Great staff, very knowledgeable in helping me choose the proper bike for my needs. Also nailed it with others items to make my cycling safer and more comfortable. Footwear staff were not only knowledgeable about current shoes but could compare them to previous models I wore and loved. Overall my favorite store for all my outdoor activities.

Excellent service. Shout out to all the guys in service to assist me in parts for my build, fair prices, professional technical support. Glad to support local business Greg
Never disappoints. I buy most of my sporting goods at the bush. Love the new yoga clothing line for women. Staff always awesome, never feel pressured and yet always someone available.
The bike shop at Bushtukah has great service. I went in to get my derailleur tuned expecting it to be a few days. John tuned it for me on the spot, all while explaining what was wrong with it and how to fix it (turns out the hanger was slightly bent among other things). I would recommend getting your bike fixed here, friendly staff and fast service.
Pretty well stocked with a large variety of clothing, sport items and bikes. Very much a rugged chaotic shop with things everywhere. Comb through and there are some great deals. Service was friendly and helpful.
Courteous, competent staff; several employees speak French. Good selection of sports clothes and shoes. Depending on the season, a good variety of bikes and cross-country skis (and appropriate clothing and accessories).
Good selection, not good service. Went in and found a bike for my son bit needed to order a different size. They said 1-2 weeks. Called back just short of the 2 weeks and found out they never ordered it. Said they would and it would be in in a couple of days. 5 days later got a call that it was in. I called back to verify that it was ready to be picked up and they said if you got a call then it's ready to just pick up. Went in and was told it needed to be tuned and it would be a 30 minute wait...i only had about 10 minutes, that's why I called to verify. Have to go back again in a couple of days to (hopefully) actually get the bike.
What a great group of people always so happy to help. Would highly recommend going in and seeing what they are about. Non pressure sales tactics and will most definitely take their time to make sure you understand what you are buying.
Bushtukah Westboro's staff went beyond normal customer service on two occasions this past weekend . On one occasion one of the salesman telephoned me after I left the store because I had not received some instructions for the product that I bought. On the second occasion a technician in the store helped me with a problem with my bicycle wheel, giving me some tips and coaching on how to fix the problem .
It looks like a decent store with a good selection of good quality products but unfortunately I always feel invisible every time I go there. I've given this store a chance a dozen times and only once I received customer service which was average to mediocre. The other times, customer service was non-existent at this location. Just a simple acknowledgement from one of the staff would be a nice start.
Attended a free bicycle maintenance course at the Westboro Bushtukah store last evening. Lots of great advice and tips for keeping your bike in top performance!
I wanted to support a local retailer and buy from a brick and mortar store. So I called ahead, before making a lengthy trip, to make sure they had my size in both a very specific model Arc'teryx shell and a puffy for me to try on and buy. When I asked The person who answered the phone to confirm the in-store availability, before I could tell him which models, I was promptly put on hold and forgotten. No one picked up the phone again. I've always bought my Arc'teryx and North Face gear from here for ten years, but in the future I'll save the trouble and buy online elsewhere. Quite frankly, when I call Sporting Life Landsdowne, I get amazing service. They find exactly what I want and put it on hold for me.
I was moseying around the store looking for my first non-trash bike and my first pair of skis when this wild expert appeared.
With his vast knowledge and superhumanlike patience, he singlehandedly found me my dream bike, the perfect pair of skis and equipment, all while staying within budget.
If you're a beginner like me and you have just a mild idea of what you're going for, look no further. Go to Bushtukah in Westboro and pray that you come across this unicorn by the name of Don.
The moment we walked into Bushtukah on a very busy spring day, Collin, although serving a customer, gave us a sign that he had noticed us and would be with us shortly. The short wait was more than worth it. Colllin went out of his way to open many packages in order to assess if the product would match my daughter's requirements. He did so patiently and carefully, paying us the utmost attention. Afterwards, realizing that the item was not available in the store, he proceeded to research availability of the item online. Although we left without actually buying anything, the way we were treated and the extra effort Collin made for us, will bring us back to this store very soon.
