficient. I don t think I ve ever had food come out so quickly and still taste so good.
Worth it, great service and even better food! there is a coat check, and the spaceing between tables is mostly manageable so you're not bumping into people.
Roasted chicken, was great! This is a place for going to love!
Great food and great service. The stuffed hash browns are amazing.
I had the GREATEST time of my life on my Birthday which April 28. The staff here is great and very welcoming. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. I HIGHLY recommend this place!
First thoughts: incredible, and I loved the ambiance and interior design.
We were seated at a table towards the front/middle, but it still felt intimate and the seats were comfortable and plush.
Our waiter Jeremy was great and made the awesome recommendation of the pork chop explaining he thought the fruit and nut chutney really made it, and he was right! The stuffed hash browns were of course incredible.
Great service, our table was kept clean and our glasses full. Definitely recommend and definitely will return!
Great stake. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff great place .
