Grounds are nice. Halloween experience could have been a lot better. Kids had to find 10 pumpkins with letters on them to spell out 2 words. Got a goody bag if they found them. A tiny ink stamp a paper book mark and a chocolate coin. Cafe was busy, seemed rushed, not proper sanitised tables and chairs, in-between customers. Not a good idea having people waiting to check in at the entrance, alongside people that are eating in the cafe!

Super visit to the parkland, as we arrived late afternoon didn't have time to tour the hall so will do that next time. Relatively easy to find, had to use the sat nav and watch for the brown tourist signs with plenty of parking on arrival. Staff were very friendly and chatty ready to talk about the site. The grounds are landscaped with a wooded walk down to the lake, a walk around the lake including the Capability Brown bridge and returning via the 100 acre field which may include some very inquisitive cows. You can walk round outside the hall and passing some of the gardens and the orangery (full of lemon trees !) . There's a small children's play area which it's sad to say is rather sparce and a large picnic area with tables. There is plenty to explore in the stable block from the Burton Constable whale, stables and clock tower. Also in the block are the toilets M-F-D with baby changing facilities - all very clean and the cafe selling snacks and light meals. Burton Constable Grounds are dog friendly (but not obviously round the house except the usual assistance dogs) and are welcome in the cafe which also includes a room for dogs and owners if preferred. For those visiting it may be worth having a quick look on the website as the hall holds a number of events and tours throughout the year, some getting you behind the scenes. A good place to visit for all the family with lots of space to run around and not too expensive. Looking forward to our return to visit the hall.
Had a wonderful time here and could not believe how many rooms that are open for the public to see. There is a member of staff in most rooms to help with any questions you may have and they interacted with the kids to. Would definitely recommend this place to spend a day.
Beautiful house in lovely grounds. Dogs welcome on leads anywhere around the grounds & parkland. The house is full of interest & volunteer guides are very knowledgeable. Some good bits for children, young ones love the whale & the coach play area. Tha cafe serves good lunches/afternoon teas!
Lovely place to visit hall very interesting with many rooms you can see it at your own pace with guides on hand if needed .the tea room is extra special all food homemade we shall return
Beautiful property in remarkable landscaped gardens. What really sets this place apart are the passionate volunteers who offer a fascinating insight into the history of the Hall and the surrounding area, be sure to chat to them as you walk around the property.
Wow! We stumbled across this while we were out and about. It's one of the best historic houses we have been to. The coffee shop was great and the journey up the drive was awesome - you can fully appreciate the grandness of the house. The guides were amazing and gave lots of interesting facts about the history of the house.
Nice place service was quick food was very good but sorry i think someone wants to go on a course on how to make a decent Flat White coffee your charging extra for it so it should be right, and the waitress said " here is your Latte i mean flat white " so its obviouse the cafe staff are not properly trained up
Loved this place, I recommend becoming a HHA member though as you can do many other historic houses.
The only reason I'm giving this a 4 star is because the original women who served us needs some customer service training, you see she was a bit rude and disrespectful and extremely unhelpful, we had bought out HHA membership that morning and went to this house soon after, the lady refused to serve us as members because we didn't have cards but we had all our details and recipets and was told this is enough yet the women dismissed us like we where children, I am 24 and I expect to be treat much more professionally and when asked if there was anyone else who could help us she said no and then looked at the next people in the line.. Completely uncalled for and I don't think she should be on the front desk until she learns some proper customer service skills! We were rather shocked and disgusted at her manners.
Went for afternoon tea in the Stables Kitchen. We all really enjoyed it, there was a great selection of sandwiches, savouries and cakes and a choice of either tea or coffee. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend it, in this wonderful setting.
Excellent food, very imaginative menu. Lovely shop. Friendly staff. Lovely Capability Brown grounds. Attentive staff, knowledgeable, good team spirit. Displays were eclectic ranging from trinkets to antique. All round a good day out.
Just been to see the Christmas lights - brilliant if you went last year and was a little disappointed - go again 100% better and not expensive - great day out
Lovely house and grounds. A real "Hidden Gem" in that not only is it a Gem, but its fairly difficult to find especially if you miss one of the Brown tourist signs when the verges are well grown in the summer. Went for the afternoon and found out there was a craft fair in the stables (adjacent to the cafe). The craft fare happens about 10 times a year and is well attended with some nice stuff. In the house there is some really exquisite furniture and antiques. Worth a visit
Excellent location for a day out. Interesting hall surrounded by extensive parkland and lakes. Good walks, cafe, toilets and shop all on site in the stable block. Free parking.
Great tour, made extra special by having a number of the rooms decorated for Christmas. The evidence of servant activity and their part in the history of the house was a real insight into how landed gentry lived. Lots of art works and antique furniture on display makes this a museum as well as a stately home. The afternoon tea included in our tour was a nice way to relax after the tour.
Was there for radio 1s big weekend 2017 so can't really comment on much other than its pretty and it was a truly awesome day so kudos for letting the grounds out.
Lovely house and grounds with a decent amount of things to do for kids and adults. No forest, walled gardens or adventure playground so not quite as much as some other similar houses life castle Howard or Burton Agnes
Visited tge East Yorkshire vintage car show. Really enjoyed the show - would have liked more picknic tables available and more shade around tge exhibition area - itvwas a bit challe ginfmg for older visitors.
Lovely old country house. Went to look at the craft fair. Lots of super local crafts on display. Looking forward to seeing the first ever Flower Festival being held there next weekend. Should be brilliant. Miss Elle's Design Florist will be there also.
Great well maintained grounds and a lovely house. The annual pass is a reasonable price, meaning you don't mind nipping here for a few hours. The circuit walks are very pleasant and maintain your interest and the various sculpture trails are great to do with the kids. They often have events like Easter weekend petting zoos & egg hunts which are always well run.