Always great selection of parts and clothing for cycling and running. Awesome sale prices and a range for both budget or quality conscious. Plenty of staff to help. For cycling I prefer it even over MEC as stock and selection are consistently better and staff is very knowledgeable.
Spent about an hour wondering through the store, trying to find a new bike.... Didn't get approached once by staff, went to ask for assistance from a couple of staff who were chatting and they didn't even acknowledge us... So we left...
Friendly staff and a good selection of bikes and clothing. The store is often very crowded though so it is sometimes hard to get service. The prices are a bit on the high side, but the quality is good.
The guy working the bike parts knew what he was doing, helped me get the correct parts for my rear wheel rebuild. Even gave me a free freewheel remover.
I want to thank Chris and Robert who helped me out immensely today. Cheerful and resourceful they helped me find what I needed for the next adventure. It feels good to buy locally!
I am new in town and I tried this store to get my bike serviced. Customer service at the shop desk was poor, they wouldn t order the parts needed. Also, considering this was the second week after ON reopened stores, nobody was wearing a mask, employees didn t observe physical distancing, nobody was monitoring how many people were getting into the store. Too many bike shops in Ottawa to bother with this one.
Awesome staff and great selection. A good place to start looking for a new bike, the staff will get you sized up and test riding bikes in no time. Also easy to return things
I will preempt this by stating that I love Bushtukah. I really do. I bike and camp a lot and will go out of my way to give them the business instead of ordering online from other vendors.
Having said that, the online shopping tool is useless. I recently ordered a camping knife for curb-side pickup. I waited five days before calling to give them time, given the pandemic-induced influx of online orders.
Once I called, I was informed that the knife was not in stock and that they were "looking for an alternative". I don't want an alternative. I know exactly what I want.
Somebody should have had the decency to at least call or email to let me know. I could have adjusted accordingly. I need the knife for an upcoming trip and have now had to order it elsewhere, but was forced to pay for express shipping to give it any chance of arriving in time. Very frustrating, as well as disappointing.
Best customer experience I've ever had from a bike repairman. Took my bike in to get the bottom bracket looked at cause it was creaking terribly. Was expecting to have to wait days but the shop guy was chill and instead said he could do it in no time at all and even asked if I wanted to observe while he took it apart. So. Cool. I'd spent many hrs watching tutorials and making lists of tools that I thought I might need for the job, which was stressful. Turns out it needed replacement. I got to see it all AND the tools used and met a really great person in the process. I didn't catch his name but he was def the most senior of the ppl working the bike shop that day and he wears glasses. So much info! Thank you, Sir!
Out of stock on standard bike tubes, when I asked an employee where I could find a different product, they said, 'It is over there', in a nasty tone and they walked away...... I couldn't find the product even after the sales clerk graciously gave me a second of their time. That's was enough for me. I went to a real bike store, not a one stop shop with brutal service. If u expect LBS service do not go here, it's like shopping a big box store.
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff with exceptional customer service. Looking to get a bike I highly recommend this place. They are also dog friendly.
Good selection of running/trail/ hiking/approach shoes and boots. They also carry Marmot products and have a very nice bike selection plus repair shop. The staff are both knowledgeable and attentive. This is my go-to even though I'm a member of mec.
This is a treasure trove of quality fitness/outdoor and adventure clothing, outerwear, and accessories! The store is warehouse size and uses its space well to display the abundant clothing lines, with ample space to move around. The knowlegable staff is genuinely interested in ensuring you get the right product and fit for your needs. The decor is warm and welcoming just like the staff.
I ordered a $2000 bike from here. They said I would have the bike in 1-3 weeks. A month later (after I called them four times), I found out that it hadn't even been ordered because they needed a deposit, which I was explicitly told I wouldn't need. They could have at least called me to come give it too them...
Good selection of activewear and shoes. Found what I needed here when MEC didn't have it. A bit pricey. Can be hard to find someone to open the charge rooms for you.
Great selection of bike equipment and camping gear. Excellent assistance from knowledgeable staff. I bought a brand new sleeping pad that was defective and it was replaced free of charge!
