A lovely bar and restaurant. We just had the quick sandwich menu but the steak sanwich was gorgeous done exactly to call. A lovely open airy restaurant. Kids were well looked after from the kids menu.

3 long hairs in mixed grill. Capiccino took 2 trips to the counter to ask where the drink was. Arrived 50 minutes later. Waitress was rude about the hairs in the food. One hair OK it happens but 3 longer than shoulder length is disgusting. That's the end of going there. Inn by the sea instead then.

This place has gone down hill in recent months and is a real disappointment. The usually friendly staff seem very unhelpful and like your inconveniencing them. The food is good but length of time to get served is shocking.

Food was fine although staff made us feel like we were in the way and that they'd rather we weren't there and rushed us. Was a shame as we've been there a few times for family birthdays. Don't think we'll go back again.

Food was good, some staff let the restaurant down by pratting about by till area with more noise than was needed.
Imitation of playing the drums around the till whilst trying to eat is not good especially as there was no tune to listen too either way.

Visited last night and very disappointed with my chips - quite clear that they had already been cooked some time previously and simply heated up and served - cold, soft & soggy ! Having raised this with one of the staff, I was then provided with another bowl of chips which were actually warmer but had obviously just had a quick dip back in the fryer. My main disappointment is that the pub thinks it can get away with serving such poor quality food - this is now the second time in recent weeks where food has been returned and am in no rush to go back. We had friends on another table and was good to see that at least someone in the kitchen had taken the feedback on board as they were subsequently provided with far chunkier and freshly cooked chips.... !

Appalled by service (or lack of) I asked repeatedly to order food. We were told more than once to sit down and someone would come to us. After waiting for nearly 2 hours we decided to leave. I spoke to the waitress in charge and told her why we were leaving but she didn't care and made it clear she never had any intention of serving us. She was very rude and even blatantly lied about us trying to order. Very bizarre! We went to the Lee on solent squash club instead which was fantastic!

It could be 5 star, but the staff let it down. I feel they constantly need nudging by senior staff to serve. I've witnessed arguements with staff, lack of presence for table service. I drink there, but don't tend to eat there anymore. Daytime custom seems not existent, I've been in to do cake and coffee on a few occasions, no cakes, fire not lit. It could be so much more

Lovely staff, with nice tasting food. It was very busy Saturday lunch time which demonstrates how popular it is. Although busy the service did not suffer.

Reduced to 2 star. 4 of us came to eat here. The room was draughty and cold for my elderly mother and uncle. 1 out of 2 fish and chips was cooked badly and had to be returned. This meant one person dining alone. They were not interested in providing some sort of discount for the spoilt experience. The food was good overall but the experience was poor. I understand that it has not changed hands which surprised me as the staff used to be very nice and friendly. Disappointed overall.

Arrived and found the carpark busy so thought this is a good sign as never been here before. Arranged with family to meet up for my 60th birthday and wasn't disappointed, food was first class and the hospitality was brilliant, so was the atmosphere, highly recommend

Excellent food, real ale and wine. Wide ranging menu including vegan, gluten free. Any swaps or requests were made easily. Very welcoming staff. Nothing was too much trouble. We were a party of 8 and severa; arrived late. The staff came over while we were waiting to warn us that if we wanted to order anything from the specials menu, we had to do so soon as the chefs would be finishing soon. Would recommend and will be visiitng again.

Bar maid miserable as sin because I asked her to take the ice out of my drink, surely she should have asked if I had wanted some in the first place, along with the fact she served me a pint of orange juice again assuming! Not good. Very disappointed

Many different areas to sit in, we plumped for outside as we had smokers and dogs. Interior design is nice, and seems a very pleasant pub overall. We didn't eat so I cannot say anything on that front.

The food was really nice, hot and quick service, reasonably priced, however they gave us dirty plates for our starters, when we flagged this matter with the serving staff he said "yeah i saw that" perhaps if you saw it you should have changed them for clean ones to begin with? However he soon changed them for us
