On June 1st, the entire cleaning staff of The Beacon in Jersey City illegally lost their jobs after speaking out about wage theft and lack of affordable healthcare during the coronavirus pandemic. The Beacon is a 1,155-unit apartment complex owned by Building and Land Technology.

Residential cleaners risk their own health to keep residents safe from COVID-19 by cleaning door handles and other surfaces. Yet Beacon cleaners were paid minimum wage and received no health benefits.

In April, Beacon cleaner Dario Cardenas passed away from COVID-19. Follow Dario's death, the remaining cleaners sent a petition to Building and Land Technology demanding fair pay and access to affordable healthcare. They also filed a complaint with Jersey City over the violations of a municipal standard wage law.

Just weeks later, Building and Land Technology switched cleaning providers and the new contractor, Adamas Building Services, refused to hire any of the cleaners.

The entire BL&T gentrification of Harbor Point was really, really sad to watch as a life long Stamford resident. Overpriced, cheaply made apartments that not even Stamford s own residents can afford due to the endless rent hikes over the years. They tried to make it accessible by filling out businesses up and down their neck of Washington Blvd, but this remains an area that is dangerous and in close proximity to quite a lot of crime. Another huge drug dealer just got popped on Henry Street just this week.

It s disgusting to see corporations try to capitalize on low income, ethnically diverse areas. Even more disgusting to watch it happen right around the corner from my home. Would have been nice to see BL&T actually integrate and provide some resources for the community. I don t know how they expect to ever fill those apartments when they ve built them right on top of a struggling community.

Building Land Technology has done a horrible job in Stamford.. cheap quickly built styrofoam buildings and have been spewing sanded off styrofoam in our waterways since 2009, and you can tell how much of a stronghold they hold on our city's administration, as they have never gotten fined by Stamford for stormwater pollution..and more.. This kind of developer is a real bad idea for a growing city..pushing our working families out..creating a divide within the community..surely there are others not as cheap in construction and not as careless of the environment and surrounding community..

Completely tearing up historical area and not preserving a single part of it. All they say in response is how many awards they recieved. What I want to see is a straight up response to them demolishing a centuries old boathouse, illegally, then bending the rules in their favor. They seem to be a demo first and line their pockets then make their own zoning rules type of company. Pathetic especially with their copy paste responses over and over.

Horrible company! Slowly destroying any remaining character Stamford has while lining their pockets and getting away with everything they should be held accountable for! (Boatyard anyone?) Responsible for rising rent prices and less affordable housing in the city, a higher density in areas with limited natural l/practical resources and not taking into mind ANYTHING citizens have to say if it may shrink their bottom line.

I live at Allure in Harbor Point. Beautiful, expensive facility, but the cigarette smoke in my apartment is quite heavy in the morning and late at night. I go to sleep with cigarette smoke blowing in through the a/c vent. I just bought my 3rd air puffier, which has an air quality indicator, that shows a degradation in air quality at these hours. Have reported this to management, but they don't seem able to do anything about it, though I haven't really observed much of an effort on their part.

If you have allergies, asthma, or other respiratory issues, avoid this building.

I am updating this review. The problem persists. I believe it is local to my unit, but management is unwilling to help.

In and out! Quick, friendly and informative staff. Walked in for my first vaccination shot and walked out in about 15 to 20 minutes 10 of which was the wait time after getting the shot to make sure I was okay. Didn't feel the shot at all.
