Delicious take on Eggs Benedict. Reservations recommended, this place gets crowded quickly. BYOB
Fantastically fired pizza with amazing flavor combinations. I have never been disappointed. They also have great dairy free pizza options that go beyond tomato pie.
Great local lunch place. Not overly busy. Lunch specials are pretty quick and unique.
Love it, service was amazing, food was amazing. An amazing outing overall. Highly recommended but don't go with more then 5, seating is a bit cramped.
I rarely depend on the reviews of other diners due to their subjective ideosyncracy and often unfathomable demands .In this case I substantiate each positive review and dismiss the others The manager was accomodating beyond expectation and the Italian fare extraordinary and beyond mundane The small plates shouted try me eat me and they had an accurate voice. It was an artisanal evening different takes from each dish. Loved the choices especially the variety of toppings for wood fired Pizza, the Calamari cooked with its combination of ingredients, and the BYOB that I brought They could not provide the expertise in your choice of wine that you bring but you can. Loved the rustic space, the service, the attitude and quite frankly the experience. I was with a group of seven people who all agreed.
The crust of my slice was a bit too doughy for my taste, and the watermelon and tomato salad a nice idea but not well executed. Absent-minded service.
A great little pizza place that is worth the effort to find. The ingredients are fresh, and the different types of pizza to choose from are unique and tasty. There are a few other eateries within a block or so, and I think they are all owned by the same group/person, and all worth a visit.
By far THE WORST SERVICE I'VE EVER RECIEVED. I have worked in the restaurant industry. To start off the host didn't tell us that we had to order with him so we were waiting on the waitress for a good amount of time. Then once we were done they rushed us out the door. Snatching plates and utensils in front of me & cleaning in front of us. Cleaning very aggressive in front of us & around our table while we were still eating. Mind you it was 9:40. I've gotten better pizza elsewhere. Most productive employee was the cook. Even tho did not cross path. Never going back again.
Very good "gourmet" pizza, and the price reflects that. When you want more than just a typical slice of pizza, Bufad's menu contains a plethora of very unique pizzas. Seating here is very limited, since it's a small space. You can sit at the counter near the door and get full wait service, but on cold days this can be a little uncomfortable when the door opens.
Stumbled upon this place on the way to a show at the Union Transfer. Unique personal sized pizza options. Pizza came out dark on the top and slightly undercooked on the bottom. Liked the chilli oil and bread crumbs for pizza toppers. Limited beverage options. The atmosphere was very nice. Service left much to be desired at $15+ per person (pizza, water, tax and tip). Would go again but I wouldnt go out of my way.
Great food. Decent prices. Tight seating. Parking is on the street and can be hit or miss. BYO.
Pretty solid. I wouldn't mind the size if it was a little cheaper and less doughy on the crust.
Excellent, friendly service , interesting pizza menu, and delicious food!
Pizzas were smaller than I would have liked, especially considering the price but they were extremely good and tasted fresh. Good service and atmosphere as well.
The food was OK (at the very least decent) but the service on the other hand was very disappointing (TERRIBLE). I'm not sure about this place but in my 7 years of experience in the food industry I've never had such terrible service. It was my first time, nobody greeted us or guided us in the slightest way or form as to what exactly, or where exactly we should sit. By the time we sat down and waited 10-15 minutes to order (we have yet to be greeted) we anxiously began looking around for somebody, anybody to help us. We came in at 9, they close at 10 but around 920 (we were still waiting for service to order the rest of our food) they began cleaning up, and moving alot of furniture around and started very aggressively cleaning around our table while we were still eating. 5 minutes after we got our main course (pizza, and wings) they began coming up to our table to just clear away plates, and trash. Overall was a terrible experience, will definitely NOT be returning, and the service was TERRIBLE!!! Very disappointed in the service.
I love their pizza! They have the best pizza in Philadelphia. And wait, did I tell that their olive cake is super duper delicious??
Fantastic thin crust gourmet pizza! The calebrese salad was also delicious.
Pizza selection is great and you can get your pepperoni or be daring and try the summer corn pizza. Dessert is very tasty buy leaves you wanting a few more bites due to the small size.
Various items on the menu. I always order pizza and salad because they're made with fresh seasonal ingredients. Food is well prepared and delicious. This place is a gem. Hurry and give it try before it becomes impossible to get a table.
Food was good service was fast however the manager was very rude after we closed out our check. He Asked us if we could leave so other people could have our table. He Asked the 2 tables next to us the same thing. Never have I ever had a server ask me to leave like that. If they are that hard up to change out tables they should focus on getting a bigger place instead of loosing 4 customers.