My friend recently bought a new bike from Bushtakah. The shift/brake levers weren't aligned properly on the handlebars. The brakes were set up incorrectly, putting stress on the wheels every time they were engaged. The brake shoes weren't aligned correctly, and the cable housing for the rear brake was cut too short.
The rear derailleur wasn't adjusted properly causing spontaneous, unexpected gear changes, and the derailleur hanger wasn't properly installed. The wheels were out of true, badly in the case of the rear wheel. The rear rack wasn't installed properly. They didn't even make sure that the seat was properly aligned with the frame.
To summarize, their build of the bike was terrible, and they didn't bother fixing it before letting my friend ride home. Their lack of professionalism and irresponsibility in this case was shocking.
The bike repair shop is really good and their service is top-notch. If you need to get your bike tuned up or parts replaced, ask for Kevin. He provided me with such an amazing customer experience and went beyond his way to get things done. Highly recommend it.
Had an interview last week all went well and I was asked to show up on Sunday morning to start so I did, supervisor was not informed of my appearance and sent me home for the day citing insurance coverage since i was not in their system yet but made me complete the paperwork and submit my banking info and sign the contract, following day I receive a phone call from the manager that interviewed me saying that upper management decided not to go forward with my hiring and cancelled on me all of a sudden, no reason or justification provided, very upsetting since I was excited to join Bushtukah Won t be recommending this to the cycling community at all, unethical practices and lack of transparency in the hiring process left me feeling bitter and hateful unfortunately
Bushtukah is a big store selling outdoor gear of all types. Most of my experiences here have been good. I find they are usually under staffed in shoe area and the waits are long. That being said the staff are knowledgeable and helpful overall.
This summer I purchased an e-bike at Bushtukah. This was a huge purchase for me and I wanted to let you know that I received nothing but amazing service from everyone at the Richmond Street Store. The Staff was simply fantastic!! Everyone was very knowledgeable, patient, helpful, polite and took their time to make sure that I was totally satisfied!! Thank you everyone for ensuring that I purchased exactly what I required for my needs and for the outstanding client service!
Excellent support when you buy something. But very poor follow up after that. No one calls you or informs you if your bike is ready or your ordered parts have arrived. Phone calls to the store go to voice mails.
Great friendly service without pressure for sales. An extensive bike collection and service, great outdoor equipment with knowledgeable staff and honest opinions. Bushtukah will also conduct clinics and events which I recommend ppl check out.
I brought my bike into the store and an employee not only helped me find what I needed product-wise, but taught me how yo change my tires and everything right at the front desk, free of charge.
It was the best customer I've ever had at any establishment.
I know next to nothing about bikes... But Don/ Dan? Im terrible with names (sorry) made the process of finding which tires I needed to convert my mountain bike to a hybrid. Awesome experience.
I bought children s mittens here for Christmas and the waterproof cover ripped off after only a month. The store said it was normal wear and tear, so don t expect their gear to last. It s cheap.
Purchased my Salsa Journeyman Sora 650b here (2019) and serviced it in 2021 prior to start of the summer. Great service, had selective bikepacking items and general cycling items. It seems to be an all around general outdoor store.
There are tons of good outdoor stores in Ottawa, but Bushtukah is one of the best. The staff is always helpful and extremely knowledgeable and very importantly willing to work with you to make sure you get the product you need for a good price. They are not above negotiating on the price which keeps bringing me back. I have bought more Arcteryx here then I care to admit and keep sending my friends and family whenever they are in town. I would highly recommend them
The store has good products. I have purchased 2 bikes here. But shoppers beware at the cash register with discounted products since the cashiers always seem to forget to apply the discounts. (first couple times I believed it was a mistake, but after this occurred 4 times in a row I believe that this is either on purpose or high incompetence)
The guy who helped me choosing a backpack was very knowledgeable about the different models and he had a lot of personal experience with most of the selection.
Love this store. They always seem to stand behind their product. Returned a pair of Garmin Vector's who's pods kept failing. Even after close to 2 month's usage, they took the (1,500$) pedals back for a full refund! Of course, going on busy days, sometimes you may get less service. Though personally, haven't really ever felt like so, and I always seem to find someone that is knowledgeable.
