A wealth of knowledge by the volunteers and some amusing anecdotes. Well worth a visit. Pity about the mugs of tea and no teapots in the cafe but the food was delicious and the service was good.

A place which is truly delightful. The entrance fee is not expensive considering how many rooms you can see and this time of year some of the rooms were dressed for christmas. Many people travel further afield to see Chatsworth and Burton Constable is a hidden gem. Friendly volunteers were in various rooms to give you more insight.

We just visited the craft and gift fayre so did not visit the house. We did have lunch in the cafe which, although very busy had a warm atmosphere. I had a pork and chip wrap which was served by a very nice young woman called Charley - it was delicious.

Fantastic Elizabethan home. Originally a small tower built after the Norman Invasion. In the ownership.of the same family all that time. The house is beautiful and fascinating because all the contents are original to the property, and there are layers still showing from every era. In trust so in the care of Historic Homes. A great family day out as it has beautiful grounds and a cafe. Ample parking. Some restrictions with Covid 19, so book ahead and enjoy.

Reading reviews I expected better.

Reading reviews I expected better.

It was the Easter holidays and they had Easter egg hunts and other bits on.

Not as pretty as I had hoped and not much to do.

Maybe ok for young children around 4 or 5 but I think others will get bored.

Went to view classic car show held here. This is our third visit. Very attractive and spacious venue with toilets, cafe/restaurant, information rooms and excellent area for car display. Other activities from time to time (Archery demo/have a go at the time of our visit), Art exhibition on a previous occasion. Nice woodland/parkland area for walks.

Visited the cafe for coffee and a hot chocolate on the way home, probably cost a little more than an ordinary little cafe but the drinks where great tasting and the surroundings clean and pleasant. Staff where friendly. Also had a stroll and a nosey around the stables and the clock tower, nothing spectacular but a nice way to pass an hour or so.

Went to a craft fair here, really nicely laid out in the old stables. Good selection of stalls from beers and spirits through to handmade goods, fudges and baked goods. Some stalls a little pricey but that's not the halls fault, and to be fair even the really expensive sausage rolls were top notch.

Love the restaurant excellent home cooked food and pleasant surrounding, also good functions held here x
No restaurant anymore, called the stables think the animals outside are better treated !!!!
4-5 different sandwiches which was very yuppie style,
Tea or coffee in paper cups,
Sausage roll and pork pie ,served in a brown paper bag!!! No plates to put your purchases on so had to put sauces on the bag !!!! (the inside once ripped open )
A ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING CUP OF TEA,THAT WE LEFT !!
NEEDLESS TO SAY THAT I WILL MOST CERTAINLY NOT BE RETURNING TO THE BARN /STABLES EVER !!!!
ONLY FOR THE CRAFT FAIRS,
AND BRING MY OWN TEA AND CUPS.
I DO NOT THINK THAT THE STANDARDS CAN GO ANY LOWER !!!!

Very knowledgable staff make Burton Constable Hall a real treat to visit. With over 30 rooms to view, there is something for anyone with a penchant for historic houses. The food in the tearoom is freshly made and very tasty. I had an egg and crispy onion sandwich which was awesome! There's also a really nice walk around the grounds.

This is off the beaten path but is very much worth seeing as it is a massive country house started in Jacobean times. There are a large number of rooms and it is set in large grounds where you can walk about.

One of the interesting exhibits is a whale skeleton that was brought to the house after the whale had washed up on shore.

Very much worth a visit

I only walked around the grounds and cafe so cannot comment on the house itself. Walked the dog around 2 out of the 3 routes, both of which were fairly nice but one walked directly through a caravan park so wasn't perhaps the most scenic of walks, but the lake and bridge were beautiful sights. House gardens a very old tree and accompanying Ha Ha made for a very nice meander on this frosty day.

This grand house has a multitude of historical interest to offer the inquisitive mind. Beautifully restored by local people with a mutual respect of local history. There is also a dog friendly cafe where you can sit and reflect upon your visit and enjoy the tranquility of the landscape. Wheelchair friendly and toilet facilities.

Lots to see at this large house, that dates back to Tudor times. Many interesting objects with good information in the reasonably priced guide book - also friendly and knowledgeable room guides. There is an unusual amount of original content, including scientific instruments and objects collected on travels - allow at least 2 hours to see the house. The cafe in the stables is also good and serves an excellent toastie! The house and cafe are both good value for the money. Unfortunately it was raining heavily so we never got as far as the lakes.