Delicious wood-fired pizzas and fantastic staff made what we expected to be "a pizza to fill a hole after a long day at a nearby conference" into a truly delightful experience.
It's hard to explain how "interesting" a pizza can be (bread, tomato sauce, cheese etc - how fun can it get without going totally OTT!?) but Bufad are clearly on a mission to prove that pizzas can be interesting and flavourful without being esoteric.
Try the roasted corn puree pizza if you want to understand what I'm talking about; but in all honesty, all the food here has been fantastic, and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful it really makes you feel comfortable / at home, leaving you free to enjoy your food in all its glory!! Really - you have to try this place at least once in your life!
Yummy pizza and cute atmosphere. Very tiny inside though...close quarters. Worth it for the pizza!
If you like chewy dough neopolitan style, you'll love it.
Delicious pizza! Small and cozy place that has outdoor seating. A rotating menu of fresh and delicious pizzas. A place that is often overlooked.
Pizzas are small but definitely quality ingredients and cooking for the price. Quick and quality service even though the place was a little busy. No fuss pizza just the way I love it.
Pizza is really good. Brussels pie is an interesting option.
Great pizza, fast service, nice people, will go back
The food is always fresh and diverse, following seasonal offerings with unique and splendid preparations. Always a delight for the palate when you're seeking something different yet yummy!
One of the few pizza delicacies I re-visit for the taste.
Staff was friendly room was clean. Complimentary breakfast was just OK, except for the waffles which were excellent.
Some of the best pizza I've had in Philly. BYOB and they were non-judgemental when me and friends showed up with just a few cans of beer which was awesome.
I love the pizza here. The marinara is just amazing and I've ordered it several times.
I really love the feels of this place. Very hip yet cozy. The pizza is amazing and the staff is so nice.
Service was friendly which is a big plus. Daily specials were written out, and we tried the brisket pizza (good for sharing between 2-3 people). I also had the sausage and gravy (pic) which wasn't as heavy as it sounds, but I did find the gravy a bit too rich.
High end pizza joint. Best mushroom pizza I've ever had!
Although they are known for their wood-fired pizza, we are very fond of their amazing appetizers and deserts. When there is a wait, it is worth it.
There was a snafu with our reservation, and then service was slow because ours was the second party of 6 seated at basically the same time. But one hopes those are one-off issues, and the pizza and salads we had were quite good, and the other menu items looked interesting as well. I'd go back, but not in a hurry.
It's a small space, but the decor is unique and appropriate.
I only dropped in once, but for the burnt crust and over priced pie, it was something I could've made myself. Huge disappointment.
We got the prosciutto cotto pizza. It was so fresh and delicious. Great staff, too. We'll be back to try something new!
Great food, nice decor, great staff. A good casual place to grab dinner with friends. BYOB too.
Wonderful pizza, but sadly there is a staff, Lauren is her name, that is basically rude to me every time I come over, is almost like I'm inconveniencing her every time. I have kept coming back because the pizza is good, but today I left, she was just rude and nobody should be treated like that. I am a client and i do not feel welcome at all, quite the opposite. There is always an issue and never a smile. It's very BAD for business to have someone like that on staff. I'm not coming back and I do not recommend this place other than for take out in order to avoid this unpleasant and unprofessional person.
Outstanding menu. Fresh made pizza crust is excellent and you know pizza is all about the crust.
I always make it a point to bring any willing body to brunch here. Food and service are A+++.
I've been to this place a plethora of times. Always love the food! Always love that staff! The owner is a great guy. I've never had a bad meal or bad service (this is worth noting twice). And to boot, one of the best Margherita Pies in the city! I highly recommend Bufad! I also recommend reservations on the weekends.
This is THE place to drop by for a quick snack. Even if you don't normally appreciate beautiful decoration and a wonderful atmosphere, I guarantee you that you will be blown away by the vibe inside Bufad.
The staff is extraordinarily accommodating, the chef prepared a wonderful, delicious, vegan gluten free dish on the spot for my boyfriend and me -- it was perfect! A friend of mine had a slice of pizza and said it's the most clever pizza topping he has ever had, also perfectly prepared and inexpensively priced.
This place comes highly recommended for a quick bite/ snack, especially if you suddenly find yourself in this transitioning part of town.
Great local spot for pizza/Italian. Location is ideal if your attending any event at the Union Transfer as it is two blocks away. Makes for a great night of drinks (byob) and dinner then a show. Parking is also close by if you don't want to park on the street. I reccomend ordering two pizzas and sharing, always try the specials too! You won't be disappointed!