Megan and Colin made my day. Didn't grab a product when I was in there on Saturday and really regretted it when I got home in Kingston. Clearance item. Not available through their online store. No worries. A quick call to Megan and she confirmed they still had the item, sent the item from the store to the warehouse, they made the one item available through the online store and sent me the link. Item created, ordered, shipped within hours. Thank you.
Large selection of quality outdoor gear and product at competitive price, not to mention the many sales event throughout the year. Knowledgeable, helpful floor staff and experienced shop staff. Offers top bike fitting service. I have never been disappointed with my experiences here. Offers discount to military members.
Have focused on my biking needs here at Bushtukah and the staff I've dealt with have been very knowledgeable and helpful. When I brought my bike in for maintenance a few days ago John checked on me a few times while he was busy with other customers to assure me he would soon get to me. He then was patient and thorough in answering my many questions. When I told him how I'm always trying to learn more about cycling he mentioned the Bushtukah web link to its free Tuesday bike clinics and I attended one this evening run by him. He likes to entertain and he loves his store and what he does and it's obvious in how he deals with customers. They work hard on keeping customers loyal.
I thought I'd give this store another chance after using bike repair services of other stores over the past 5 years. It was a question of convenience. Despite their promptness to provide the tuneup within 48 hrs - pretty impressive given it is high season - I cant say I'd return for bike repair. For a $110 for a major tune-up + extra to replace the cable (all competitively priced) , I got white cables on my black bike - I wish someone had called me first for my ok on the colour switch - the 'clicking sound' with each pedal rotation is still annoyingly there, and the brakes don't seem to have been adjusted. The latter two issues were ones I had expressly asked them to look at.
Many thanks to all of the staff at Bushtakah Richmond for their help and support in buying a new bike. They were very helpful in providing information and suggestions on different bike types based on how I wanted to use my bike.
I would highly recommend Peter, Will, Jesse, Shawn, and the rest of the staff to anyone who is looking to purchase a new bike. They were willing to spend the time necessary to listen to what you were looking for, but also suggest alternatives that were close, but you may not have considered.
I have purchased running gear from Bushtukah for many years, and have always been happy with their service. It's been a long time since I have purchased a bike, and the staff made it a very good experience.
Really disappointed with the lack of customer service by the floor staff. The guy in shoes left me hanging with questions for about 10 mins while he dealt with someone on the phone. Then he moved on to someone else. So he decided a potential customer was better than a real live one. I spoke to the manager who assured me this would be dealt with..we'll see. Hmm..never had this problem at MEC. It hurts to even give a star.
Had my vertex 50 serviced at the stittsville location. I had run into a problem trying to tune the bike myself. The techs were extremely helpful and accommodating even though they were very very busy. They repaired the bike in good time and even gave me pointers for where I was going wrong. I strongly recommend bushtuka. Cheers!
You should never order online from them. If you have any issue with your order, you will not be able to communicate with them as they do not respond to emails nor provide any options for you in case of issues.
This is very unfortunate as we are accustomed to Amazon and other retailers who a provide a completely worry-free experience. Would not recommend ordering from this website.
I do not know if they shipped my package or not or if it got stolen, but in all cases, I've not received my order and they would not provide any options for me, nor answer to my previous emails, extremely disappointing as I paid for my order in full...
Title: Shopping at the Bushtukah Richmond Rd. Store was a huge success-because of one staff!
Our day trip to the Bushtukah Richmond Rd. Store from Kingston was a huge success, due to the excellent advance work and instore-service by 1 employee: Jurnee!
We asked her to find us men s and women s pants equivalent to discontinued Icebreaker models and she was a great detective, as she set aside several items before we got there!
Once there, she ran all over the store finding other items for us while we tried them on without ANY complaint and with a very sunny disposition.
It was like having a hardworking and creative personal shopper -for 2 hours!
This kind of customer service AND the wide ranging selection of products made us confirmed believers in Bushtukah.
We will look to shopping with you again in future!!