I've been to my share of gourmet pizza places in town, this one is the best I think.
I love Bufad it's a great place, even mike myers could chill and just eat pizza not fretting over groceries or whos the next sexmaker he need to reproach. the infamous prohibition tap room only 20 yards away, u got a lot to do man get goin
What a great little find just north of City Hall!
We went for dinner on a Sunday evening and they were able to seat us right away. The waitress was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. My guest and I viewed both the standard and specials menu and ended up getting the margherita pizza, the roasted beet salad, and the antipasti platter.
The pizza was crispy and flavorful and since it's cooked in the brick oven, you get bits of that charred dough with each bite! The pie was a good size for two people, but I guess it could be a personal pizza as well (I guess any pizza is if you try hard enough =P!)
The antipasti platter had a nice selection, with interesting mixes of finger foods including a carrot/yogurt salad, a cauliflower mixture (YUM), eggs, and of course a few assortments of cheese and compote! We had fun mixing and matching the options and also incorporating a few of the platter items into the beet salad.
The beets salad was the unexpected favorite of the night. Along with the beets, the salad had nice hints of citrus from the oranges and the vinaigrette. The addition of the ricotta cheese with the toasted almonds was a nice touch to help balance the flavors.
Pro tip: The place is BYOB (unfortunately no alcohol on site), but you're able to go next door to Prohibition Taproom and purchase beer if you prefer, and return to drink it with your meal.
Will be returning to check out more of the menu!
PROPER Pizza. European style. This pizza is 100% wood fired in a great oven, cooked by people who know pizza. Inexpensive, just the way pizza should be. If you want a beer, no problem.... They have a deal with a bar down the road. You can buy a four pint bottle and bring it in to have with your pizza. They provide the glasses. Spot on.
Get delivery a lot via caviar. Delicious food. Been in a few times as well.
It was a teeny tiny place but boy was the food good. It was an entertaining night, cold but the ambience inside was super warm. The vegetarian pizza we tried was amazing.. super delicious and they were very considerate when we told them about our whole no meat policy!
We want to make sure that you know their ice cream is made in the house and was super duper delicious.. my person couldn't stop clicking pictures.. their chocolate icing was made in the house.. I felt like nutella but something additional to nutella.. either way give me chocolate.. and I will say I love you.
Before we left, they made us have a complimentary shot of something made in house and boy was it strong.. totally took away my whole flavour of ice cream from my mouth but boy oh boy, do they love to have fun!! So creative to think of it before your guests leave..
Disclaimer: do not be drunk and sit on their high stools, we saw a very nice lady fall off the stool.. We didn't know whom to blame.. nor could we look away!! Beware of the stools.. jk don't go in drunk :)
Delicious and interesting flat bread pizza. Good ambience, solid service. Personal pizzas and pizza by the slice. It's no bargain, but it's good. Desserts are really tasty too.
Went here with 3 friends and had a very nice time. It's a little pricey but the pizza is high quality and the atmosphere was very nice. I would say this is more of a place to take someone on a date or maybe a special occasion. I tried three different types of pizza and the carbonara was my favorite.
You definitely will not go wrong whatever's your orders. One of the best Pizza I ever have. Very well done thin and very well ingredients. Very Delicious
Went here with some friends. Very pricey for what it is, dont come expecting a massive meal. Service is was a bit shoddy the whole time. Food was pretty damn good though would recommend the carbonara pizza. Go big or go home.
The pizza slices we had were pretty good but we loved the sipping chocolate that we got for dessert. Very yummy.
Really delicious pizza and warm hospitality. :) Pro Tap is right down the block for your post-dinner drinks.
It's a small space, but the decor is unique and appropriate. Great atmosphere, and it's always nice to be able to bring a bottle of wine to enjoy with pizza. The burrata appetizer was fantastic-- a nice mix of flavors. The Frutti di Mare pizza was a little too spicy, but the daily special pizza was excellent! The pizza crust is delicious. I'll be going back.
Great local pizza place. Good personal pizzas and salads. And very accommodating on the BYOB deal
Not entirely what I expected. The food was great, and tasted fresh, but it is not a typical pizza place. It's a tad pricey and not very filling. As good as the food was, I cannot give a 5 star.
Good pizza if you live in the neighborhood. Wouldn't go out of my way to visit though.
They have a good margherita. Sauce could be a little thicker for my taste and no alcohol here
